I purchased this item as a replacement armrest for my mother's wheelchair. I was was concerned prior to my purchase because I read a negative review about the plastic board that the armrest sits on when it is fastened to the wheelchair. While the armrest that was being replaced was a different brand, that plastic piece that fastens to the chair was EXACTLY the same. My Mom's current armrest was over 5 years old. The armrest needed replacement but, the plastic board was still in great shape. We kept the old board on the chair and the new one that came with this armrest as a replacement if we should ever need it (but I doubt that we will) the board is close to 1/2 inch thick and very solid, not cheaply made at all. The armrest itself appears to be good quality too and my mother stated that it was comfortable.

This item was purchased to replace a similar armrest that was well worn. At first look, it seemed to be better made than the previous armrest and it did attach to the wheelchair easily. However, it is quite a bit heavier than the previous one and keeps flipping down. I do not recommend this item and wish I had spent the additional amount to repurchase the one that wore out.

I bought this armrest last February and the base broke yesterday. The armrest was very comfortable but it's weight is too much for the plastic base used to mount it to the wheelchair arm. That base broke under normal usage and it snapped into two pieces. I want to emphasize that I did not mistreat the armrest in anyway -- it just snapped! I cannot recommend this armrest until they redesign the past base.
