Nice solid unit great quality air hose and connectors
In the seemingly never ending search for quality products Amongst an ocean or forest of knock offโs without any quality control You need look no further there is hope BECAUSE THE COMPRESSOR IS DESIGNED WITH ALOT OF THOUGHT IT DOESN'T TAKE ALOT OF THOUGHT TO USE IT IT IS WELL MADE AND MADE TO WORK WELL With so many models to choose from there is sure to be one that fits your budget and or your requirements The specifications of the compressor believe it or not match its actual performance The power wire and alligator clips are sized generously but nice and short so that the compressor motor isnโt unnecessarily strained The reality is if you have very long power wires the compressor has to work much harder to suck the power out of the battery this causes the compressor motor to run hotter and shortens its lifespan. if you wanted to run the correct gauge power wire long enough to reach around the car it would have to be almost as thick as Some jumper cables on the market. However it is infinitely easier for the compressor to blow the air through the longer air hose to reach the tires Speaking of air hoses that was the first thing i noticed when i unpacked the compressor. Again going against convention the compressor comes with a High quality hose that is designed to last more than the 4 or 5 uses that so many other of the manufacturers are using Itโs almost as if VIAR Understands the importance of getting the air from the compressor to the tires reliably and repeatedly without having stop every 5 or 10 minutes waiting for the compressor to cool down or In my experience stop smoking like so many of the inferior compressors on the market. My only real complaint is I wish the bag that it is stored in was a little bigger so that the power cord etc. Wasnโt bent over as soon as it comes out of the compressor. !!!ATTENTION When they say watch out it gets hot they mean it but thatโs a small price to pay So I guess you could say โI KINDA LIKE ITโ

Excellent Air Compressor
This is an excellent air compressor. Better than what you may need. This air compressor is a great product. It is probably better than what you may need. But as the saying goes, it never hurts to buy something better than what you need. You will never regret buying quality. I keep this air compressor in the trunk of my Honda Accord. I chose this model because it has alligator clips that connect directly to the battery rather than the cigarette lighter socket. Now, my Honda has small tires, 205s. I suspect the smaller models, the kind that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter socket, will be powerful enough to inflate my tires. But I chose this model because I also have a sport-utility that has bigger tires. This air compressor is powerful enough to inflate large tires with ease. To get this level of performance, it is necessary for the compressor to have a powerful motor. This powerful motor draws a lot of current. More current than the typical lighter socket can provide. Enough to blow the fuse on a typical lighter socket. That is why the more power air compressors connect directly to the car battery with alligator clips. Be careful when connecting this air compressor to your battery. Concentrate on the task. You do not want to mix up the polarity. Also, if your car has a small displacement four cylinder engine, your battery will be pretty wimpy. So keep your engine running while you operate the compressor, otherwise you might run down your small battery. All of this should tell you that this air compressor is not for everybody. These types of air compressors, the ones that connect directly to the battery terminals, are for those who know something about cars and batteries. You do not want to mix up the polarity when connecting. If you know nothing about cars, this compressor is not for you. In that case, get a smaller compressor that plugs to the cigarette lighter socket because you cannot mistake the polarity that way. It will be safer for somebody who is not a car person. But know that your socket driven air compressor is not going to inflate your tires as fast and as easily as this unit. There is always a trade off. Speaking of trade offs, I chose this model over a competing model that has a coiled hose. This unit comes with an uncoiled hose. It is more flexible than the type that comes coiled like a spring. This unit, with its uncoiled air hose, is harder to store but it is easier to use during a stressful emergency situation. Yes, you will have to find a way to pack the hose neatly. But to me, it is better to put up with hassle while you're at your driveway packing the car rather than at the side of the road with a flat tire. So while the coiled variety packs easily and neatly, that coiled hose will fight you when you want to stretch it from the compressor to your tire. And that will happen at the most inconvenient time at the worst location. A model with a coiled hose is neater and packs better, so it is not necessarily a deal breaker. You just have to know your own situation. If you have a small vehicle and are short on space, sure, get a model with a springy, coiled hose. Just know the trade offs, because that springy coil will be harder for you when it comes time to actually use the compressor. This unit comes in a nice box, but it does not come with a case. That should not be a deal breaker because it is easy to buy a cheap bag. Either keep it in its own box in your trunk or buy a small kit bag. I recommend that you keep all of the parts in one place because you do not want to be looking for parts during an emergency. Do what you can now to make sure that you do not add to your stress level during a road emergency. Highly recommended. This is an excellent air compressor for those who know cars. The unit feels like it is of good quality and the performance is very good. The air hose is easy to use. The alligator clips are sturdy enough, though I would want them sturdier.

