Honey-Can-Do SHF250C1424 Steel Wire Shelf for Urban Shelving Units, 250lbs Capacity, Chrome, 14Lx24W

I needed some low shelving in these dimensions (2 shelves measuring 36"x14") and all I could find in complete sets of 4-6 shelves. So I decided to gather the pieces separately. Amazon had the right size shelves from Honey-Can-Do, but all the Honey-Can-Do posts I could find were at least 4 feet long. So I bought some 14" Metro SiteSelect 1" diameter posts and hoped they would be compatible. They are. They seem to be sturdy and good quality, as well as passing the key tests of being the right size and compatible with 1" diameter posts from a different manufacturer. Note that the shelves come with the set of 4 pairs of plastic sleeves that support the four corners of the shelf (between the post and the shelf hole), so you don't need to order those separately.

Attractive and solid shelving. I needed 2 extra shelves for a closet appx size 25 inches wide x 14 inches deep. These dimensions were hard to find and the shelving needed to hold heavy Christmas village houses, trees, etc. These shelves were very inexpensive and being the perfect, made the purchase a no-brainer. I just used long shelf "L" brackets from Walmart and it all came together.

I bought two of these shelves to add to the Whitmor unit I previously bought. Whitmor 6060-267 Supreme 5-Tier Shelves, Chrome These fit very nicely, although the last one did take some muscle to fit. It seemed like it might have been a smidge too wide, but it could also be that the new shelves were added after the unit was already in place and had items on it. The pole openings were the right diameter and the included black shelf "brackets" fit perfectly on the Whitmor poles.

I'm using this rack to support a free standing Secura 9100MC induction cooktop (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMCAM2G/), despite printed instructions saying not to place the induction unit on top of a steel surface. THERE IS NO PROBLEM with the induction cooktop sitting directly on top of this (magnetic) steel wire shelf. The shelf allows for maximum cooling airflow for the induction cooktop and there are no EM/RF interactions between the cooktop and this wire shelf. The rack has got no exposed jagged edges. Any exposed wire "ends" are smoothed and the shiny chrome plating is uniformly and smoothly applied across all wire elements of the rack, even on the aformentioned ends. The rack wipes up cleanly with a damp cloth without snagging. All of the welds look good to my eye, too. As to whether or not there are heavier duty steel wire shelf racks around, I have no doubt that this unit can support its maximum rated load of 250lbs. If you need to support >250lbs, then look for something else.

I bought this shelf to add to an existing cart and found it is quite a bit lighter and the wires that make up the shelf are thinner, bendable, and comparatively sparse. If you're accustomed to the original, heavy duty wire shelving, this isn't it. It's also not the same size as that shelving and the clips are both a bit larger and less substantial-feeling. In order to make it fit my existing unit, well, I had to turn this shelf upside-down and use it as a bottom basket shelf so the posts wouldn't be too far apart for the other two shelves. Luckily, I'm using it for a fairly light-weight application so the fact that the bottom shelf isn't anchored to the posts isn't a problem. If you want a lighter weight, it works fine.

I have a metal shelf I purchased a long time ago and I could use an extra level, so I went to a kitchen supply shop and they were out. So I ordered here, arrived in 2 days, fits with the old shelf, no problems. It is definitively less heavy and thinner than the heavy-duty one I have, but I am not using to store heavy items so it is fine. It includes the locks (black fasteners). I searched on the description but no mention of it. But yes, they are included.

I can't comment on how well this shelf fits in a preexisting unit as that's not why I bought it. I bought this shelf to promote airflow between my gaming consoles. Specifically my Playstation 4 due to its overheating issues. The shelf is made of metal so for my purposes, this was a cheap and effective way to elevate all of my systems and maximize the airflow not only to their vents but also around the consoles themselves. The lack of a solid base (since it's wired)on the shelf should also help to keep dust that has settled on my desk from entering the airflow into the consoles. The only issue would be if you have the space for something like this in your set up. Make sure to measure your area if you decide to buy one of these shelves for this purposes...but that's not the sellers fault if you don't. 🤭

These are great sturdy shelves. Only thing people should be made aware of is that the shelves of the same size and brand can have different weight limits. These shelves go to a more sturdy model than my shelf is so these extra add on shelves dont fit exactly the same.make sure if you are ordering extra shelves,that theyre for the same weight limit shelf structure.
