desertcart.com: She Is Mine: A War Orphan's Incredible Journey of Survival: 9780985413422: stephanie-fast: Books Review: I was both amazed and inspired - After seeing Stephanie Fast speak at a church camp that I was volunteering at, I was both amazed and inspired. Fast speaks with a voice that is so powerfully influenced by God. After hearing her speak I ordered this book immediately to learn more about her incredible story. I was not disappointed. Once I began reading it, I could not put the book down. I finished it in two days flat. It's a quick and easy read that tells such a powerful and heavy story. I'm not going to lie, it's a heartbreaking story but it conveys so much hope at the same time. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through struggles in their life that they don't think they can overcome, anyone who wants to read a true testimony of how real and tangibly God can work in our lives, or just anyone who wants to read an inspirational story of how an abandoned war orphan grew up to become a public speaker and advocate that impacts the lives of millions. Review: The book is very simply written and is also great for youth readers - I saw Stephanie speak at an event in Alabama. Powerful!!!!!!! I was very compelled to get her book. The book is very simply written and is also great for youth readers. This is a testimony of how people that serve God can give God a place to touch His people around us by our obedience and love. He wants a vehicle to reach people. I hope that Stephanie continues to write about her story and grace to endure. This book is a clear testament that we can heavily impact our neighbor's life based off our love or hate. This would be a great movie. Stephanie carries God's adoption in her story and heart. Romans 8:15. God actually looks to get right in the middle of our suffering and pain and endures it with us. If you have ever been broken and suffered loss this book can help heal your wounds. Her story is real and proof that God can touch us by His love.

A Poignant Story of a Young Child's Survival
A Poignant survival story, full of hope and despair, twists and turns, and, most of all, the work of God's hand in this young lady's life. I personally knew Stephanie's adoptive parents both before and after they were missionaries in Korea, and briefly knew Stephanie when we were teens. Her description of their physical attributes and facial features when she first met them were perfect, bring back memories of a number of conversations I have had with her father. I just regret not having taken the time to learn more about her past and her survival story back then. What an interesting and personal book.

Survival - not like survivor on tv, a real survivor
A real raw story from a orphan who survived amidst challenges we cannot truly imagine. When people say that even the poor here in this country are rich compared to third world countries, believe it, we have so much more. Be thankful every day.

Could not put down!
I turned on the radio in time to catch the last part of the author's interviewed on a Moody Radio station. I was spellbound by what I heard and strained to catch her name as the program ended. I immediately ordered her book and finished in just a few hours. I couldn't put it down! The personal experiences of the author are difficult to imagine, and at such a young age. Her survival could only have been possible because God was protecting her. While I sometimes forget a book after a few years, this is a book I will never, ever forget! Highly recommend this book.

A life changing story
This is an incredible story that could change your life if you let it. Many times Stephanie’s story was so heart wrenching I could only stand to read one paragraph at a time. To picture a 4 year old child just looking for love and acceptance , on her own, facing the bitter Korean winter, and the harsh abuse of a culture that views her as less than a dog, surely will break even the most callous of hearts. How many tens of thousands of children just like her are out there being abused and abandoned just as she was, only wanting to be loved and belong?

There is a purpose in every tragedy to those who love God.
This is a book that I hope my whole family will read. There are not words to express my appreciation for its message. There must have been messengers sent from our heavenly Father to make sure that the author would live because of her work on advocating for orphans. God sees the heart. Stephanie Fast is a miracle that we would wish for every orphan in the whole world. Please, Stephanie, finish your second book, "Spirit of Mine." It is so needed. Now, the question is, what am I going to do for the orphans since I have been presented with this soul searching story?

captivating
I started reading this book and couldn’t put it down until I had finished reading it entirely. It brought tears to my eyes at times. When I learned the reason for the title, it made my heart swell. I would love to hear the rest of her story, after she was adopted.

What a wonderful book of God's grace in an unmanageable story. It's amazing this little girl survived at all, but God had a purpose in it all

A heartbreaking story, simply told - and in its simplicity and straightforwardness it affected the reader so much more. I found it difficult to understand how people, out of superstition or a weird honour-bound tradition, could be so cruel to a small child, even in the aftermath of the Korean War. This book put me through a variety of feelings, sadness and anger among them most of the time - if the story does that to me, how much worse must it have been for that child, in the 1950ies? This book will haunt me for a long time, and I pay my respect to the author for choosing to share her story with us - thank you.

Such a moving account of a young child's early years after being reluctantly abandoned by her mother because she was born as a result of an American GI taking advantage of a young Korean woman. Such sad atrocities occurred during this young child's life in her fight for survival. An horrifying account of her early years and struggles just to find food, warmth or shelter. But, rescued by an American couple, adopted and taken to the USA to live a very different life from the one she knew.. it bought tears to my eyes at the end both for her happy outcome and also for the millions of young children orphaned for whatever reason, abused and neglected, having to fight for every day survival. Well written and well worth reading.

What a compelling read!!! Brought me to years to see what she went through. Thank God for the Missionary couple and most of all for God's hand upon her life. The reality of what abandoned children have gone through is so shocking! This really has opened my eyes
