Grandchildren love this book

Poor old fox has lost his socks!! Yet another brilliant Julia Donldson book. This book is full of great rhyming and also has flaps for children to open so no wonder it’s a favourite for many children. As a teacher I love using this book and other Julia Donaldson books to help teach rhyming. It’s great for getting children to tune into the language and have them help finish the sentences with the rhyming word. This can help children develop phonetic awareness as they will begin to see that changing the initial sound changes the word. As a mum I also love this book because children love it! It has great rhythm and a fun story that includes finding things under flaps along the way. I think I know all the words by heart and I’ve definitely heard other parents say they know all the words.

My son has loved this book and we have found ourselves utterly charmed by the pictures. The rhyming story is very engaging for little ones and of course flaps are a huge hit. We also enjoy spotting other items in the cupboard etc. My only complaint is that the flaps are very difficult to open at first and we ended up slightly damaging a couple getting them to work. So just be super careful when preparing the book for little hands. Overall however this makes no difference at all to my toddler’s enjoyment of the book.

Great book my 2 yo loves me to read at bedtime and he will lift the flaps. Lively rhyming short story.

This is a good size and made of very thick, quality board. The flaps are not flimsy and had to be gently released for first use. It's beautifully illustrated and uses strong, bright colours. The simple text is in rhyming couplets so it'll be nice to read and look at with my granddaughter. She's very young but already loves her book collection, quickly remembering what to look for and interact with. I'm very pleased with the purchase
