Worked great on my 98 Ford Ranger (Rear window)
After finding a youtube video, I went ahead and ordered this size (3/8in) of the windo-weld to fix my leaky rear window on my 98 Ford Ranger. It had been leaking for a long time, and it had been sitting at the previous owner's house, and that had caused surface rust on all the interior metal pieces and several interior electrical issues that were expensive to fix. Ordered this product, it came and I got to work on the truck. My truck is the single cab with the three piece sliding rear window, and this worked great for it. I put the windo-weld in the freezer before working with it, and didn't take it out until I had removed all of the old seal from my window. I then put it on, which was much easier with it cold than with it warm (takes the stickiness out of it temporarily). Then, after warming it up I put it back in the truck, tightened up the window bolts slowly, and left the truck in the sun for about an hour. After letting it sit I further tightened it until they were snug. I also made sure to push the window into the frame from the back periodically, which aided in closing the weatherstripping gap. I installed it in July of 2021 and it's now February of 2022, and I can successfully report that it has stayed weathertight for over 6 months now. I definitely recommend this product, especially for us 90s Ford guys that got screwed from the factory on these windows! It seems like other customers had issues with the shipping/condition of the product when received, I personally did not experience that and it came in new condition. My only grievance is that the box itself that the weatherstrip comes in had a little window in the front for you to feel the product through, just seemed weird to me. Seems like dust and other stuff could get in there and potentially contaminate the weatherstripping. Anyways, I had some left over and wrapped in a plastic bag for future use.

Ready to roll..Do the job right !!
I was interested in this product after reading and learning about how to fix my broken window motor on my car. The suggestion was that after the repair was done the plastic film that was a moisture barrier that goes on the door frame before re-installing the door panel was held on by "Butyl-tape" -Ive never heard of that, what is it? While I was well aware of the black sticky stuff that youd often find while working on cars I never knew what it was or what it was called or where to but it and since my car is in great condition and I like to do things by the book I went in search of this stuff...GOOD LUCK !!....Most auto stores and home improvement stores didn't have a clue about what I was talking about and after many phone calls I gave upon that and got on the ol net to search a viola!! here it was......Now some will say you can just tape on the plastic ( not a good idea it will fail in time) some say to just leave it off ! -OK if you like rust -others say use caulking or another glue NOPE!....this stuff was designed to come off and on specifically. While if your very careful you can remove the plastic barrier and somewhat save the old butyl-tape it makes it easier to have a fresh roll. You can also use it for other applications as well (seal leaks etc) ...Now, you DO get a lot in the roll that you may not need all at once,i used mine about two years ago and now I have another window motor out and I don't have to go searching around for the tape ive got it tucked away in my tool box ready to go.

Great quality
Great stuff. Definitely quality. I bought some cheaper stuff in the past and here's the comparison. The other is foam filled. 3m on the right. Spend the money and get the right stuff. I'm sure it's not a job you want to do again.

This product seals wonderfully. It is absurdly sticky and I have faith ...
Used this on my 2008 Honda Fit. The moisture barrier was leaking and I needed to repair it and prevent my back floor boards from getting water (Honda has a weird design... the plastic moisture barrier actually does more than keep out "vapor"). This product seals wonderfully. It is absurdly sticky and I have faith my repair will last. Honestly, this product seems a lot better than the material I pulled out of my Honda door; however, the Honda material was 8 years aged. I was able to do 2 doors completely with the product and could easily do 1 more. I don't believe I could make this 15 foot roll work for the entire car but it does a great job with 2 doors leaving plenty of room for mistakes and extra afterwards. I also noticed that the 1/4" size fits very well in the Honda Fit's door. Keep in mind this product comes as a 1/4" rope, it starts out cylindrical. The small recessed track that Honda uses for their butyl fit this material perfectly after I smashed it down making it stick out less. I hope this review helps someone.

Great stuff, used it in place of the leaking ...
Great stuff, used it in place of the leaking foam gaskets on the taillights of my 1997 Saab 900S about 5 months ago. Worked like a charm and hasn't leaked since! However, I must deduct one star for the poor packaging. The product had stuck to the plastic bag it came in at several spots around the roll, rendering those spots almost useless once I peeled the plastic off. So keep that in mind if you are looking to use the whole roll in one shot/on one large application.

Old stock / incorrectly stored. product has perished and adhesive is no longer in spec. Same for packaging. Glue holding box together perished as well. Packaging is older (not current) style. Product is out of date and no longer viable. Settings block were also missing. This should really trigger a safety recall. If anyone has actually used this product to install glass in their vehicle, it will definitely fail. Would have been pretty clear when this was shipped out that it was NFG

Good quality but the length is not 15ft, mine was 10ft so be careful when you buy it, make sure you check the length.

Are you working on your car? Do you need some butyl tape to form a gasket or water proof seal? This is literally what that is. I got this kit because I was re-doing a vapour seal on the inside of a door... went for this thicker ribbon because I wanted more "play" as I was re-using a foam part. Worked a treat. Messy as hell if you need to clean it up; wear gloves, plan ahead. That's intrinsic to the product and not a negative.

On the back of the box there is a warning, about the potential of causing cancer, as one of the chemicals used in the manufacture of this item is know for this effect. If I knew initially I wouldn’t buy it.
