New Cutey Honey Complete OVA Series

The OVA of Go Nagai's "Cutey Honey" is out and it's still a show I enjoy! Granted, this isn't for young viewers or even pre-teens due to scenes of Honey transforming in the buff for a few seconds so this isn't for little kids!OVA is 8 episodes which follow Honey Katsuragi, Cutey Honey the Lovely Warrior as she fights the forces of darkness known as Panthazora. She is accompanied by a family of misfits, a grandfather who seems to be a cyborg, a teenager who lacks confidence but has genuine feelings for Honey and his two would be Bonny and Clyde parents who are actually rather noble.This is as good as I remember and the extras are something to behold with music videos and trailers of the series. If you want some good animation or just some fan service, this is for you. The dub is good in my opinion though gets iffy with the yelling or random bad words but, again this was the 90's of dubbing.Say it with me, HONEY FLASH!! And enjoy!

I grew up in the '80's and '90's so when I saw that they were re- releasing this classic, I had to get my hands on it. I originally had them on VHS released by AD Vision and I was never able to get my hands on the last volume so when this included the last couple of episodes( in English dub no-less) I had to purchase it.

I am glad I found this on blu-ray as it is one of my favorite series when I bought it back when it was on vhs n the DVD's back in the late 90's. I'm also glad its got both English and Japanese languages and what I like best is of course, its uncensored...haha!😉

Having only recently discovered the New Cutey Honey series (born in the 90s, never knew it existed) I was greatly refreshed with its production values, "adult-themes", and self-aware plot. Fanservice as an art-form is dying both from internet piracy and modern politically correct censorship - but NCH is one of those shows you have to support for the effort alone.I learned NCH came out back in the days of frame-by-frame Hand Drawn animation, yet guys were somehow able to make the animation 10x as fluid as new stuff released today... The characters are enjoyably bombastic throughout, and Honey is indeed a Cutie. Besides the obvious PLOT, I found the freak-of-the-week nature of the "plot" to be fun as well.To be honest, I was just going to buy Cutey Honey Universe at first since I only watched episode 1 and I was glad they brought Jessica back to voice Honey again (Go Nagai apparently hand-picked her for the role) - but after binging the rest of Universe subbed, it just doesn't hold a candle to the New (now old) Cutey Honey. The plot of Universe is an edge-filled missed opportunity, the visuals are nothing compared to the 90s show, and the emotional breaking of Honey is Not something I wanted to see.So when I learned but a day ago that New Cutey Honey (complete with Jessica back) was going to finally be released stateside on BD? Well, here I am reviewing it post-buy. New Cutey Honey gives you that stark hand-drawn animation you want, that sweet 90s aesthetic you need, it's a pure genre-shaping classic, and it features a bright-eyed cosplaying superhero protagonist.Very glad people now have this option to be introduced to NCH... cause without it you've only got the old NCH VHS tapes, the 70s classic, and Universe...

The "New" version of the original Japanese Anime series from the 1970s (this one from the 1980s), with great art, decent story, fun adult humor and entertaining action. Creator Go Nagai being celebrated again!

Another great Discotek release. This is the 90s sequel to the 70s show. A fun blend of camp 70s Go Nagai action with early 90s anime visuals. You don’t need to have seen the original to enjoy this. I’d recommend Re:Cutie Honey over this but it’s by a slim margin.Please note this is a R1 release, so you’ll need a player that will play R1 discs.

After watching this 8 episode OVA I will say this is a great series and great follow up to the original series and is worth owning to anyones collection.

This is my favourite version of Cutie Honey. I Iove the extras in the menu.

健全なお色気の、良い出来だと思います。但し、途中で終わっているので完結させて欲しかったです。
