Tried to play a 4K disk and it could NOT ...
DO NOT BUY THIS if you ever want it to play a 4K Disc! VERY DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING on the part of SAMSUNG... Tried to play a 4K disk and it could NOT read the disc. Called the support number for SAMSUNG and spoke to 2 separate agents who confirmed that it DOES play 4K discs. I was instructed to update the software (only to find it had the latest version), then told to do a factory re-set of the machine (which didn't work) and was then told they'd send a USB drive with the necessary updates on it so I could play 4K discs. The USB failed to update the machine and correct the problem. The second agent confirmed that this model (based on the serial number and model number) can play 4K discs, so she arranged for a ticket to be generated so I could send the unit back for repairs. After reading several reviews here, which indicated that this model does not read 4K discs, I called Samsung again, only to be told by yet another agent that indeed, it DOES NOT read 4K discs. WOW! This product is SO DECEPTIVELY described that EVEN Samsung's OWN SUPPORT AGENTS are fooled! If they can't tell it doesn't read 4K discs, how is the customer supposed to know this?Also... Customer support (mostly in Manila and the Dominican Republic) is AWFUL! When calling the number that is listed in the machine's support menu, you should know that agents in my case blatantly lied, gave out fake telephone numbers for a "refund and exchange" department that does not exist, and failed to generate any return phone calls that were promised. After 2 weeks I escalated the issues (which were fully documented) to a supervisor who finally admitted their multiple errors, but said he was powerless to provide any kind of compensation for the horrible way I was treated. My advice? Don't buy SAMSUNG products, and if you do, understand that Samsung agents can basically tell you anything they want, and, while SAMSUNG will discipline them as employees, they won't do a damn thing for you!

Great DVD player, but after only two years....
I'm only giving this 3 stars because today(8/27/2017) it stoped working. The dvd player has a lot of great features and is esy to use, setup etc. but for some reason it just started turning on and off by itself. it won't play or do anything. It just turns on, loads the home page and shuts off repeatedly. the only way to stop is to unplug it. so if you buy this. make sure you get the protection plan! it's only been two years and now I'm having to buy a new one.

Samsung 2016 flagship model, now at a discount price
Friends and I purchased this as a gift for a friend who was in need of a Blu-ray player. He didn't need 4K upscaling for his new HDTV, yet we wanted a player with a reputation for quality and reliability, advanced features, streaming, superb video and audio output, and spectacular product reviews. This player met all those criteria very nicely. On the downside, I was disappointed it does not offer a zoom to scale output to different sizes (a common feature) but that's the only thing I feel we missed in this otherwise great Blu-ray player. When I configured it in my own home theater for our friend, I was very impressed with video/audio integrity and overall performance. Menus didn't allow much customization and had some odd design choices, but I don't think they'll disappoint casual users. Our bud is now loving his new player and says he's tremendously happy with Blu-ray and with the DVD upscaling quality.

disapointed
Purchased in 2015. Just opened up this box because it took me a while to collect all my needed components for a theater system. Mainly bought this unit because of the 5.1 ch analog outputs and the smart apps. Well, The youtube app will not download - getting a 3010 error, the netflix app won't open - just keeps saying in the process of downloading even though it's already there, the amazon app take about 5 minutes to display all movie options and sometimes fails, and no apps are getting moved into my My Apps folder. Didn't even get as far as to try playing movies on this. Samsung is going to have me ship it to their service center but I have my doubts as to if they will be able to help me or not, one could only hope. My only other option would be to try and pick up another used unit just for parts and then I'll try to replace the circuit board in it myself. If Samsung can fix this problem, I will change this review accordingly.

Great Networking Options - It Does Pandora!
I really like the fact that this Blu-Ray player has a TOSLINK optical output, as my receiver had only an optical connection available (if my receiver didn't have HDMI passthrough, I wouldn't have this problem). Also greatly appreciated is the 802.11A/N capable wireless connection. The 2.4 GHz band is highly congested in my multi-unit dwelling, leaving 5.0 as the only viable option. What I really like are the smart-tv type features this box has. It can stream from online sources. Playing Pandora with remote capability is a great feature, instead of using an extra smartphone to do it.I've watched movies on it, it works well in that regard. I don't have a 4K capable tv, so the upscaling is a waste.

