Probably the best blank discs nowadays
Been using Verbatim Blu-ray discs for several years as the Sonys were getting hard to find and quite expensive. These seem to work fine if you have a good optical burner. I think the only defective ones are some I caused. Waiting to see about the longevity, the oldest recording I have is about 4 years ago.

Always top quality and NEVER disappoints
I only buy Verbatim-brand discs for their reliability and longevity when creating the master archival backup discs for my clients' digital work product. I have been around since 2006 and have been using Verbatim brand discs for as long as there has been a choice to be made. I have yet to go back to an archived Verbatim-brand discs and had any issue with loading, data integrity or data retrieval. I cannot recommend them strongly enough.

Great, Good value (1/2 price of local mail order ...
Great , Good value (1/2 price of local mail order offers) came quickly, no Bad disks , 1/2 way thru stack. One bug , but probably my old gear is the fault. I'm using an Old LG GGW-H20L All disk created work although it gives an error creating the disk directly in Pinnacle 19.5 on win7 but no error writing the same BD image saved to disk up to a new blank disk from that same stored BD image later? Either way both methods seem to create usable disks, cant find any shortcomings playing either. That LG BD writer is about 4 -5 years old and so is the PC and I had done all possible firmware updates to the drive and the PCs Motherboard. These are apparently made using an older style of manufacturing which is suppose to have better compatibility in older drives according to one of the reviews. It seems to be true. I had tried newer BD writers and other new media combo's before that were all not recognizing , so these really saved me from upgrading everything!

UPDATE: After switch burning software to Toast 20, no issues
UPDATE: Though failures were due to discs, but after switch burning software from Mac Disc Utility to Toast 20, no issues, no coasters. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Not sure if this was a bad batch, but 4 out of 10 discs failed verification. At 40%, that's a pretty steep failure rate. Now it could be my writer (Pioneer BDR-XD08B) or it could be my Mac computer using Disc Utility software, so I can't say for sure that the discs were the problem, but this was my experience. I will order another batch of these 10 discs and see if there's any difference. If i keep getting fails, I'll try another writer (if I can get one) and/or I'll try a different writing app (like Toast). And if I get better results using these discs with other systems, I'll be back to let you know.

2 out of 10 were defective
I needed these BD-R XL 100GB discs for data backup, so I ordered a 10-pack and burned every disc at the slowest available speed. After burning, I copied the data back and verified it using PAR2. Out of the 10 discs, one was completely unreadable, and another was partially defective - one of the 10 files I burned to that disc could not be read back. The remaining discs and data were verified without issues. The 20% failure rate is disappointing.

Utter and complete failure - consider HP BD instead
How do I despise thee... let me count the coasters (and wasted time)! Across multiple drives these discs are slow to write and typically fail to verify. They are in a word - untrustworthy, or another un-word - unacceptable. Do not use these if you value your time, nor if you want to preserve your peace of mind. However if you thrive off of anger, especially during last minute deadlines, well by all means buy as many of these as you can afford! The HP BD discs found at https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008YQAFWU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 swim circles around the Verbatim crap. Seriously. I just burned 2 HP BD and 1 Verbatim. The HP BD's took less than 15 minutes to write and verify. The Verbatim took 1 hour 15 minutes to write and immediately failed on verify - a very typical performance. I really hate when poor manufacturing makes me an unwilling participant in wasting energy and natural resources.

It’s Verbatim. If they don’t work, it’s because something else is wrong.
I was recently reminded by a friend that a RAID is not a backup. Fortunately my RAID is only used for old stuff, it’s more of an archive. But if it were ever to fail, I’d be devastated. So what’s the best way to archive 4TB of data? I could build a second RAID... or maybe but an SSD or two.... or finally put that BluRay burner I bought five years ago to good use.... I chose the latter. So 39, 100GB quad layer BD-R discs from Verbatim should do the trick. And do the trick it did. Not a single bad disc in the bunch. On average all discs burned at about 5x speed and took an average of an hour and a half to burn each disc. Now I have an archive to last me at least fifty years. True, anything I add to my RAID from here on out won’t be part of that backup, but many next time I’ll use some BD-RE discs so I can reuse them over and over again. It just sucks that there aren’t any BD-RE 100GB discs I can get.

My Go-To Brand of Disk for Burning DVDs and Blu-Rays
I will ONLY burn DVDs or Blu-rays with Verbatim disks (and I love being able to make a professional-looking label on these inkjet-able white-top disks). But Verbatim is my brand, period, just as Sandisk is my brand with memory chips. I find that to fairly reliably burn disks, and not get coasters, you have to 1. Turn off your connection to the internet. 2. Turn off your Virus Protection. 3. Turn off any other app or program that tries to access the internet on a regular basis 4. Close all your software 5. Set the burn speed a good two notches (if not more) below the MAXIMUM speed the disks you have can write at. You have to be patient when it's burning, but isn't the higher success rate worth it? 6. Turn off any screen saver you have that kicks in automatically. Then burn your disk. The QC on Verbatim is the most important piece of the puzzle. Yes, occasionally you get a bad disk, but only very occasionally.

I have never had any problems with these discs and always buy them rather than any other type. They are very expensive but you get what you pay for.
