WORST NIGHT GUARD EVERZ!!! 😖
I have used night guards for years. Most are the same. But one day I found these on sale & decided to give them a try. It molded well & felt ok... In fact it felt really thick & strong, & I was thinking "now this one is gonna last as loooong time."I couldn't even wear it thru the night, as its so bulky it made my jaw hurt. It hurt so bad by the time I woke up, I could barely open my mouth to eat breakfast... Just from the soreness of this thing!I wouldn't recommend to heavy grinders who tend to get sore jaws, or really small mouths, as it feels more like a football mouth guard! In fact that's exactly what it kinda is. Really not helpful for a comfortable nights sleep.During the fitting/molding process, as many have sais, you're likely to burn your fingers. And if you leave it in the hot water one second too long, the entire thing will melt into a big unusable blob... No wonder why they give you 2! You think you're getting an extra for free, but they expect you to ruin the first one. It's way to hard, not made to cushion teeth during grinding well at all. I had to throw it away, & order the same old kind most are made of. It also cut into my gums horribly. So this isn't for people with sensitive gums or teeth (like if you use Sensodyne to combat sensitivity or nerve pain from receding gums). It wraps entirely around your gum line up higher than most other kinds sit which can be a problem for some that the description (at least at the time of my purchase) didn't say. It doesn't custom mold to your teeth to hold on but rather molds around your gums & you suck in causing a vacuum to make it stay. But unless you get the molding exactly right, the vacuum doesn't work well (especially if you have any gaps or missing teeth). I really think the product description should have specified that!Note to Manufactures of this product: Just do what everyone else does for the design. Don't fix what's not broke. Sorry, epic fail. And offering an extra for free cuz you know its a crap product or cuz its so different you realize most people will ruin the first one during the molding process is a total cop out for thinking you can charge anywhere close to what most sell for. Go back to the drawing board!... Or better yet, just copy from other manufacturers who get it right & have good reviews! Customers do NOT appreciate you treating one of our most valuble parts of the human body such lack of care or decent design quality. People spend a fortune on their teeth & often get these devices cuz they already have problems or their dentist recommended to protect from future problems. So you are essentially disrespecting their financial investment in their teeth & their health when you try to put such an awful product on the market. I know they say there's no place for ethics in business, but the world is quickly moving in that direction cuz consumers like responsible companies who recycle, & value their customers enough to make quality products. Get with the times, or else I foresee an angry customer backlash. I also noticed a lot of the worst reviews have been removed somehow from when I originally purchased this product & was looking thru reviews. I recognized some, but many of the ones that detailed the design flaws & health problems they had, have been removed... Did you do that on purpose? Shouldn't customers be allowed to read a full selection of unbiased reviews before deciding if a product is right for them? What, was it finally hurting your profits cuz people were scared away by the honesty? Shameful. 😞 SMH. IDK if you bribed disgruntled reviewers to take down their negative reviews for some incentive, or paid amazon to filter out the worst ones, or there's just some interweb glitch that somehow is only showing mostly positive reviews (& maybe a few of the more mild negative... But what happened to the lady who lost her teeth cuz of your product, or the other one who had chronic jaw problems afterwards?) Did you pay some "image control" company to handle it for you so you could keep selling a potentially dangerous product under false guises? Something's up it looks like. I'm not out to ruin your biz, but I will call'em like I see'em.However, on the plus side, the case it comes with is VERY nice. It was decorated with purple flowers & had a little mirror inside like a compact. I plan to use it for makeup. Lol. I also suspect some positive reviews planted too, cuz previously this product had 2 stars, & more negative than positive by a whole heap load!*NOTE: It may not say "verified purchase" on mine but I did buy & try the product... Idk how that works, cuz it didn't ask me in the review form to submit. So idk if the site can tell what you've purchased previously to add "amazon verified purchase" if it finds a match? It was months ago, so that's why idk if it'll appear. I only review products I've actually tried. Nobody paid me to do this review, & I have no vested interest in what type of review I leave, other than my personal experience. I bought it thru amazon here too, not some other site, on sale for $6.99 (2 for 1 deal + free case). This is just my personal experience, but I felt the need to mention the negative reviews missing & what some said, as my experience was similar. I usually only leave a review if K REALLY liked or REALLY hated a product (or feel ripped off, which in this case applies). I'd hate to think anyone else might buy this product without even the ability to see an honest selection of reviews, which is why I mentioned the absence of all the negative reviews I saw previously... And I mean 4 out of 5 were negative! So a huge portion. In fact I remember only like 3-5 positive reviews, which I still see are up. Hmmm. *scratches head* So just so people know, this product ruined someone else's teeth, caused irreversible jaw damage to another, & chronic headaches that persisted weeks after discontinuing use in 3 of the worst I remember which don't appear now. LISTEN TO THOSE WHO SAY THEY HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS HERE! Just spend the extra few dollars for the regular type most are made like. It's not worth it on this one. Sometimes it is, & sometimes it isn't... This is one of those that might end a customer in more money in dental repairs than is worth saving. Anyone with serious dental problems should avoid this. If you're teeth aren't perfectly aligned, you have TMJ, loose fillings or any sore spots, or even inflamed gums/gum disease. Come to think of it, another reviewer (like me) had also experienced this device cutting into the gum line/bleeding gums (which can cause nerve damage). Best to ask your doctor before switching brands or trying a different design!