More then a nice Picture
Since I have no intention of buying a 4k disk player, the Samsung really fits the bill. It upscales everything and everything looks great. But when I connected this to my HT system the sound improved quiet a bit. On familiar movies , micro detail brought sounds forward that I had not heard before. The settings let you dial in your speakers if you want too. The sound in the opening scene of Master & Commander put you on that ship. And the upscale feature made the picture pop. Easy to recommend.

Excellent blue ray player .
THIS IS A FANTASTIC BLUE RAY PLAYER AND THE QUESTIONS IS SINCE THIS PLAYER BELONGS TO USA WILL IT WORK IN INDIA BECAUSE IT HAS A REGION FOR BLUE RAY S AND 1 FOR DVD. I THINK IT SUPPORT S NTSC AND PAL FORMAT COMMING BACK TO WORKING IN INDIA IT WORK S PERFECTLY AS ALMOST 99 PERCENT OF THE BLUE RAY 3D AND 2D ARE EITHER REGION FREE OR ABC . THE HINDI FILM DVD S ARE MOSTLY NTSC ALL REGION . BUT AS PER THE CLAIM BY THE SELLER THAT IT IS OI2345678 DVD REGION FREE IS SOMETHING WHICH I AM YET TO TEST..APART FROM THAT NO ISSUE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS IT WORK S IN 120V ONLY. SO A STEP DOWN STABILIZER IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY .

Very Satisfied Customer
It came much quicker than expected, 3 days. Arrived in good condition, Hookups and setup quite easy and quick. Performance is outstanding as I have come to expect from Samsung with both video and audio (complete channel separation using HDMI audio to my 7.1 receiver). Copied/burnt DVD movie was extremely crystal clear picture and total surround sound. True Home Theatre. Bluray disc are fantastic. Web connection was almost instant, all apps work much quicker than my previous retire Smart Bluray which would hang on Netflix and even disc. Many more Apps than previous such as Crackle, Crave, TMN Go, of course Netflix and many more etc. I was very happy to see it actually had a Google Web Browsers, my previous Smart Bluray had the HUB, that was it. All apps work quite quickly and great video and audio.Very satisfied with the seller and product.

CAUTION - NOT FULL DUAL HDMI OUTPUT!
I bought this 3D blu-ray player because it was advertised and reviewed as having two HDMI outputs which was precisely what I needed in order to hook it up to my HDTV and my 3D projector so that I could use it on either.BRRAAAKKKKK... wrong. It only outputs full HDMI on one output and the other is used to take audio to a receiver. Not at all what online reviews or Amazon led me to believe.Quality is otherwise very good and I do not fault it for what it does well. Just seems ridiculous to put 2 HDMI ports on a unit and then cripple it.

Need A Great Sounding Player With Analog RCA Outputs + An Excellent Picture - That and Much More Here !
I'm not sure what the issue is, but I'm getting a lot of "cannot perform function because of disk restriction" pop-ups that refuse to let DVDs play. I have found a way to get around most of them by activating different menus such as previews first, and then trying to play the disk. So far this has been a minor annoyance, and you can find out more if you search for "region free" DVD players. The main reason I chose this player was because it had the features I needed to match my vintage stereo hookups and my 3D TV. There is a real shortage of players with RCA analog out, and this player sounds fantastic. It plays audio CDs better than any other player I've owned, with what seems to my ear to be a noticeable improvement in audio quality. If you're hooking this unit up to stereo rather than a 7.1 surround system, make sure that you go into the settings and turn the other speakers off, or you'll miss the audio output from the other channels. I really noticed this on The Revenant, where some voices were barely audible until I changed the settings on the player. The remote works great and the player has some cool illuminated touch controls on the top edge for manual operation. The Wi-Fi is easy to setup. Except for the "disk restriction" annoyance, it's been an excellent player that produces an excellent picture and sound that was shipped on time in excellent condition.

So after using for a while now this unit rocks. Great interface and operates seamlessly with the HD Sumsung TV. Set up was super easy and instructions very clear and linear. Every thing put in runs, music cds, regular movie cds and blue ray, dosen't miss a beat. Remote is quick and accurate and very intuative to use. Great value.
