Hahnemuhle Watercolor Book A5 (8.3x5.8 inches) 200gsm Portrait

I like the 8×5 inch portrait format, not too heavy, too. Should be available in varity of sizes. A bit expensive in Indian currency, but really a good quality watercolour sketch book. Highly recommended.

I added this to my watercolour paper collection and tried this Hahnemuehle watercolour book for my painting, the result is amazing. The paper quality is good and holds a lot of water. I was able to apply multiple layers of paint while working on the painting. The colour and pigments are vibrant and visible.

A beautiful sketchbook for beginners, and unlike other sketch books, this one doesn't have an unsightly sticker on it. The paper is thick and the book is stiched well.

Thickness of the paper is good. Just it is not the same as traditional textured watercolor papers that I have purchased from local art store. Also some color patches appeared after drying out the paint. Though I loved the book.

Gorgeous sketchbook. The paper has a lovely slightly textured surface. It lays flat. They dream to work with and for the price I think it’s an amazing deal. I think I paid about £15. Very nice solid hardcover and the strap and ribbon are a great helpful addition. I know it says what colour but it takes other materials really well like fine liners, coloured pencils, acrylic, markers, gouache etc.

I bought the Hahnemühle Watercolor Book as a practical experiment. I have a bad habit of making sketchbooks too precious and then hesitating to use them because I’m afraid of “ruining” them. My goal was to choose something more affordable for my nature journal, with the promise that if I filled it, I could reward myself with a more expensive sketchbook. What happened instead surprised me. I filled it completely and realized I genuinely loved working in it, enough that I bought another one instead of upgrading. The paper handles watercolor beautifully for a 200gsm book. It’s sturdy enough for washes and layering without feeling intimidating, and the size is perfect for carrying outside on walks. The portrait format works especially well for nature journaling, quick studies, and observational sketches. Most importantly, this sketchbook made me use it. Because it felt approachable and not overly precious, I sketched more freely and consistently, which is exactly what I needed. If you’re someone who hesitates to start a “nice” sketchbook or wants a reliable, enjoyable watercolor journal that invites regular use, I highly recommend this one.
