I am looking for something to stay on floor of pool for aquatic therapy drills. Would these stay on floor surface in 4 foot depth?

I doubt it. They are not very heavy and I could see them moving around in water with even the slightest touch. I use them on the basketball court and they do slide around a little bit. They are great for what I need them for, but I don't think they'd be a good fit in a pool.

Can I get spots that are all one color?

Yes they stay flat. We use them for circle time and the children sit on them. We havent used a sharpie on them but the surface seems like it would be okay for a sharpie. We like them very much and use them every day. They are very durable and Amazon had the best price.
