I slept with this under my pillow for a week and now I'm a proficient accordionist. 10/10 If you're a beginner this book will introduce concepts and patterns gradually and if you practice then you'll be a better player by the end of the book. Though it can't help with everything: learning an instrument is 90% practice and 10% giving in to gear envy. This book can help with the former but only drunk online shopping can help with the latter.

There aren’t many instruction books for the chromatic button accordion in English so this one is a find.

I play other instruments but just wanted to pick up the accordion. I had high hopes for this book based on the review. However, this book is not for beginners. It doesn't provide basic illustration to help you understand the accordion, no teaching of the bass keys structure or hand position, playing techniques, etc. Maybe more advanced players will like this book but it's not for a complete beginner.

This is more than an accordion method. This is a musical education with great pieces by modern standards and covers Musette, Calypso, Jazz, Blues, Tango, Bossa-Nova, Classical and more. Ricard Galliano is one of the great musicians of the 21st century.

This longtime adult piano accordionist finds there is no other English language book available in the US that teaches chromatic button accordion. (In fact this book is written to instruct both piano and chromatic button accordions) Without previous music knowledge the book is way too fast for absolute beginners. Its mere existence is commendable, especially for those without an actual CBA teacher, but the speed of presentation, and the lack of additional practice pieces necessitates supplemental material--perhaps the old Palmer-Hughes accordion course (written for piano accordion, and in the first few books written especially for children) and the French language Maugain volumes.

As a beginner I had hoped that this would help me with learning the Chromatic Button Accordion (CBA) but alas it just has some songs with fingering and the overall progression of the book is slow, focusing too much on musical note scales and not on learning or approaching songs or playability of the instrument.
