Bound By Vengeance (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles) Review: UNFORGETTABLE IN MY BOOK! - This book wasn't what I expected but I have to say I fell in love with the characters by the end of the story. There was a moment when I asked myself if I wanted to continue reading because in the beginning I wasn't sure but I adore this author and her talent and felt I owed it to her to give it a chance. I'm so glad I did. It wasn't in the same realm as the rest of the series but I believe it was the beginning of her building it to go somewhere else in her next books. I'm actually excited about the possibilities of where this story will lead us as readers. This story has a beauty and the beast feel to it. The male main character, Growl, is called a monster and, to be honest, this is why I wanted to stop reading. The name hit too close to home for me. As a child, I was given the nickname Monster because I was considered a troubled child. I later found out the name was started by my mother and it was painful but I learned to close myself off emotionally. I think that's why I connected to this character and had to complete reading his story. Cara was curious about him but fought wanting to fall in love with him. Something I'm too familiar with also. Although the majority of people out there don't understand this type of relationship, there are some people who may be able to relate and I'm one of them. This story helped me see myself from the outside and realize I'm not to blame for the names I've been called. The story itself is a beautiful one in it's own originality and I, for one, appreciate it. Yes, this book needs better editing and proofreading. I kept in mind this story was in high demand and, considering the author was probably pressured to release this book as soon as possible, I chose to look beyond this and focus on the story itself. Bound by Vengeance was not your typical love story but I was grateful for that since so many tend to feel like the one before. This was a story about finding strength, hope and love. It was about overcoming who people believe you should be and just being yourself. It was about surviving the unthinkable and going back to your roots and living among the family you were always meant to be with. It's about love in every sense of the word. After reading this book, I stopped to ponder on what I read. So many times I read a book and move on to the next one, only to forget about the one I just read. It's been a few days and I still can't stop thinking about it. I remember what the story was about. I remember the characters and the way I felt while I was reading. To me, that is an accomplishment in itself. This book is one of the unforgettables for myself and I'm excited about what is next. Thank you, Cora Reilly. Review: 3.5 Great story but needs proofread and edited. - Im really torn on this one. I'd love to give it a 5. I love this series . I loved Cara and Growl. I hated that at times I wanted to quit reading because there were so many errors in this book and I had to work hard to figure what words belonged in place and what were missing. Honestly, the story itself was great and drew me in. It has the possibility of a 5 star read . Please , please, please have someone read this book and fix the words. There are parts where even the Hero's name is spelled Grown instead of Growl ! Parts of it have Cara telling her side and referring to herself as her and she instead of I . Other parts have obvious words missing or mis-spelled (used the words loved with instead of lived with) where I had to guess the meaning. Also, Growl is referred to or called a Monster way too many times by way too many people. I highlighted so many errors (at least40) and I quit because I am not the editor . On a very positive note, if those were fixed , I would tell everyone to read this book. It has the structure and possibility to be a wonderful read. It got me invested and made me want to finish the book so badly I continued on even though I was shaking my head frustrated with all the errors. I felt for Cara and Growl and rooted for them intensely. I am glad I finished it and got the complete story . I would like to recommend it to my book friends but in it's raw form now I cannot.

Bound by Vengeance is the fifth book in the Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles by Cora Reilly. "I shall bathe in the blood of my enemies and feast on their fear." I took a long break from reading for fun because I was getting ready to graduate college so when I saw that Cora had released this book, I was ready because I love the series so much. There were a lot of grammatical errors, but it is not something I typically care about in the book because I know it can happen. It doesn't affect my rate on the book. "She wasn't meant to be. Nothing he was meant to touch with his scarred, brutal hands." Cara is the perfect image; already has an arranged marriage in place to fit her perfectly princess image. Unfortunate events happen and Cara is gifted to the Camorra's most brutal and ruthless enforcer, Growl. "He was her punishment, a fate worse than death." Growl gained his named because of his scar on his neck that messed with his vocal cords and is deemed a monster. Accepting Cara as his gift, he did not realized how much he would actually start to care for her. "She was dangerous to him, to the life he'd built, to the person he'd become." The dynamic and chemistry between these two was adorable. It was a lot of confusion between the two at first seeing as they were owner-and-owned type of relationship before they started to develop feelings. I love the introduction to the Camorra. I can't wait for the next series. "I was falling for him, and I wasn't sure how to stop myself from feeling that way. But I had to. There was no future for Growl and me."

Updated review + rating after the book was re-published: First of all let me emphasize how much I've loved and enjoyed this addictive series. I've been hooked on it since the first book. Thanks to Cora Reilly's amazing writing I immersed myself completely in the cruel, merciless and bloody world of the Mafia. I loved the thrilling storylines which often made me gasp, scream and cry. The heroes are complex and multi-layered. They are in equal parts good and bad guys you can't but fall madly and deeply for despite their flaws. The heroines are no doormats. They may be physically weaker but they are strong and resilient in their own ways and thus should never be underestimated. The old version of Bound by Vengeance was in dire need of good editing because of many grammar and spelling mistakes and switching between POVs in the middle of a chapter. These mistakes have all been rectified in the new version. Some scenes were rewritten and more detailed and certain dialogues were extended thus giving the book more structure und depth. Cora's decision to take the book down in order to revise it was definitely a very smart move that paid off. Cara is the oldest daughter of a respected Camorra family. She has lead a sheltered and prestigious life. Cara is predestined to become the wife of a highranked Mafia member and the mother of his children. But instead of that she is given to Growl as a punishment for her father's sins and betrayal. A fate worse than death. Now she is an outcast to the society she once belonged to. And what she wants is revenge. Growl is the Las Vegas Mafia leader's best and most feared assassin. Born as an unwanted bastard child he had to face a life full of suffering and torture. But this didn't break him, on the contrary. It made him strong, ruthless and cold blooded - a monster. Growl knows that some things are simply not in the cards for him. That's why he is content with a simple life and the leftovers he has been given. Until the moment his boss throws a precious gift at his feet - the beautiful and innocent Cara. A princess with porcelain skin, soulful eyes and hair like silk. A noble woman he could only have admired from afar is now his to take. They were sure that he is going to break her. What they didn't know was that Cara is going to awake a part of Growl he thought he has lost forever. I absolutely adore Cara. She is a courageous, smart and caring young woman. I loved that she spoke her mind freely and wasn't the usual obedient and demure daughter of a mobster. Although Growl was intimidating she didn't shy away from him. Cara wanted to get to know him and to understand what made him the ruthless and feared Enforcer of the Camorra. Growl has such a tragic and sad past. Your heart is going to break for him when you find out what he went through. But behind that brutal facade hides a man still capable of compassion who thinks that he is undeserving of love and happiness which couldn't be more far from the truth. Cara was fighting her physical attraction to Growl at the beginning but when she discovered the real man behind the tattoos and scars she wasn't able to protect her heart from falling for him. Reading this story after it has been re-edited felt very different from the first time. It finally seemed like the potential of it has been fully exploited. It made me so happy that Cora gave us a short but super sweet epilogue which was unfortunately totally missing in the first version. It was all in all a great and highly entertaining read that evoked a myriad of emotions inside of me. I'm thankful that Cora Reilly has decided to revise Cara and Growl's book because they deserved nothing less than a story worth 5 stars!

This book got me in all the feels. I've been reading in the suggested order and this is the first one that broke my heart a little bit. Growls story is truly heartbreaking but when he finds his worth after meeting Cara, my god the tears. This one is a must read, definitely read in order but have the tissues handy for this one.
