This device seems perfect for my needs. It can measure any distance from a few inches up to 10,000 feet. Measurement is based on a fully mechanical 4.1 digit rotary counter which requires no battery, and the single push reset lever works reliably. Most of the device including the wheel and "tire" are plastic and worked well on both concrete and open ground; tubing is light aluminum. The wheel is large enough to provide good performance on uneven terrain. The device locks open with firm latches and folds at two joints to fit into the included 12" x 14" x 5" pack with shoulder straps. A handy kickstand works okay on smooth surfaces. A small, 16' tape measure is also included that can be used to calibrate the wheel. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to recalibrate the wheel itself (which was just a little off), so any corrections need to be made manually to the final measurements for the most accurate results. But that is no real problem. I like that the wheel measures in feet and inches rather than feet and tenths, i.e. the fifth digit reads from 0 to 11 rather than 0 to 9 like the other four. That's right, this one goes to 11! Very satisfied with this wheel. It would be nice to have a carrying handle on top of the bag in addition to the backpack straps, and the retracting tape is fine but retracts with considerable force which can really bite your fingers if you aren't careful -- this will probably only happen once though :). Glad I got this thing.

We have a family/community cemetery in which I have to measure out locations for new graves, or locations for old graves to mark. I did not have one of these and had been using a measuring tape. I found this, and after searching and reviewing, I decided to make the purchase. The price was competitive, it came with a backpack holder, and a small measuring tape. This is perfect for me because the pack makes it easy to store and to carry when needed. It is easy to read and use. The wheel runs well over bumpy terrain. The only thing I find annoying is the needle that points down from the wheel. It is needed and I definitely wanted it, but I find it's annoying because it is so loose that it continues to swing back and forth for a few seconds before settling to point. I kind of wish it had been static - it should point to the ground, center, when the wheel stops without me waiting for it to stop swinging. But - that's just me. Also, as some other mentioned, the kickstand is kind of useless. You can see it propped next to the door. It leans, holds it up if properly balanced on a flat surface, and is sort of useless on terrain; I don't expect to use it. For all the rest, it seems sturdy enough for my needs, it is accurate, it is light and easy to use, and the wheel runs perfectly. This has been a wonderful addition to my Job pack.

Looks to be designed for light industrial use. Outdoor use probably acceptable but would wear out the tool quickly. Used indoors on concrete floor to measure distances in a large industrial building. Measured two different areas back-and-forth. The numerical values were all within a few inches of each other. I cannot attest to the actual accuracy, but it seems to be giving repeatable measurements. Quaint little tool, folds nice and is well built…again, for light use IMO. Great for a construction crew, Industrial Engineer, or for any use that requires medium to longer distances. Definitely a good choice!

Works great. Easy to use and reset. Why did I wait so long to get one. I appreciate the tape measure in the pack as well.

Been needing a measuring wheel for the property I live on. I've been carving hiking trails throughout and needed to measure distances back to the house from the various areas. Good, durable measuring wheel. Love how it collapses with a couple simple levers to fit in a carrying bag.

Been using this for work. The bag makes this super easy to carry around and it measures accurately.

I use it for exterior measurements of large homes, farms, distances to outbuildings, etc. it works great, easy to read. Only concern at this point, and I've had it for a while, is that if you try to reset the reading too quick, it "clicks" when it rolls and doesn't measure... simply have to reset again slower and it continues on as normal.

This wheel is your answer! Wielding this thing gives you an immediate, possibly undeserved, sense of authority. Stride forth, click-clacking your way across driveways, lawns, and workshop floors! On smooth, cooperative surfaces, this baby purrs along, dutifully tallying up the distance like a tiny, wheeled accountant. It feels sturdy enough, the numbers are easy to read, and for those glorious moments, you feel like a professional surveyor mapping out new frontiers (even if it's just the patio). So why only four stars? Because this wheel, while diligent, has its kryptonite: adversity. Introduce a rogue pebble larger than a pea, a patch of slightly defiant grass, or perhaps a crack in the pavement that dares to challenge its path, and the Zozen can get... flustered. It might skip a beat, hiccup its count, or require a gentle lift 'n' reset, like it's personally offended by the terrain's lack of consideration. Furthermore, the kickstand seems to view its job as more of a suggestion than a firm commitment. It works, but treat it gently, lest it dramatically give up on life. Overall, a solid 4 stars. It makes measuring long stretches way easier and faster than the alternative, and adds a dash of 'official business' to your stride. Just be prepared to act as its terrain-clearing bodyguard occasionally, and maybe don't trust the kickstand with anything vital. Good tool, minor diva tendencies.
