which is a great convenience. I like the fact I can reach ...
I have four small dogs and each has a Midwest crate. For my two Cairn terriers, I increased the size to Ultima Pro, as opposed to the original size chosen for my two older dachshunds. This particular model has two doors, with two latches per door. The door on the longer side allows me to position them flat against the wall side by side, which is a great convenience. I like the fact I can reach to the back of the crate to position pee-pads or crate blankets, without getting on my hands and knees. It is also a slightly taller crate than the ones used by the dachshunds, and allows the Cairns more wiggle room. Presently, the 17 weeks old Cairn puppy sleeps in hers, and there is room for her older brother to enter and have a nap with her during the daytime. Probably two adult Cairns would find one cage a bit tight, but it is roomy enough for an adult and one sleepy puppy. I've used Midwest Cages for many years, bought many models for both dogs and parrots. I've always appreciated the fine construction of Midwest products, as well as the features included. I prefer the heavier wire gauge in the Pro line, as well as the type of gate latches. I do not use the dividing panel, never needed it, but it is a thoughtful feature which some folks might like to have. This model is taller than the two original Midwest crates I purchased for the dachshunds, but the same heavy wire. The wire dimension increases the heft of the crate, but I seldom pick them up. There are rolling rubber "feet" which do not scratch my hardwood floors, and I roll them as needed. Midwest provides two handles to attach to each crate and they make it easy for two people to lift crate with animal inside, should it be required. I expect these two new crates to last a long time too. I've had the dachshund crates, same quality, since before 2005, and they went through Hurricane Katrina without damage. I place two crates along a wall, end to end, a rug over the top. The crates are a place of privacy, security, comfort, and each dog has one to call his own. I never use the crate for punishment, but occasionally a time out is required--if you've ever lived with more than one dog, you know this! :) Without hesitation, I can recommend Midwest Ultima Pro to a dog lover. Properly sized, it will probably be the only crate you ever need buy for your companion.

Sturdy and as expected
Crate arrived in perfect condition. Any "damage" was microscopic and to be expected, such as tiny scratches where metal parts touch and moving the box will of course leave light scrapes in the paint, and a tiny slight bend (more of a slight curve) on one of the upper corners where it just barely slopes down. Nothing worth changing nor anything that would impact the integrity of the otherwise sound crate. As far as the reviewer that said the side catch doesn't line up with the end panel with the door, it just needs a little jiggling where the long walls are attached to the base. If you look, you will see the small metal tubes that hold the wall to the base allow the wall to sit just to one side or the other of the bar. You need to wiggle it so it settles toward the interior and that minute (⅛" or so) actually makes it so everything gives the right amount. Mine looked exactly like that photo, and I was skeptical that I could fix it, but I looked at the other side, did some jiggling, and it just worked. Be patient when setting it up for the first time. While the crate is foldable and technically can be transported, it IS heavy (intentionally bought this heavier, stronger version, but there are more lightweight versions if that is what you are wanting), so if you plan to use this as a permanent fixture like me, I recommend getting zip ties (see my photo), and securing any parts that allow separation when pulled with your hands. Trust me, determined dogs are MUCH stronger than what your 2 hands can pull apart. I wasn't particularly pleased that for being the "stronger" version of this line, the latches are the straight bar ones instead of the ones that have the extra "L" at the end that really lock in place so a curious paw cannot slide it over. No worries, just get one of those spring hook things (like the hardware that leashes have to connect to collars) and clip them to the handle of the latch so it cannot be moved unintentionally. This thing is now incredibly solid and my solid muscle, 30lb French Bulldog will be safe for an hour a day while I let the new puppy put of her x pen (and she will be safe from being trampled by him when she is exploring). I recommend this for medium dogs who are properly crate trained but can get a bit over excited sometimes :)

Must-have for dogs with crate anxiety!
In short, this crate is very durable and worth every penny if you have an anxious dog. I have a 50# pitbull mix with crate anxiety who bent the door and several bars on a basic wire crate in 30 minutes. Out of fear that he would eventually injure himself, I bought this crate along with an indestructible Kuranda bed (also highly recommended). He hasn't left a mark on this crate yet, after hours of use. In addition to being durable, I did not have any issues with the quality or setup; I was able to set it up just as quickly as my other wire crates. I also really like that this model has three doors, it's really convenient and gives me more options for arranging them in my home. UPDATE: I now have two of these crates because I was so please with the first and adopted another dog with crate anxiety. I'm starting to think that having a more durable crate that doesn't give into biting and other anxious behaviors helps to curb their anxiety. I have a wireless camera and have watched my dogs in their older, weaker crates and in these Midwest Ultima crates and they seem to give up and settle down when they realize that trying to get out of the crate is useless. This is just a theory based on my experiences. I'd also like to add that the heavy weight of these crates also makes it much more difficult for the dog to slide them across hardwood floors. My beagle slid her old crate several feet across the floor while inside (she's only 25 lbs with a very small frame) but hasn't been able to move this one.

