Quiet and 12.5 second open time on a standard 7' door.
Is good, California battery backup compliant, quiet, works with Chevy Homelink on board buttons. Delivered a day early and all the parts were there. Not too hard to put together, used it to replace a 30 year old Genie screw drive opener. Worked on a 90 degree day and it took about 7 hours with water breaks to install. Was able to reuse hangers for the existing motor mount with minimal modification, but need to put in bar end mount above door, sensors and such. I'm meticulous by nature so it probably could be done faster, with some help. This kit is nice as it's only a few bucks more than the similar units but comes with 2 remote, and a outside programmable keypad (with 'guest' number ability). Wired inside wall switch has 'lights only' button, and a lock-out button that lets door go down, but not back up via remotes (button on wall switch can still open door). My only complaint is the spool of wire that is supplied for sensors and interior wall switch is a bit meager - just enough wire for a 'perfect' (i.e. short) run to sensors and wall switch. Okay by me as I used existing wall switch wire, but be warned that if you use the long way around for sensors or wall switch you'll need another spool of wire. Oh, and don't over tighten chain - instructions indicate to tighten chain till the lazy side hangs 1/4" above bottom of rail, but fails to mention that the rail may distort before you get that much tension and fool you into over-tightening the chain. I think they assume you have the rail lying on a flat surface - I had my accross sawhorses and the lack of support allowed it to bow.

Great Value
Bought this to replace my 31 year old Overhead Door unit (got my money's worth out of that!). Straightforward installation which took 3 hours, good instructions, it helped that I was able to use previous wiring. Only delay was figuring control unit mounting, but had enough parts to pull it off. It is quieter, works fine, and I'm happy to have a battery backup. Even if it needs maintenance or even replacement after a few years its a great value! UPDATE 9/6. I liked the first one so much I bought a second to replace the other garage door opener, it was an even easier install the second time. I had trouble getting the program button to work on the first unit, contacted Genie customer support, and they gave me a work around (take the cover off and press the button on the circuit board). That worked, but they went above and beyond and without prompting shipped me a new unit cover to fix the button alignment. Great customer support!

Quiet, works well overall.
12 second open time, very quiet operation - similar to a belt unit. Remote range is average. Keypad is alright, but doesn't have a master code option to have multiple codes programmed, just a guest temporary that is deleted the next time the main code is entered. Installation was easy. All the parts were included and well labeled with clear instructions. Took about 8 hours to remove the old opener, rebalance the door, patch the drywall, and install the new opener and accessories. I completed the install alone, but would highly recommend having two people to make the job go much quicker. The included wire should be 10ft longer to make opener button placement more flexible. I like that the sensors and wall button are wired, unlike my old opener. More reliable, no batteries to swap. Seems to work well, but the rail is much flimsier than my old opener. We'll see how well it holds up. More plastic parts than I would like. Single worst part is the wire attachment to the unit itself. The wire clips for the sensors and buttons are VERY cheap and work poorly. I'd imagine a lot of people will break these during install. I was able to get mine in and working, but this is a poorly engineered part. Overall, this seems like a good buy for a basic garage door opener. Works great for my double door and will hopefully give as many years as my old Wayne Dalton opener.

Good Value
I recently replaced my old 18-year-old 1/2 horsepower Genie garage door opener after the motor died. Unable to find another 1/2 horsepower model, I opted for the 3/4 horsepower version. It certainly has more power and is noticeably quieter than my previous one. I appreciate that it includes a 2-car garage opener, a remote opener, and a backup battery. Overall, it's a great purchase!

Works better than I expected, great value
When I opened this unit up I almost returned it when I saw how small the DC motor was. It is about half the size of the old induction motor in the unit which I replaced because the optical sensors were not working and it had no remotes anymore. This kit is complete, has good paper directions and web videos available, good job! I cheated and taped the optical sensors together just so I could get it going, as usual it took longer than it should have because I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. The light weight of the head unit is really appreciated when you are on a ladder mounting the unit. Finished assembly and, WOW, what difference, plenty of power and soooo smooth. It even has a soft close function. Even with the optical sensors taped together the pressure sensor is just perfect, the lightest touch and it reverses yet never false triggers. Great electronics. The remotes are amazing, the inside switch has many functions, the best is where you can disable the remotes with small slide switch. You get 2 remotes and a outside remote wall mount (no wires!) with a keypad that you set to your code. I also tried out the battery backup, works great and is a nice feature to have if your power goes out. Good value and well thought out unit. The smoothness and power still amaze me in this small package, this old school guy got schooled!

