These BROTOU G4 halogen bulbs have been a reliable lighting solution for the small fixtures around my home. They put out a warm 2800K light that feels cosy and inviting, and at 20W with around 300 lumens each they’re just the right brightness for display units, under-cabinet lights and decorative lamps without being harsh or glaring. Installing them was straightforward and they fit the 2-pin sockets perfectly, sliding in securely with no fuss. I’ve used them in a few different places where the old bulbs had dimmed over time, and the difference in clarity and consistency of light has been noticeable. They’re fully dimmable too, so paired with a compatible dimmer you get that smooth transition from bright task lighting to softer ambient glow in the evening. They aren’t the most energy efficient bulbs out there, but for the applications they’re designed for they do exactly what you need with a pleasant colour temperature. 4 stars due to the energy efficiency.

I bought these by error as I wanted LED. Although only 20 Watts they do burn hot, indicating how energy dence they are. My brass ship mast light got too hot to touch after only half an hour, so I quickly swapped the bulb for a 1.5 watt LED G4. I did the calculations and although the it would cost about £5 per annum to run ( 5 hrs a day ) I was more concerned about the power station working hard to supply the electricity. As all my lights at home are now led, my little mast lamp throws out plenty of ambient light for next to no cost to either my wallet or the planet .
