works great!
Bought it last year and used it a couple of times over the summer to make popcorn while camping and it worked great. We used it over a campfire most of the time. One time we even used it with the heat from the chimney of a chiminea. We had no problems with the black coating coming off as reported in other reviews. It heats up quickly, so you don't need a real hot fire and never had a problem with the handle becoming too hot while in use. If you enjoy camping and popcorn, I would recommend this item.

Worth every penny
This is what I have been looking for my whole life! Super easy to make popcorn and was so delicious! Iโve struggled with jiffy pop over the campfire for years, burned it everytime. Popcorn easy to make, delicious and the long handle was perfect over the campfire. My whole family enjoyed!

Chestnut roasters are hard to find.
Worked okay, but not really heavy duty enough for an open fire. The grommets on handle melted off during the first use, but were easily replaced with machine screws and nuts. The wooden handle on top tends to catch on fire and the metal clasp on front comes off a little too easily. With that said, though, we have had a lot of fun roasting chestnuts for our neighbors and friends and we plan to make it a neighborhood tradition for Christmas.

AWFUL!
This product was horrible. First of all the small picture is different than the larger picture when click on it. I wanted the popcorn maker that was in the larger picture and since that was on the picture on the order screen I figured that is what I would be getting. We tried to use the product. The oil took forever to heat up because the base was so wide, then we put the popcorn in and shook it for 5 minutes and nothing was happening. (we make popcorn with a different popper over the fire all the time) The handle then fell off the actual popcorn maker and the lid would not stay on and the whole maker fell into the fire. This product is awful and I do not recommend it at all!

Works great!
I used this several times and it performed well each time. I put a little Olive Oil in the pan and yellow kernels. It pops in a matter of minutes, tastes great, and does not get hot on the handle. The only issue is the lid clamp could be a bit better design.

Donโt set this down in the fire. Hold it above the fire
Chestnuts need only about 5-10 minutes after splitting and soaking in a bowl of water

Cheap. Made poorly so lid does not fit.
Cheap, flimsy and poorly designed. What was I thinking? Long handle too heavy and tips pan up so it flips off of fire. Have to jerry-rig a support under the handle to keep it from falling off the fire. Hinge and clasp hardware have poor tolerances and aren't fitted properly. Lid fits only if you DON'T use the hinge. If you use the hinge, you bend and deform the edge of the pan out of round. Clasp grinds enamel coating off of lid. Amazon is becoming a flea market of defective junk. But delivery is free! So maybe it's just an elaborate USPS work program.
