The Donut: History, Recipes, and Lore from Boston to Berlin Review: Stellar little book. Great pictures, history, and recipes - This is a slim volume, but it is packed with beautiful photos, and a lot of fun stories. What really makes it stand out are the recipes. It's not really a cookbook, but the recipes included aren't an afterthought, either. I've been digging through many cookbook titles looking for the best donut recipes and have generally been disappointed. Then I pick up this cute little gift shop book and every donut recipe in it is a winner. There's only about a dozen recipes included but I like the selection. They include Mexican chocolate churros Whole wheat apple cider donuts Key lime crullers Pumpkin with maple glaze Tres leches cake donuts Red velvet and vanilla bean Venice Carnivale donuts with sweet wine custard And others. Very happy with my purchase. Review: It's not the donuts - An interesting book. As a Canadian, though, I must note that the section on Tim Hortons is slightly inaccurate. The reason Tim Hortons is a success in Canada is not the donuts - it's the coffee.

Great for giving as well as receiving
Great blend of readable, well-researched history and kitchen inspiration. My first recipe stop will be Dulce de Leche Raised Donuts with Salty Caramel Glaze. A perfect gift.

What a cute book! Great stories filled with much detail about the origins of this delicacy. Wonderful recipes for every kitchen.
I knew there was controversy about Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" statement, but I never heard the detail or the explanation. This little book clears it up. This book has an interesting story for everyone.
