The Analysis and Design of Pneumatic System
I have not had the time to really read this book. However, the information reminds me of a high speed gas flow class I took years ago. Lots of gas dynamic equations (compressible flow). The book looks interesting. It is definitely for readers that have a mechanical engineering thermodynamics background. I apologize for not saying much. I just have not had the time to read it.

Good engineering book
This is a well written, organized work on pneumatics. Thorough covers concepts, develops equations, identifies limitations and proper application. Great for engineers that need to back up their claims in a design review with calcs.

I bought the book based on recommendations by a coworker. It was pretty useless to me as it discussed concepts whose prerequisites were introduced in subsequent chapters. Worse, the book does not specify where the information needed to understand the material is, so one can go to that chapter and read it first.

Blaine truly "Wrote the book" (on pneumatics at least)
Blaine's book really is the bible on the subject. I know, since I worked for the guy, and used the book to teach students (from my signed copy). If you do anything with pneumatics, just buy the book - nothing more need be said about it. But Blaine himself was another story. Extremely intelligent, with many of the "quirks" that that can bring in dealing with people. He had a standing bet to solve any Rubick's Cube in 5 minutes or less. I once disassembled a cube, then reassembled it in the wrong order. At 4 minutes 55 seconds, he announced that I had mechanically rearranged the cube. On the other hand, the FORTRAN code he wrote to implement his book's equations was the worst collection of spaghetti I have ever seen in thirty years. So buy the book; there won't be another now that Blaine has passed. If you do, you'll soon know that you've got a little piece of engineering history.