updated review - better than the rest of them!
This is the first time that i've had to buy a night guard. I bought this item a week ago and followed the directions to fit the guard properly in my mouth. The first guard i had i melted it by accident b/c the water was too hot but i salvaged the guard and was able to fit it in my mouth. after 2 nights i noticed that the guard was really tight on my teeth and i was getting sores in my mouth. I figured it might have been the fact that it was melted too much so i tried the 2nd guard. The 2nd guard it took me a few times before i could get an ok fit.I have a very small mouth and no matter how many times I fit the guard into my mouth at night my lips won't come together, they end up being open just a little bit b/c the guard is too big. After 2 nights of wearing the 2nd guard my gums are cut up in the way back of my mouth and the upper front teeth area too. Overall for me, my mouth is wayyyy to small for this guard and I will have to find another guard to try that's a LOT smaller.I will add that i really didn't think a mouth guard was going to make a huge difference b/c i didn't think i grind my teeth that much, well it turns out that i do grind my teeth a LOT and waking up in the mornings w/o a headache has been wonderful!!!! I will wear this guard until the smaller guard that i ordered comes in the mail.3/10/2014 Update:So after trying many different night guards over the last two years i consistently keep coming back to this guard. I have changed my review from a 3 star to a 5 star as of today. Here are my reasons:Even though this guard was too big for my mouth, after reheating it again i was able to make it fit a little bit better so that my lips now touch when i close my mouth. Plus i cut the front part down to fit my teeth so that it wasn't hitting my gums any more. (i even used a nail file to soften the areas where i cut)time and time again i keep coming back to this guard b/c of the fact that it STOPS MY CLENCHING & HEADACHES!! No other product that I've bought has done this at all!!! The thickness on the bottom of the guard is just right for my body to not clench as much at night. So i wake up w/o a headache which is amazing! After two years of mainly using this guard, i have worn out the guard so that the bottom of the guard is almost ripped through. So even though i obviously still clench at night the fact of the matter is that when i wake up each morning i no longer have a headache. I know that i needed to get a new guard the moment i woke up and had a headache from clenching my teeth.I hope i get another 2 years of out my new one.

Great, inexpensive option to Dentist-supplied guards
This is a great product to replace your aging or broken bite guard. I paid over $400 to my dentist for my first 2 guards years ago. Both were made of quite a hard plastic and after a couple years of use ended of breaking while cleaning them. After the second one broke I decided to try a hockey mouth guard as a temporary alternative, and ended up using it for the past 3'ish years. Hockey mouth guards are similar in design to this Archtek product in their form-ability and use, but the Archtek is thinner, made of clear material, and less evident when wearing. The hockey guard was black and had a dual density insert in the tooth contact zones, with small drainage holes. This made for numerous tiny ridges and places to gather crud over time making it more and more difficult to clean, and pretty ugly to look at when in its case. This Archtek is very soft, and very pliable, compared to the dentist supplied versions I had. It is also one solid smooth piece so should remain easier to clean than the hockey guard, and should never break as the dentist supplied ones did. I found it easy to mold using the supplied instructions, using water boiled in a bowl in the microwave. When it didn't mold perfectly on my first attempt I simply re-heated the guard and repeated/continued the process. I did this 3 times, and along with the mouth suction technique, also selectively heated just the front portion and used pressure with my thumb and fingers around my front teeth to perfect the fit. It holds its place sufficiently when in place to not fall off the teeth. Per the instructions, I used scissors to trim the front tab off once molded, and then also used a high speed rotary tool and carbide bit to further smooth the cut-off area. Then, dipping just that front area back in hot water one last time and a little rub of the finger smoothed the plastic very nicely. As far as function goes it performs as well as the dentist supplied guards I've had in past, at a fraction of the cost. And when the first one becomes too grungy to clean any longer, (if this ever happens), I already have a second one waiting to go due to the 2-for-1 bonus of this product. As a long-time user of grind-guards I highly recommend this product as a low-cost alternative to the dentist supplied versions. Unlike other reviewers who may be trying this product as a first-time guard and having gag issues, I find this product to be no more intrusive in the mouth than any of the dentist-supplied products I've used, and in fact, slightly less intrusive than the hockey guard, which was thicker and designed for impact protection more than grind protection. Great product for a great price if you need a grind/clench guard.

it was comfortable but I had to resize it as I had ...
I only wore for 1 night, it was comfortable but I had to resize it as I had miscalculated it the first time and it was a little off centre. Then I found a tear on the top and it was shapeless, so I guess this one could not be refitted if you made a mistake the first time. I wore it again the next night but it just felt ill fitting so I threw it out. There were 2 in the pack, so I will take more care when I fit the 2nd one.

... one size so if you have a smaller mouth like I do
The night Guard is one size so if you have a smaller mouth like I do, you will have to trim it down, but all the way around to make it not tough the gum and trim it thinner at the front because it's quite thick all around, and cut shorter at the back. After taking it out from the hot water, bend the front little inward to make it curl in, this way it'll not scratching your front lips. I like using it on my lower teeth as my dentist recommended. I have one from the dentist, much thinner and fit better of course, more expensive. But this one works too if you do some work.

Hard to shape correctly, kind of hurt my teeth.
I used both, shaped them per the instructions. I would wake up and my teeth would feel like they shifted. Eventually I became scared at the damage they could do in my mouth and stopped using them.

Not as comfortable as the Doctor's brand but the Archteck costs less ...
Not as comfortable as the Doctor's brand but the Archteck costs less for two than one of the Doctor's brand. I find this brand's plastic is thicker, harder and doesn't mold as tightly to the teeth. I find it causes a suction with the inside of my upper lip and I wake with a bit of a swollen area there in the morning if I have been clenching. Not sore, just like a bubble that goes away once I remove the guard. This said, you can cut it down to a point that it is reasonably comfortable. I have two of them so maybe I'll get a better fit with the second one & a little practice.
