Missing Clip, Doesn't Quite Fit Right
UPDATE: I returned the first shifter and ordered a second, and wouldn't ya know it? The second one fit GREAT. It snapped in like it should, and while obviously isn't OEM, definitely fits the bill. I should note that the second knob has much smaller holes than the first, and I think I like the look of the first one a little more? But they both looks nice and well-made in their own ways, and I won't even dock the item stars for that. Just note that your item might look different than the one in my photos, and/or you might not get a well-fitting one the first time.I was really excited to receive this shifter cover, and it's *almost* there. The leather and feel of the piece is very satisfying, and it arrived much quicker than I expected based on estimated arrival times.Unfortunately, the positives ended there. First and foremost, the cover doesn't fit exactly right, leaving a noticeable gap on the passenger side. I think this might be due to the fact that, despite other reviews, this does not appear to be actual OEM. There are two plastic tabs (pictured) where the knob itself meets and clicks onto the shifter. On the OEM one, the plastic is molded to have a space cut out for the metal clips to latch onto the tabs. This keeps the metal clips fastened to the tabs, so that when you push it onto the shifter knob, they click into place, pulling the plastic tabs of the cover with them. On this design, however, the plastic tabs are solid plastic with no divets or gaps for the metal clips to hold onto the cover. As a result, they just kinda sit on the plastic tabs, and when you try to install the cover, the clips can easily slide off, and don't really grip the cover. Moreover, my cover only came with one such tab, which is part of why I think it wouldn't clip in or sit flush. Also unfortunate was the damage that came on the top of the handle. It's...fairly minor, but for a brand new product I ordered to replace an aging and no-longer-pristine cover in the first place, I'd like for it to be free of defects right out of the gate. These seem like issues that could be corrected by re-ordering, so that's what I'm going to do. Hopefully the issues I had with this one will be fixed, and I'll adjust my review if they are.

Fits perfectly, looks great
When I ordered this, I didn't know it would be shipped from China. That explains why it took about two weeks to arrive. But a bigger surprise is that this is a genuine Volkswagen/Audi part.Removing the old, smooth leather cover was a breeze. I just used the edge of a hard plastic scraper, and pried it under the right side of the cover. Once you break the seal, you can pretty much use any plastic tool to wedge it up and pop it off. It is held on by two fasteners.Line up the new cover's clips with the existing fasteners, push down and gently hammer with the side of your fist. That's it, you're done.Is this cover worth $35? Probably not, but it does look cool.
