My transformer lasted 6 months. When the light on your fish tank goes out you want to get it on as soon as possible. This transformer is warranted for two years. To be fair did not try and contact the company. I didn’t want to mess around. What I did was get a replacement that was rated for a couple of amps higher same voltage of course. I was a little worried that connection wouldn’t be compatible but after reading other options came to believe that there was like a 95% chance of success. I didn’t get a variable voltage as I was looking for more capacity. Seems to work just fine. I hope this helps others who are thinking of getting something besides exact replacement as I had first go round