excellent compressor
My previous experience with air compressors was with a "SLIME" brand one from Target which took forever to top off tires. It did the job but took longer than I would have liked so I gave that to my old man and purchased this one. I finally used this to top off all 4 tires on my Yukon Denali XL and it worked surprisingly quickly. Despite the positive comments by others, I was skeptical about how quiet this could be given the output but it is surprisingly quiet. The cord is long enough to get to all 4 tires on a Yukon Denali XL. To reach the farthest tire (rear driver side tire), I did have to place the unit under the hood but you can reach it with about 3 to 5 inches of hose to spare which is fine by me because the additional length would only increase the size of this product when you are storing it. If you have any regular passenger vehicle, the length of the cords should not be an issue. The light is not a selling point. I used it in daylight but it does not seem like it would light up much in the dark. If I could improve this product, I would love to see a backlight/indiglo on the gauge as that is what I would want to see if I am using this in the dark. Also would be willing to pay an additional $5 to $10 for a digital gauge that was built into this. The gauge itself seems accurate enough and with TPMS that gives me actual psi measurements, I can get by but it would save me the hassle of jumping back in the car, checking, fill some more, checking...etc. I wasn't sure why so many people purchased the storage bag with this but after having had this in my car for a few weeks, I would recommend getting a storage bag for it. The box it came in slides around on carpetted surfaces and will eventually come apart. I am not an expert on products of this type but it feels extremely well built and performs as I expected. I highly recommend this unit.

Great Little Compressor
I got this little compressor after reading reviews about it and determined this was the best fit for my needs. Pros: - Provides good pressure in a reasonable time frame - Light enough to carry around and store in Jeep - Power cord and Air Cord good length - Easy to attach to battery - Nice storage bag Cons: - Air Pressure gauge not extremely accurate - Not the cheapest solution So I took this on the trail with me a few times to see how it stood up to a 3 days of trail riding. That is 3 days, each day, airing down the tires and the re-inflating them after the trail. The compressor stood up to the test with flying colors. I keep my 35s at about 38 pounds. I air them down to 12 pounds on the trail. It took the compressor roughly 3 minutes 11 seconds to air up a tire from 12 pounds to 35 pounds. That is pretty good considering it took my retired compressor almost 9 minutes per tire. So I was able to air up and get back on the road in a little over 12 minutes. While it did air up the tires rather quickly. The actual pressure is off a bit. The compressor registered 35 pounds. However, an independent tire gauge reported 28 - 32 pounds depending on the tire tested. Not sure why the discrepancy but regardless it was enough to make it home and use my DeWalt compressor to finish the job. NOTE: This compressor gets really hot !!! I mean really hot !!! So be careful that you don't touch anything except the handle. I made the mistake of leaning on it to steady myself while disconnecting it from the tire. Will not make that mistake again .. The air hose will also get rather hot .. but nothing like the compressor. It gets so hot in fact that I decided not to put it back in its bag until I got home to give it a chance to cool down. I didn't want it to melt the bag. All in all, I am very pleased with the compressor and it will suit my needs well. Hoping it will stand the test of time as well.

Great as long as my rear passenger tire does not need air
Short version of review: Yes I like it, yes I'd recommend it, yes I'd buy it again. I'm only giving it 4-stars because I cant deduct a half a star for minor gripes. I picked this particular pump mainly due to another review which compared all the Viair models. Dont recall the reviewers name, but he compares all the models by spec and does an excellent job of identifying why he things the 88P is the best of the bunch. I needed a portable pump because I need to fill my RV tires at the storage yard or on the road (trailer tires at 65 PSI are notorious for loosing pressure between trips). I picked this model because of the duty cycle, CFM at high pressure and overall build. I've only had it a couple of days and it meets all my expectations. Obviously I cant comment on the long term reliability of the unit. It does not plug into your cigarette adapter, it has two clips to attach directly to your battery, which I think is a plus. Several people have noted the wires seem thin. While I agree they look thin, they did not get warm during a reasonably long operation of the pump. So I'd say the the gauge wire is appropriate to the intended use. Others also complained about the accuracy of the pressure gauge. I found it reads a few PSI low at 50-65 PSI, but the offset seems repeatable, so if you know it reads 3 or 5 PSI low and you are filling to 65 PSI, you fill the tire to 69 or 70 and then when your done check and correct with your digital pressure gauge. The air hose is nice and screws directly onto the tire valve. The unit gets pretty hot when being operated, but that is to be expected for these devices. As I said before, this unit does what you expect and does it fairly well. Now to what I didn't like No case. As others have said, for this price this pump should have come with a bag. I bought the recommended $10 black bag at the bottom of the Amazon page and it does the job well. Just annoying you have to spend another $10 when other models by this manufacturer come with a bag. 2nd nit. I have a Tundra Long bed pick up. Guess what? The cord, air line combo wont reach to my passenger side rear tire. It needs to be another 3 or 4 feet long. I assume it will be fine for most cars and trucks, but I guess you cant cover everything. I used my jumper cables as an extension cord (be careful not to let the two loose ends touch!) and was able to put air in my tire. Even though my tires are 33 PSI in the truck, it took a minute or two to fill up the 5 PSI I had let out to test the Viair due to the volume of air in my tires. But for emergency field use it works fine. By the way, I knew the cables would not reach between my truck and trailer without disconnectng the truck and moving close to the trailer wheels. But trailer has a 12V battery that is fairly easy to take out and move to the tires, which is what I did. So, except for a couple of fairly petty complaints I think this is a great item and would recommend it.