BIG AND ROOMY FOR OUR SWEET GREYHOUND GIRL
ULITMA PRO DOG CRATE We have had our Greyhound girl, Kisser, for almost two years now. We recently lost our Greyhound, Natalie, due to old age. Greyhounds unfortunately suffer from separation anxiety. We have an eleven month old Whippet/Heinz 57 mix, Diego, who survived Hurricane Maria and is now our newest baby. We have kept him crated in our heated attached garage when we leave home. Kiss was doing OK in the house alone until one day we came home and she had freaked out being by herself. She was trying to get to Diego in the garage and did some damage to our wood work. We noticed before when we would come home that she was panting and seemed anxious but we thought she was happy to see us -- duh!! So, the only solution was to crate her in the garage with her baby Diego so they can be together. Fortunately for them [and us] we are both retired so they are only alone when we both leave and then for a few hours only. We are pretty boring so the dogs are happy that one of us or both of us is around. This crate is plenty roomy for Kisser the Greyhound. She needs the extra height. The crate allows her to stand, turn around, and lay down with the room and comfort that she deserves. We love the size. It is 49x29.8x34.8. It weighs 56.9 pounds. It has tiny little wheel things on the bottom so you can move it around with ease. It is easy to clean should she have an accident as the bottom is a heavy grade plastic. We put down plenty of blankets and pillows for her added comfort since she is such a delicate flower. This is a heavy duty crate for sure. It's very easy to assemble and the two doors -- one on the side and one on the end -- are handy to put the crate where you need it located and it is easy for your doggie baby to walk in and out of. The doors function all right. One is pretty loose and the other is very tight. We won't be taking it down anytime soon so my husband tie wrapped the loose door and we don't use that as an entrace or exit door. Some of the hooks needed to be squeezed a bit to improve their function. While very heavy duty, quality control is not as good as one we purchased about 15 years ago. My husband expected this crate to be made better especially for the price paid. There is a one year guarantee with this crate. I am glad that both our dogs don't have to spend the majority of their lives crated up. Lucky for them some days they aren't even required to be crated. However, Kisser seems not to mind being in this crate and it suits our needs very well for our special Greyhound girl.

Love the extra height in this medium size crate!!!
I absolutely love this crate. I have looked high and low for a crate that is the right size for my dog. I did not want to have to buy a huge crate for my dog just because she happens to be bit too tall for medium size crate...as if all medium size dogs have short little legs...why in the heck were medium size crates being made only a couple of inches taller than small crates? I live in a very small house so I have a space limitations issues so there was simply no way I couple bump up to a large size crate... Is exactly why I don't have a large size dog. My dog is a medium size dog and will never weigh more than 25 pounds or be longer that 24" long and 20" from the floor to the top of her head. The problem is most medium size crates are about 30"L × 18"W × 20"H. 20" gives her no head room. So thank you MidWest for making a taller medium sized crate. Not only is it taller, it is also several inches wider than other medium size crates. This is really a nice sized crate for a medium sized dog and it is very well made, nice and heavy. This crate has two doors with double latches on each door. Everything works smoothly with no problems and it is very easy to put together. Yes, the instructions at stuck inside but just look for the metal . It came with a handle to attach on top. I added a couple of photos so you can see my dog intge crate. She is a mini Aussiedoodle. She is 20" tall from the floor to the top of her head and 24" long from the trip of her nose to her back end. She weighs 20 pounds. The photos are a bit dark because I put the crate in the corner underneath my tall dinning table...it fits nicely under there btw. Some people have complained about the instructions being stuck inside the closed crate...which is true. However, if you look on the long sides of the crate you will see a clip (see the photo). It wraps around two pieces but will pop apart with one of them detaching while it stays attached to the other one. Do not try to remove this. If you ever want to pack the crate up, this clip will hold the pieces together. Once you have that unclipped it, you should be able to lift up the piece enough to get the instructions out. It's really not hard to put the crate together. I did it without using the instructions but I've put together crates before. Some force is required when you are hooking the end pieces togetger. Be sure the side hooks are in place before you clip together the top hooks and watch your fingers. You definitely don't want to get your fingers caught. The fact that these crates come with a divider is a great bonus. If you are getting a puppy that will grow into a medium size dog, this is a great buy. The divider will allow you to create a smaller space for your puppy and then as your puppy grows you can give it more space instead of having to buy two size crates. A small puppy should never have a lot of room in their crate because it will use that space to go potty in the crate. If you are looking for a great quality crate, get a MedWest crate! These things are definitely a cut above other crates regarding not only the thickness of the wire used, but the pan on the bottom is really nice as well. It is not cheap plastic. If you are looking for a medium size crate for a little taller dog, look no further! MidWest has exactly what you need.

