Granted, this live-action comedy is a darker, more pointed proposition, but it's unfortunate that few theater patrons got the opportunity to, well, judge for themselves. In Idiocracy, the King of the Hill creator visualizes what would happen if Devo's proposition--that mankind is in the process of devolution--came to pass. The catalyst: the overeducated start having fewer children while the undereducated have more. Enter Joe (Luke Wilson), a military librarian with no family and even less ambition. The Pentagon chooses him for a top-secret hibernation project due to his extreme "average-ness." They select Rita (SNL's Maya Rudolph), a prostitute, for the same reason. When the experiment goes haywire, the two emerge 500 years later--rather than one. Now it's 2505 and they're the brightest people in the over-polluted land. Everyone else is, basically, Beavis and Butt-head. Yes, the satire couldn't be less subtle, but the premise gives Judge license to make as much fun of junk food pop culture as dystopian classics like 1984 and Planet of the Apes. Wilson wisely plays it straight, even if the actors who surround him sometimes succumb to excess. And the effects may be cheesy, but that just adds to the fun. Idiocracy is a satirical comedy film that takes a humorous look at a dystopian future where society has devolved into a state of extreme stupidity. The film follows the story of Joe, an average man who is chosen for a military experiment that goes awry, causing him to wake up 500 years in the future.

On point!
Brilliant. The "Fox News" portion was an added bonus. If you all missed this movie when it came out, don't feel bad. Anyway, I was surprised how much I ended up enjoying it.WIKI says:Idiocracy was released as scheduled but only in seven cities (Los Angeles, Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Mike Judge's hometown, Austin, Texas), and expanded to only 130 theaters, not the usual wide release of 600 or more theaters. Zero press and promotion....

It’s got electrolytes
Gotta love Mike Judge’s eye for stupidity. He really went out of his way to grab our attention before it's too late to save ourselves from extinction by natural selection. Judge does a good job of pissing off corporate America at the risk of losing support from the film industry. Many tongue in cheek moments here, as what starts out as mindless nonsense ends up being a film that makes you wonder where we are going as a species. If you related to films like Network you will probably appreciate this too.

Take it in fun, but there is an underlying message we shold keep vigil on.
Maye Rudolph is darling. She is very pretty, i never noticed that so much on SNL. Very endearing eyes and just plain likeable.I bust out laughing at least 10 times during this movie. Society is leaning a bit this way now, but we will be ok.

Der Film wurde schnell versandt und ohne Zwischenfälle geliefert.Wer hat nicht schon darüber nachgedacht, wie sich unsere Gesellschaft in der Zukunft entwickelt hat. Betrachtete nan die aktuellen Entwicklungen der Jugendkultur und die durchschnittliche Bildschirmzeit... greift man sich auf den Kopf Dieser Film greift diese Situation auf und verarbeitet die Vorstellzng der Zukunft mit Satire und Humor. Obwohl der der Fulm sehr gesellschaftskritisch ist... trifft er den Nerv der Zeit ..Die Bild- und Tonqualität sind gut.Ich kann das Filmchen nur weiterempfehlen.... aus diesem Grund 5 von 5 Sterne...Film in den Player... und genießen...
