Wonderful News! God DOES Want To Bless Me!
I heard about this book by accident, picking up bits and pieces of an interview with Bruce Wilkinson, on my radio at work. Bruce said a beautiful prayer, which raised my curiosity, so I ordered The Prayer Of Jabez. Less than 100 pages long, it is a quick read, and it has had a tremendous impact on me. What I have concluded, for certain, is that God DOES want to bless me - every day. I think so many feel they do not deserve to be blessed. Mr. Wilkinson's focus is on one simple Bible verse: I Chronicles 4:9 - a simple prayer to God by a man named Jabez. (.."Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain."). Verse 10 reads, "So God granted him what he requested." Bruce Wilkinson has been saying this prayer to God for 30 years, and, as a result, he has expanded his ministry from 25 Bible conferences to 2500 Bible conferences. I would sincerely recommend his wonderful story of his 30 year journey, as well as, his suggestion - to try praying the Jabez for 30 days yourself - to anyone who has a sincere desire to be used by God in a special way. I have been doing this for 29 days - my 30th day is tomorrow. Although I told God flat out that I did not believe He wants me to preach the gospel to all nations (like evangelists) I did sincerely ask Him to use my talents(I'm a writer) for His purpose. This prayer has been an enormous eye opener for me and I am full of gratitude. A couple quick examples: I have made very positive decisions about my future - such as, throwing away what I don't need; becoming an expert with any gifts God has given me; and graciously RECEIVING any blessing offered to me for I am loved and forgiven by God- most important to shine His LIGHT and no longer hide it under a bushel. To summarize, get this book - it will open your eyes in a wonderful way.

Excited for God's amazing power!
I'm pulling up the boot traps and giving God the reins of my life. After reading this book, if you're serious about the kingdom of God, you too will take the journey and pray the prayer of Jabez.

The power of blessings
I have heard of this book many years ago but I had assumed a selfish egoistic prayer. But I was so wrong. I found out this prayer of Jabez is about being all God wants you to be and more. It’s about challenging yourself to have Almighty God fill you and use you for His Glory.

My fifth Time Reading
Prepare for huge answered prayer. Each time I prayed through this book, God created a miracle that could only come from God (family member's sobriety, miraculous physical healing, my dream job). However, also prepare for major spiritual warfare to show up, as Satan will battle to try and stop you from completing this book and stop your enormous blessing from happening. Read through slowly and persistently. And most importantly pray the Jabez prayer as you read, and God will bring you an incredible blessing you never thought possible. I wish more of the world knew about this book.

Great as a gift for any babe in Christ
Its a cute little book! It arrived on time and was not damagedMy personal issue is I am the type of person that needs things to get to the point quickly before my A.D.D sets in. And this book took its sweet time in getting to the point. So, it took me a while to read it to its end. But the information in it is worth gleaning from. As I am sure the author had some grief in gaining this wisdom,Great book for a gift!

Surrender is the theme of this book.
Although Bruce Wilkinson uses an obsure scripture to teach and challenge the body of Christ to pray, the theme of this teaching is surrender. Point one: "Bless me indeed in any way YOU want to, Lord." This is a "my hands are off and I am available for you to pour yourself through me" statement and request. Point two: "Increase my ministry in any way You want to, Lord" is another INVITATION from the servant to the Master to allow living water to flow thouogh the vessel to others. The idea here is not "make my ministry bigger so that I will get the big benefits materially or anyway but spiritually. If God chooses to bring blessings of the other kind, that is His choice, but not the intent of the prayer at all, and if it is, God would probably pick up on that. Point three: "Keep your hand upon me, Lord." This is a very sweet and intimate request asking for the guiding hand, healing hand, disciplining hand, and comforting hand of God to rest on his child and servant. Point four: "Keep me from evil, Lord, that I may do no harm and cause no pain." Christ himself taught us to pray, "Lead us not into tempation." This request shows the servant's awareness of his own falibility, but also his desire to "above all, do no harm." I found the prayer to be a teaching tool and use it in my own life. Followers of Jesus often tend to feel thier own inadequacies very keenly and don't realize how precious they are to God. The PRAYER OF JABEZ helps to break though some of those limits by encouring the person to ASK, but with an attitude of surrender.