One of, if not the fastest tire inflator in this price range
Viair 88P review: My original unit was purchased in January 2013 from Amazon and is still in use. It has been stored in my car(s) trunk for the past 12 years and has been indirectly exposed to both freezing temperatures in the winter and very high temperatures in the summer. It has been used multiple times throughout these years and there is no sign of rubber cracking or wear. The pump works as good as new. When storing, I make a conscious effort to avoid any serious bends or kinks in the air hose. I used my old unit today to inflate 3 vehicles (12 tires) to the appropriate spec about 5 PSI per tire with an outdoor temp of 35 degrees F. It worked like the day I purchased it. It tends to get hot if running for an extended duration, but has never overheated to the point of failure. It has instructions on duration of use to prevent overheating. Trading a bit of extra time & effort is worth it - attaching this to the battery terminal is what makes this little unit the fastest tire inflator in this price range. I just purchased a second unit for our second home. The build quality appears similar and I'm hoping it will last another 10+ years. The current price is about $20 more than it was in 2013. The nylon carrying case is great to have.

Inflates 33 Inch Diameter Tires Easily!
SEEMS VERY QUALITY-MADE and should last. Fills my 1 inch/slightly lifted, 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro's four, "approximately 33 inch diameter" B.F. Goodrich KO2 tires nearly effortlessly (barely gets hot really) from 18 psi for off-road, to 30 psi for on-road. I like to run them at this "Stock Vehicle" pressure which does just fine, currently at least. I think they're more comfortable at 30 psi on-road, and the truck seems to handle, and even accelerate slightly better "to me". But I have had them up to 40 psi before too. Which one guy recommended for me. Of course, I'm sure it could easily fill 1 tire from essentially 0 to 30 psi completely effortlessly, so long as the tire is still/already "seated fully on the wheel rim's bead" surface. (BTW, an Australian Tacoma off-road guy on YouTube re-seats tires onto the rim bead, using just WD-40 and a match! However that's PRETTY SCARY for your fingers! And supposedly there are "other tricks" too which I'm unaware of. To "seat" a tire on a rim bead one must have a large "burst" of air or gases; Simply "an inflator" can't accomplish this). Just be sure your engine is running WHILE you fill so as not to stress your battery or drain it. I would DEFINITELY "recommend this product to anyone" with this size tires, or smaller. It will store VERY NICELY in a cheap Harbor Freight Tools "METAL 50 caliber Ammo Box" (which I would recommend for it very much!) I believe I got that, "metal 50 cal. Ammo Box idea" from another review, right on here! (THANKS!) Had one just laying around already. Stores great within it, and you might even never have to wait for it to cool down because they're METAL boxes. But "your mileage may vary" with that, due to different pressures and tire sizes! All in all, it's a GREAT little tire inflator and I'm VERY glad I didn't go with one of the higher size/psi rated ones. If you think "very carefully" about using the larger ones, there's usually "some esoteric drawbacks" with using them. One minor caveat is the built-in pressure gauge could be slightly more accurate. It will get you to 1 or 2 psi of what you try for. A separate, accurate, small guage is required to be more spot on. It was a very "good buy" and quiet too, at around $80 at the time of this writing. And I DEFINITELY DIDN'T require a larger/more expensive one, at all. REMEMBER the $15 H.F. METAL 50 CAL. AMMO BOX doesn't come with it. Pick that up "another time down the road" at your leisure. It's a winner, Best Luck Out There!

Impressive
Easy to use and read. Good quality and really powerful for how small and compact it is. Honestly, fill up time is pretty good as well, especially after off-roading.

Excellent compressor tyre inflator
This is a perfect compressor tyre inflator for my car and caravan. Really well made and works superbly. I bought a Lock On Air Chuck Tire Inflator Hose Adapter. It makes it easier and quicker to connect to the valve than the threaded connector with no pressure loss.

Quick and cool
Bought this to replace my old pump that served me well. The only thing that I miss is the autocut off function when I can set a desired PSI and leave the pump to do it's work. I have added a quick connect to the screw on nozzle that allows me to do all 4 tires quick without having to worry about cross threading. The bag provided is bit too small and is likely to bend the air hose into a bad acute angle, so I recommend that you get our own larger bag to store the compressor
