Amazing product at an amazing price!
I love this product. I love the price. Bird pellets are expensive. I tried all the organic cold press pellets first and she didn't love them. They ended up being pulverized to powder and never actually eaten. She loves the small size despite her being a bigger parrot. She is 19 years old and picky. She instantly loved these. She is a plucker and after a week on this she has already been sprouting new feathers that look so much healthier, which tells me nutritional value is great. Yes organic is preferred, but it doesn't help at all if she won't actually eat them. Smells amazing. Just ordered another bag. Very pleased bird mama.

All our picky birds love it
Great bird pellets. Our recently purchased green cheek conures took to these pellets as soon as we offered them and had only been fed seed. They do have a strong smell of bubble gum but it's nothing artificial and it smells good to us. We have used this brand of pellets before for a old pair of cockatiels they to had only been fed seed for years and years 15+ and took to these pellets as soon as offered. Definitely great in the transition for m seed to pellets

Amazing food!
My Zoe LOVES this food!! I bought the Small bag just in case she did not like it. I got her a couple of months ago and she is about 9 yrs old, her previous owner fed her a seed type diet you get at Walmart 5 lbs for 4$. She looked ok when I got her but her feathers were dull. She was kinda playful but still shy. After acclimating her to our home I soon switched her over to this food and her feathers are so bright and almost glowing. She is much happier and healthier.

Great for weaning off seed and high quality.
Great brand. Smells like bubblegum. Good nutrition. The only thing I don't like is the texture of the pellets when soaked. My conure has an injured beak so he gets his pellets pre soaked. Other brands make a nice mush while these don't break apart and end up like a pile of tough sponges. It's hard for him to eat. I tried running it through my food processor and it didn't seem to break them up much since they are so hard when dry. Alas, not the brands fault my little guy needs soft food. Also, my conure did eat this when he was weaned off seeds the previous owner only gave.

My cockatiel enjoys this food as part of a mixed diet.
My cockatiel loves this. He was hand raised from parrot formula, to formula mixed with different baby foods, to pellets and many other types of food; so he isn’t the typical seed addicted bird. I mix this with Roudybush and a sprinkling of a seed mixture: he always eats the Tropican first: unless his favorite veggies are on his clip. I purchased this bag (this go around) instead of the one with the cockatiel picture on it, because my dogs had eaten my last bag & this was the most affordable version to arrive quickly, at the time of my amazon order. He eats either one just fine. The scent is reminiscent of fruity bubble gum. It was kind of alarming (to me) at first, but the bird (and the dang dogs) seem to like it a lot.

Senegal Parrot - No Success
Unfortunately, my Senegal Parrot doesn't like it. She picks it out and spits it to the floor. I've tried several ways to have her try it, but she's not having it. It smells strong but not bad...

A Nutritious Pellet Diet, Without Unnecessary Artificial Sweetners
The small size of Hagen Tropican is a perfect size to try on birds, that way I am not heavily invested in a pellet brand that does not appeal to them. The Air Barrier Zipper Bag insures freshness, and the bag seals up tightly after each use. I am fostering a cockatoo that did not get along well with colored pellets, so I thought to switch him over to something that contained no artificial coloring. The Hagen Tropican has been a success and the cockatoo--who had been inclined to episodes of extreme nervousness and terrible night frights--has calmed down considerably. The only thing that has been changed is his diet, and at this time, I attribute the change in his attitude and demeanor to the improved nutrition that he is obtaining in the Tropican. Although, there is a "bubble-gum-like" smell of the granules, after briefly doing my own ‘crunching test’ I can attest that this smell does not translate into the taste, therefore, the Tropican does not taste like bubble gum. I am impressed that Tropican contains not just the usual corn, but also soybean meal, ground wheat, soybean oil, peanut kernels, sunflower kernels, brewers rice, oat groats, flaxseed meal, spirulina, and a number of natural oils and other ingredients that apparently results in higher acceptance among birds that are not necessarily found in other major-brand pellets. Additionally, believing that birds need a certain amount of natural fat and oil for good feather condition, I have also observed that other pelleted foods are excessively "dry." The Tropican formula addresses the normal dry pellet formula with an oil content of 10% (orange, banana, soybean), which is a healthier and more palatable alternative for our pet birds.

Horrible Smell
The product had a small slit in the bag and when I opened it, it smelled like nail polish remover. I would never give my bird something that smelled like chemicals. Be careful! Before you feed your bird smell the bag!
