Super easy way to seal watercolor art.
I saw this product being used on an art demo on UTUBE to seal watercolor postcards. It really works well at keeping your pictures waterproof, and is very easy to apply. It goes a long way so you don't have to use much for perfect results.

Great base coat
I'm still learning how to paint, always learning. This transparent goes on first and I love the way it preps the paper. Honestly, I'm not sure exactly how to explain what it does but it makes the paint from brush a bit smoother. And easier to correct any small mistakes or smudges, mostly if it's because it lifts a level of paint off the paper itself or what, I don't know. But great base coat.

Perfect for coloring books!
Fast and easy way to make cheap coloring book paper accept traditional watercolor or Inktense with a wet brush. I wanted to use my play time to improve my beginner watercolor skills, instead of relying on colored pencils or markers. But even the books designed for watercolors were pilling and blotching under my heavy handed treatment. The DS transparent ground gives enough protection and a slightly toothy surface, plus allows more lifting, which has vastly improved my results. Very pleased! NB! I cheat on the application to make life easier (it’s play time, after all). Spritz about a teaspoon of water into a recycled mayo jar lid, soak a 1 1/2” flat taklon brush and use it to scoop a good dollop (3-4 tablespoons) of the ground into the lid. Using the brush, stir until the water is absorbed, scrape off the brush into the lid, and paint one thin layer onto as many pages as possible until you run out of ground. Spread them out to dry, wash the brush and lid, and have a cup of coffee. By the time the coffee is gone, something will be dry enough to paint on. Put the other pages away to cure for later, but I haven’t had any problems just diving in, as soon as everything’s dry to the touch. Obviously, this is not recommended to real art, but it works fine for casual play.

Good to prep unusual materials
I used this to coat a stiff cardboard to prep it for watercolor, and it worked great. It completely covered the original color. My four stars is because it has dried to a thick paste even though I kept it tightly closed.

Easy to use, dark colors absorb into this material and look lighter
I wanted to paint a watercolor on a canvas board and this was a great product to use for my project. I gave my canvas 2 coats with a wide paint brush and it went down smooth and easily. I did like painting on it. The watercolor paints dry much quicker when applied on top of this material. Also it absorbs the color pigment more than regular watercolor paper. It took more time to get a dark color to stay dark when painting.

Great product for watercolor painting.
This is very much like gesso. Paint it on any surface, dry - then sand it if you want it a smooth surface, if you leave it, it is a very rough surface. I like to do a second coat, and again sand it. Now it’s fully prepped. It is a lot like heavy watercolor paper, but more absorbent. I’ve used it on wood, shells, glass, plastic and it allowed me to use watercolors as opposed to acrylics paints. It’s a great product if you prefer watercolor over acrylic painting. Kind of expensive for a small jar, especially if you’re doing any large projects. But it is high quality.

Works well but a very small pot.
I'd not used this before as I usually put watercolours behind glass. Since the project I'd done was textured I didnt want to cover it. It worked well. For the price it is only a very small pot but it did go a long way.

Used on cheap watercolour paper
Accidentally bought watercolour paper which was not 100% cotton. It was difficult trying to paint on it, the smallest amount of water would buckle the paper. Applied watercolour ground on it with a broad soft brush, left it to dry overnight and paper became more usable. Colours spread as it should and was easier to lift. Paper was too stiff to buckle. A little of the paste goes a long way.
