Razor mx500
An excellent first dirtbike. Get this one. Pretty much any kid can hop on this and have a good time. I reccomend it for the five or six year old to nine or so age group. The box says like 12 or 14, but thats just a big responsible company covering their arses. Its a great learner, because its just twist and go. All hand brakes, no foot controls, which is good when learning because your feet arent always on the pegs. It's a proportional bike for kids so its not awkward or clumsy it fits them right. Dont get any smaller razor dbike, they dont have suspension. This one is very much like a real bike, suspension, handling, disc brakes, etc. Electric, but power ramps up so you cant do a wheelie. Because its electric, it is a little heavy, but that keeps them from getting too much air as well. Hundreds of hours of fun, and zero injuries. If you crash in the grass, you weren't going real fast, and are pretty close to the ground, so it dont hurt much. Rated up to like 175 pounds (again i recommend it for the 45-90 pound kid range) but ive hopped on it (210#) to put it away, and theres no problems. Batterys are standard lead-acid closed cell, so they are safe and reliable. The charge only lasts a half hour or so which is the only downside really.

A Well-Built and Fun Off-Road Ride
Powerful, Quiet, and Surprisingly Durable โ Perfect for Off-Road Fun As someone who enjoys outdoor rides but wanted something electric and compact for my daughter, the Razor MX500 Red Dirt Rocket has exceeded expectations. It delivers impressive power, quiet operation, and just enough edge to make you forget itโs not gas-powered. โ๏ธ Performance & Speed Donโt let the "youth" label fool you โ this bike packs a punch. It easily handles gravel, dirt, and small hills, and the chain-driven motor with high torque gives it real muscle. I clocked top speeds close to 15โ17 mph, which feels fast when youโre riding something this nimble. ๐ Battery Life On a full charge, I get around 35โ40 minutes of continuous use, depending on terrain and rider weight. It takes about 8โ10 hours to recharge fully, so I usually plug it in overnight. ๐ Build Quality This isnโt a toy โ the steel frame, dual suspension, and large pneumatic knobby tires make it feel like a real dirt bike. Itโs stable, well-balanced, and absorbs bumps smoothly. The front and rear disc brakes also work great and give you solid stopping control. ๐งโ๐คโ๐ง Who It's For Though marketed for teens, it comfortably supports up to 175 lbs. Iโd say itโs best for: Teenagers 13+ who are responsible riders Adults under 170 lbs looking for funl off-road ride Beginners wanting an intro to dirt biking without gas or noise ๐ Pros Surprisingly powerful motor Smooth ride with good suspension Durable and well-constructed Quiet and environmentally friendly Great value for the price ๐ Cons Long charge time No headlight or reflectors (consider mods for visibility) Slightly small for taller adults ๐ฆ Final Verdict The Razor MX500 is an outstanding entry-level electric dirt bike for anyone wanting thrills without fumes. Itโs well-built, performs reliably, and offers just enough punch to feel exciting. Highly recommended for teens or lightweight adults looking to tear up the trails in silence.

Best gifts Ever!
I bought two of these at the same time for my 10 year old and 11 year old sons. They are small for their age, but the bikes are definitely not too large. The funny thing is that the bikes also didn't seem too small when I couldn't resist and took one for a spin in the backyard. I'm 135lbs and 5'9" tall and the bike handled me just fine. My sons love these bikes. Everyday when they get home from school they ride around our backyard until the battery indicator turns yellow (about 40 minutes). So far, they have recharged them overnight after each use, but the charger light turns green much sooner than the 12 hour recommended charge time. The bikes are heavy and very sturdy. My kids love running them up and down the small hills and dips and bumps in our 2 acre yard. They go about as fast as a vigorously pedaled bicycle, so I think the 15 mph top speed is about right. When I first opened the boxes and looked at the instructions, I groaned at the 30 minute estimated time to assemble, but it actually went very fast. All you have to do is attach the front fender, the handle bars and the front wheel. It was very easy, much to my relief. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Sturdy
Bike arrived as expected in a box and was very heavy. Only had to assemble the front number plate, handle bars and front wheel. This was easy and took ten minutes with the proper tools. I charged it for 12 hours as recommended and my son received it the next morning for his 7yr birthday. He is 4'6" and it is perfect size for him. Can't say enough about the quality and solid construction of this bike and it is plenty fast. He rode it for several days in a row, charges it after every ride and it hasn't died on him yet. Super fun and definitely would buy again.

So far -- So good !!
I got this bike for my 9 year old for Christmas. It was the main thing he asked for. I am a single mom and was able to put the handle bars and front tire on by myself. After I got the handlebars on, I turned it upside down to get the front wheel on. My son rode it off and on for about 4 hours on Christmas day. So far there were no problems and I am keeping my fingers crossed. I did not have the same problem with the box being messed up or missing parts. The box was in mint condition. We had a snow storm that night and into the next day, and he has not had a chance to ride it again just yet. I will repost if I find any problems later. The bike seems to be well built and very sturdy. In fact it weighs about 110 lbs, which makes it a little hard for me to lift to transport to another location to ride. I do not have a garage to keep it out of the cold, but I have a sun room that we store it in with only one step to get it out/inside. The first time I took it down the front steps (10 steps) and it was really hard to manage -- had to use the brakes to keep it from pulling me down with it!!! LOL