Good Crate for Puppies
Very easy to put together. Well made. Basic metal crate that can collapse for transport. Has two openings. A divider is also provided. Great size for crate training puppies. I do recommend. Purchase a 2nd crate of same size. Purchased as "used" just like the first one. Great product.

Our second one...not because the first failed, but because we got another dog!
We really like these heavy duty wire kennels for our terrier breed medium dogs. They are just the right size, plenty strong, and still reasonably foldable/portable. They are still heavy, and a little awkward to collapse and open, but they do a good job of balancing weight and portability with durability and functionality. The flexibility of two door options is nice, as is the included divider for if you get your dog as a puppy, as you need to keep the kennel size appropriate for the dog's size during kennel training. The pricing here on Amazon for these kennels is significantly better than buying lower quality, weaker-built options at the local stores.

Glad I ordered this one instead of the icrate, or lifestages.
I ordered this crate in the size 37in. x 24.5 x 28 for my 5 month old American Pitbull Terrier Male. Im glad I did, instead of ordering the flimsy iCrate or lifestages crate. They are just too noisy, especially with an already 40lb Puppy inside it. I thought this was a much better deal because I did not want to spend $200 on one of the super strong crates I was originally looking at. I feel like this one will work just fine and will be strong/safe enough for my Dog. I really like how there is a lot less rattling. I wish there was a better slide out crate pan though. It seems to be the same as all the other ones. Pro's: -3 doors -No rattling -Much sturdier/better quality -Price isn't that bad Con's: -Front door latches are difficult to lock and unlock (Atleast on the one I got) -Was shipped in the same box it came in without any extra protection (Box was a bit banged up) -Slide out crate pan doesn't seem any more durable then the ones in the other crates. All in all, I would definetly recommend this crate for anyone wanting something higher quality and long lasting. It's great for people with stronger pets, who may do some damage to a weaker crate.

Great Quality
This is a VERY sturdy crate and of good quality. It is big enough for my Westie and is used when we go on holiday. I would highly recommend.

Quality crate from a great company
Arrived quickly to my door and it was fantastic not to have to do much lifting - I purchased the 42 and it’s over 50 lbs. Minimal packaging which I appreciate. Easy to assemble. I had to laugh a bit that the instructions were sandwiched inside the folded crate and I admit I was initially puzzled how to get it undone, but a quick internet search told me about the clips holding it together and after that, it was easy enough to put it together. The crate is not quite 43” as described everywhere but I had called Midwest and they assured me it was 42 ¾ - I had a tight space to put it in so needed to know. Once I had it together I realized there was a chunk broken on the pan. I used Amazon’s link to reach out to Midwest and they answered me in UNDER 20 MINUTES!! That is downright amazing. I sent a photo and my receipt, they asked me to confirm a few numbers on the crate, and they are shipping me a replacement. This Ultima is replacing a competitor’s crate that was half the price but that my new rescue dog damaged in a few weeks and completely destroyed in 10 months. He was only in it for a few hours every day but is 75 lbs of powerful “don’t you dare leave me and go to the store” strong. The top of the old crate was bending inward and the door had to be secured with multiple clips or he’d break it open. When a few welds broke making it dangerous, it was time to replace. This is the model I chose and while he’s only been using it for a few days I am very pleased with my purchase. A cheaper crate with the same double door feature might work for your dog but not mine. It’s clearly sturdier, the door secures with a latch top and bottom, and the company is amazing to deal with. Midwest does offer the iCrate as an less expensive option and based on my interaction with them, I highly recommend any crate from Midwest.

Pup likes it
Very durable, but the paint seems to scratch off more easily than I'd like. And the crate is quite heavy! On the plus side, our dog definitely likes this crate much more than his last one.
