i7 9700 vs i7 9700K
If you're someone that's looking for a 9th series i7 here are some differences between the cpus that might not be as obvious. i7 9700 - All core boost clock 4.4Ghz - Single core boost clock 4.7Ghz - Base core clock 3.0Ghz - 12MB Cache - TDP 65w i7 9700K (Stock) - All core boost clock 4.6Ghz - Single core boost clock 4.9Ghz - Base core clock 3.6Ghz - 12 MB Cache - TDP 95w Some things to keep in mind TDP ratings are done while the CPU is running at a sustained base clock speed, that would explain the TDP of the i7 9700K being much higher at 3.6Ghz base. This is a little misleading since clock for clock the cpus should perform the same and I feel like neither should be put under a stock intel cooler even though they might come with one. When I fit my i7 9700 the turbo power max defaulted to 65w this meant that under a 100% load the all core boost was only 3.8Ghz. The easiest way to change this is to download Intel XTU and turn up your Turbo Boost Power Max (I set mine to 150w making the CPU hit a TDP of around 100w) and now the all core boost sits at 4.4Ghz. Do this at your own risk and I beg you don’t do this if you’re using the stock cooler leave it at 65w, you have been warned. If you want to overclock you on have one choice, the i7 9700K If you’re not planning to overclock probably go for i7 9700