Buy a different brand
UPDATE: This is a long runway to explain why you shouldn’t buy a Genie. Bought this because it was the least expensive of the good (so I thought) units I could get in California. The unit arrived packaged and shipped in two days as advertised-Prime. When the installer of my new garage door arrived and saw the Genie model he told me that Genie was not the best I could do and almost any other opener was a better choice. He noted that he never uses them because of the plethora of problems he has had with them in the 20+ years he has been doing installations. I tried to send it back (no returns to Amazon on these even with Prime and they take everything back without question) and buy a “Chamberlain”, more expensive but top rated and recommended by the installer. The installer installed the door and reluctantly the Genie opener and noted several times that he would not be responsible for the Genie opener. (Had the Genie unit installed professionally to avoid any warranty issues.) Everything worked for two days. Genie opened and closed like a dream and I suspected my installer was trying to slip one past me and have me buy a Chamberlain from him. Not so! Looked in the garage one evening and the door had opened by itself. I pressed the wired wall console, the red LED was not working or the off light switch and the door closed, then, the whole mechanism quit working. I spent (not exaggerating) over 2 hours researching the Genie website and “Troubleshooting” protocols as well as “YouTube” video’s, but the door was closed and nothing would work. Had to pull the emergency release and lift the door myself to get my car out of the garage. (A nice and necessary feature required by all garage door opener mfg.) The next day was Sunday, everything and everyone was closed so waited to contact GENIE Monday AM Meanwhile, checked and rechecked all components. Genie website has a contact number but from US a 1.5-2.5 hour wait time. I did a “Chat” online from the Genie website. I had spent hours checking and rechecking the power unit (motor), exterior keypad, wired wall remote, and sensors several times. Rewired the contacts at the power unit, rewired and reconnected the wires at the wired console, checked and rechecked the batteries in the exterior remote, reconnected the sensor wires, and followed the “Troubleshooting” protocols from the Genie website and owners manual several times. Finally, got everything to work except the red LED light on the wired keypad. Had a live “Chat” with a rep from Genie while i waited for a call back and the rep wanted me to go through the whole checklist again. The rep disconnected from our “Chat” when I explained I didn’t want to repeat the same thing again over the internet by live chat. (Live chat is a waste of time.) I called my installer and he was perplexed but repeated his warning and suggested I switch the wires on the wired keypad. Switched the wires and sure enough the LED came on and everything worked like a charm, again, for a day. Next night, garage door opened on its own and the wired console was not working at all. It's bee a week trying to get my Genie to work properly. Called Genie again and got a call back. Very kind and patient lady. Listened to me 'whine' and told me that it was likely the wires running from the power unit to the wall console were bad. They came with the installation kit from Genie. She had me do one very simple test, took about 5 minutes. She explained the wires from the power unit-motor were either broken or contacting one another. I explained they were the cheap wires Genie sent with the kit. She was genuinely sorry for my trouble-so was I. Went to HomeDePot and purchased 50' of thermostat wire ($12.70) and rewired the unit from the power source to the wired console on the wall. SUCCESS! So far so good but the day is young. Buy a Chamberlain or have about 100' or more of thermostat 18 gauge wire available and a lotta time to burn.

Genie Chain Drive 750 3/4 HP Garage door opener meets expectations
I replaced an older Genie opener with the 750, primarily because I wanted battery backup. Installation was straightforward, and the instructions are color coded, and concise. As long as you follow them point by point, you won't have a problem. The rail is slightly shorter than the one it replaced, so I had to make a an adjustment (added structural blocking in the attic), but that didn't add much time. Total time to install, including taking down the old opener and rail was approximately 3 hours. The wall console and safety beams were identical to the old opener, so I left those and all the low voltage wiring in place. My one bit of advice, if you do a similar replacement, is to note (or take a picture) of how the original was wired w/ the low voltage bits, and use that same connection setup with the new motor head. In my case, it was NOT the same as spelled out in the instructions. The previous opener had been installed by the house builders, and they apparently had their own idea about how it should be wired. However, it worked flawlessly for five years, so I just went with that wiring scheme, and the new one works flawlessly as well. I'm quite amazed by how quiet this new chain drive operates. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a belt drive. The battery backup (main reason for the replacement) was extremely simple to install, and was still charging, so I haven't yet been able to test it, however, all the LEDs are indicating what they should, so I suspect it will work perfectly. The inclusion of an outside keypad saved me ~$35 that I was going to spend on one anyway, so take that into consideration in comparing prices, if you're thinking the same. The new 750 uses the same remotes as the older one, so I have two spares now. Programming it to sync with my vehicle's HomeLink, and an existing remote was a piece of cake. This opener *will* work with the optional Aladdin Connect, but, right now, I don't have a need to add it (I already have open/close sensors on the garage doors connected to my smart house setup). I can't speak to long term durability yet, however, if it's as issue free as its predecessor, I'll be happy. All in all, an excellent product, and I'd certainly recommend it...

Beware
My husband decided that he did not want a garage door opener after I had placed the order. As I tried to process a return for an item that has not even been taken out of the vehicle I find out that it is not returnable. I am a very loyal and quite prolific Amazon shopper. This experience may alter my loyalty.
