is this a lotion type product and if so what is the date of production? fragrance companies tend to call liquids "balm" and "lotion" not accurate

Issey makes both. Their after shave lotion is a typical (although better smelling) clear liquid, that burns a bit when applied. The after shave balm is a thicker, white lotion. It is much more soothing to apply after shaving. I use both: lotion after shaving with my electric shaver, and the balm after shaving with a blade.
