Does this help with keeping electric automobile wires cooler?

I used this to insulate the spark plug wires on my hot rod works great no burnt wires not sure if this classifies as cooler

Can this be cut down the length and wrapped around wiring then ziptied to prevent chafing of the wires?

I would think constant rubbing would eventually wear through the heat shield You can purchase plastic wire sheathing to protect your wires It comes already split, just a matter of fitting the wires inside. Will protect from heat and chafing and much less work than cutting the heat shield and zip tying it all The stuff is not very expensive less than the heat shield