Razor MX500 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike
I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to get their child a motorcycle but, like me, is too scared to get a "real" one. I purchased this for my 9 year old, 80 pound, 4th grader for Christmas and he LOVES it!! He has done nothing but ride it since he opened it. It goes about 18 miles per hour when the battery is fully charged, and the ride seems to be smooth on grass and pasture as well as on pavement. The box said this model was for kids 14 and up, but I don't see a child of that age wanting to ride this. The battery charges well and gives the bike nice, quick starts. The machine is completely quiet and smooth. My son did, however, have one wreck already....he wasn't going that fast but hit a ridge in the driveway just as he was making a turn. He wasn't hurt at all and the bike was not damaged one bit. The fully assembled bike weighs a little over 100 pounds so it's not going to crush anybody. You have to be careful, of course, and be extra cautious until you've really got the feel of it. But my son has had two of the Razor motorbikes smaller than this one so he's pretty good with two wheeled toys. Assembly was extremly easy, by the way, as it really wasn't assembly at all. The bike arrives pretty much intact. I'd recommend this bike, and I'd highly recommend this Seller.

Good deal as Razor worked out wheel problems they had
My son received the 500 for christmas 2010 within 2 weeks the plastic chain guide cracked which holds the chain in place. Once cracked the chain falls off. I called and I have to say customer service is very good and they sent me out a new part ASAP. With the winter we had in the northeast he did not get much a chance to ride it much but with maybe a total of 5 hours on the bike the rear wheel and the chain would not connect to turn rear wheel, chain would spin freely around wheel. I looked up trouble shooting on line and it tells me the entire wheel at 60.00 plus shipping needs to be replaced. You cant just buy the part you need to buy the wheel, tire, and sprocket which is the problem. Again I called and because its within 90 days they sent it out to me no problem. It makes me wonder now whats next and now the 90 days are expired. I would think parts would wear with some good hours on the bike. He rides it on the street mostly. Though when it gets a little wet the motor stops working all together till it drys out. Not much of a dirt bike. But that can be corrected by some dw40 to displace the water. I am updating as of May 18, 2011 I am on my 4th rear wheel that the factory sent me. They last a few weeks then the bearing and clutch inside wheel has failed. I have to think they got a bunch of bad manufactured rear wheels. Customer service has been very responding and send the parts out at no cost but man its down more then my son uses it and I have to wonder when Razor will say to bad out of warentee no more parts. I wish the bike would work and keep working. My sons 90 lbs and he does not ride it hard. I believe the bikes are designed to run and then you need to order parts from Razor. The initial price for what you get is reasonable but they make it up on parts. But maybe its just been a bad start on my unit and this will run problem free for awhile. Personally if the wheel was not covered before I shelled out 100.00 I would have spot welded the wheel to the chain sprocket and fixed the problem for good. But let me see, maybe its just been bad luck. Like I said they do honor the warentee no problem and the people who answer the phones are very well trained on the product and try hard to speak clearly. Where they are located my guess China like everything else in manufacturing these days, but thats why its only 350 for the bike new. Final I hope last update to this review. After going through 4 bad wheel sprockets now receiving 5th rear wheel that razor has sent me no charge the last time I called in August 2011 I talked with supervisor who called me back twice and informed me that they had a bad run of rear wheel sprockets that did not hold up and this was off new batch of replacments the have now started receiving. So this last wheel I received had a different outside patters at the hub assembly on the outside then all the others if it is indeed a new setup to adress sprockets not turning wheels. I have had the same issue with this bike others have had. I will see if they corrected the problem. If not I will demand a full refund or new bike. Crazy anyone should have to deal with this. I will say as annoying this issue has been I have had no problems with razor standing behind it as I bought this back in December for Christmas 2010 and they continue to work with me sending 2nd day shipping them paying for it all. I will report back as to if this finally ends this problem. Dec 25 2011 all issues and problems I had with wheels have been resoved. Razor 4 months ago sent me new desiged wheel and its been working fine no problems at all, also the chain stays on with new wheel. I guess when wheel would hangup the chain would pop off all the time untill the wheel finally broke within a few weeks. Not anymore with new wheel designs. Razor stuck with me and did all you would hope from a company till they fix it and as you can read they stood behind their product.....It was annoying to go through but in th end a year later I am happy with bike.

Batteries Only Last 1 Year
This was great for 1 year, so great I bought 2 of them for my grandkids. Hardly ridden since I only see the kids once a month. The bikes may have been ridden a maximum of 12 times and now 1 year later both bike batteries only last 60 minutes with kids weighing 90lbs and 110lbs. It happened yesterday, stranding them a few blocks from the house and after charging both bikes all night long, it happened again today. Ridiculous

Great Customer service
I ordered two of these bikes for my grandkids age 8 and 10. They love them! Unfortunately something in the rear wheel wasn't right, but the customer service was great and new parts are on the way. Once that's fixed the kids can do some more riding. Note that although they're electric they aren't toys. It can get fairly fast so helmets and gear are a must.

A great little machine to learn on
A great little machine to learn on. Fits my 8 yr old perfectly. Have been getting about 40-45 mins run time on flat trail. Front brakes failed after 2-3 hours of use. Front suspension design is horrible-- knocks and rattles like its missing a lower bushing. In hindsight I wish I had spent $500 more for a real mini bike = much more enjoyment at the cottage.
