Hamilton Beach Professional 5-Speed Electric Hand Mixer

I really love this mixer. It has enough power to do any mixing chore whether it's potatoes, cakes or any other job, it works great. It has a variety of speeds and is really quiet when using. It fits in the hand very nicely and is easy to use. The beaters are easy to insert and remove. I love the storage case and how it snaps on. It makes is really easy to store and is a great buy for the money.

This professional hand mixer is VERY QUIET! Can do some mixing in my apartment without making my neighbors upset. It’s SLOW START IS TRUE SLOW START with good torque and anti-break slip feature - won’t break if beaters stopped on low speed (has good mixing power on low setting, for cookie dough - but would not use for bread dough). The heat sink in the front dissipates the heat, the beaters are SMOOTH and will not scrape metal bowls or pots and pans and allows you to clean them quickly. The storage feature is great, for all the attachments. The size is medium, durable. Portable, easy to use and the ‘extra power’ feature gives only a little extra power when blending on high speed. I’ve made thick marshmallows that need a long blending time of like 15 minutes and only then did it start to get pretty warm (heat sink) when the gelatin started to thicken dramatically. Can be a great substitute for a kitchen aid stand mixer, but only for the medium to light duty recipes - bread mixing should be done by hand or use a kitchen aid stand mixer or better yet - get an automatic bread machine from a thrift store.

I've had this mixer since before Christmas when my last one broke. Every time I use it I want to write a review because it's so good. Just holding it, it feels sturdy. I like the blades because they're thin and easier to clean. I also like the lever under the handle that ejects the blades but doesn't make them fly through the air as one mixer I had did. The cord where it enters the mixer turns in different directions so when you have the mixer on the base it sits well. What I like the best is that it has an actual very slow setting. When I start out my ingredients don't fly all over the counter because the setting is slow at the start. Because it's fairly powerful that slow setting works, whereas hand mixers I've had before needed to have a faster setting just to get the power. I noticed as another commenter talked about the high setting being slower. I asked AI about that and even the high setting does start out slow because it's made that way and then after a short time the speed picks up. It was also suggested that it was better for the mixer motor to start out slow and then go into higher speeds. I've used it on so many things including cookies that are thicker, Royal frosting that can get thick, and it works well without stress on the motor. It would be nice to have a countertop mixer but I don't have the room for that. I feel that this mixer is good as it gets. It's just a little more expensive but it's well worth it and if it's broke down I would get another one like this

Replaced an old Sunbeam mixer that probably came over with the Mayflower pilgrims. This new GB one works just fine, and as others have mentioned. Pros: Love the low-speed-start that prevents you from taking a bath from spray back from the 'stuff' you are mixing. Runs smoothly & quietly. Cons: The weight/size is just a tad wee tiny bit heavy/large. The poor design of the plastic storage stand - I don't even use that since it does not 'mate' with the mixer easily and removing the mixer from it is awkward at best. The cord protrudes from the back in a way that prevents the mixer sitting tilted back with beaters resting on the bowl. Also the beaters have specific holes they have to be inserted into (weird). Overall, in spite of the above oddeties, it does the job quite well.

Great mixer with strong performance and easy handling. It mixes ingredients smoothly and saves a lot of time in the kitchen. Lightweight, convenient, and works perfectly for baking. Very happy with the quality!

Love this hand mixer. Does the job and then stores away all together. No looking for beaters. Yes it is a great gift, portable and a value for the money.
