Great quality! But grab a few tools before you start.
I am very pleased with the quality of this machine. All of the pieces feel heavy and durable. We are very happy with the machine now that it is all assembled. Do yourself a favor and grab a magnifying glass for the instruction book. The diagrams are accurate but hilariously small. While youโre at it, make sure you have a small Philips screwdriver, a very small crescent wrench, and a ratchet with a 15mm socket. That will save you time and hassle with assembly. The included flat wrenches made me want to stab my eyes out. A This is not the cheapest machine out there, but well worth the difference in price.

Still works great after 2 years of using it
Love this! I use it everyday! Great quality and Iโve had this for over 2 years now. Couldnโt be happier with it still.

Great buy!
This is a great popcorn machine. We bought it for our home theater. It's ideal when we invite friends over because it makes a big batch of popcorn. Pretty easy assembly & it looks great! Easy to use.

Great value, works well
After a long search and debate I settled on this 8oz model. I was initially considering a 4 Oz, but after reading various reviews on 4 Oz models, I thought that it would be too tight on the interior of the cabinet for maneuvering and cleaning and it only had two switches which meant that you can't turn off just the heat. I saw this same unit in a 6 Oz version with 3 switches on the manufacturer website and thought, let's get that one, but one last search on Amazon I found this 8 Oz unit that includes the cabinet for $20 more and free Prime shipping The unit goes together fairly easily using the included wretches but you'll still need a Phillips head screwdriver. Instructions are in the box with the pot. It was packaged very well. No broken parts or major scratches. The bulb and glass survived. Be sure you align the screw holes when putting on the sides. Only one side, righthand side will align the holes for the shelf. Make sure you assemble the handle first before putting the sides and back panels together. Otherwise you'll end up taking it apart again in order to mount the unit to the cart. The cart is fragile but functional. Yoy can transport the unit mounted to the cart but need to go slowly. It's top heavy and the cart is not very sturdy. If you move slowly and deliberate it'll work fine. The cart is for looks and is not designed for commercial use of frequently being moved. But it is functional. Mounting of the doors could've been better as there is a gap between the and the unit, wide enough for popcorn to shoot out, but after 4 uses, it only happened once. โ ๏ธ Caution โ ๏ธ The edges of the cart handle/shelf are incredibly sharp due to the thin gaged sheet metal used to construct it. I purchased rubber U channel to go along the edges. I'm surprised they have not been sued. I glad I chose the 8 Oz. It's not too big for the countertop or being mounted to the cart near my TV. The bigger pot makes it easier to clean and I can cook anywhere between 4 to 8 ounces at once. Having the ability to turn off the heat while the turner is still rotating allows you to cut off the heat early when popping multiple pops in a row. This allows the turner to keep turn the kernels while the remaining ones pop preventing them from burning ๐ฅ. Overall it is a decent unit for the price. There are better carts, but they cost more. These 8 Oz poppers all function the same and likely came from the same Chinese factory. The difference in the looks (Top portion, cart style and color). I actually wanted the one with the word Popcorn on one side that get lit up by the light, but quickly discovered that will only be useful if It's not up against a wall because the Popcorn window faces the opposite side of all controls and access door. This one looks a little more discreet. I also noticed that some versions have two handles and 1 shelf, where this one has a single handle with integrated shelf. The shelf does come in handy but two handles aren't necessary. If they both had an integrated shelf that would be different. Cooking suggestions, follow the Popcorn brand instructions. However, here's a grateful tip. Add your oil and 3 kernels. As soon as the third kernel pops immediately add your kernels and salt. This will help lower then number of unpopped kernels. I had some kernels that I thought were no good. Too chewy, too many unpopped kernels. I changed my approach and nearly all kernels popped, the popped kernels were bigger and crisper than previously. I use virgin olive and Ghee together to get that buttery taste. But I also use what movie theater use Flavacol popcorn seasoning 1/2 teaspoon is all you need for 6 to 8 Oz of raw kernels. However, I use the Gold Medal Premier Flavacol as it does not have artifical colors yellow #5 and yellow #6 food coloring. It does have artifical butter flavoring which has been found not good to breathe in. I used it when I have guests, otherwise I just use more Ghee and regular popcorn salt (clarified butter than coconut oil). Do not use regular butter in these poppers, it will burn. Overall I'm happy despite the "cut finger" hazard on the handle assembly. YMMV

Low-cost Chinese manufacturing - minimally adequate with a few flaws - good luck getting support.
For the price, this is a "pretty good" value, but you are not paying for a high-end item here. First the positives: -Delivery was quick and the packaging was well-designed to protect the product (though not particularly easy to unpack!) -Assembly was relatively painless, just pay attention to the pictures. -The kettle heats very quickly and makes quick work of a full 8oz batch of popcorn. You will not need to wait long for the kettle to preheat. -The stirrer mechanism does a decent job of keeping the popcorn moving, and it's mercifully quiet. I've encountered no problems whatsoever with scorching or burning. -The kettle is a convenient, modular design that can be quickly removed with no tools, which makes for *relatively* easy cleaning. -The heating deck and heat lamp do a good job keeping popcorn warm and fresh until it's all been served. -The finish and graphics on the outside of the unit look nice and were in great shape. -If you follow the directions, you will get delicious movie-theater grade popcorn. Some gripes with the product itself: -The steel is the thinnest possible grade that will still do the job. The chute, kettle lid, handle/shelf, decking and old-maid tray feel flimsy and the unfolded edges are likely to cut your fingers if you aren't careful. Yes it's stainless, but it's not at all "heavy duty." The aluminum scoop is the flimsiest such utensil I've ever seen. We bought a nicer one to replace the one that came with it. -The kettle lid fits so loosely (likely to ease assembly at the factory) that the cam on the stirrer shaft can't reach the lid to close it while popping - this means you will have un-popped kernels and oil splatters all over the inside of the popcorn maker. This is because the first bit to pop pushes both lids into the open position and they stay there. There is a metal cam that is designed to push the lids closed when this happens - but it doesn't work as designed due to the way the hinges on the lid are formed to be over-sized. The other issue with the kettle lid is that due to the super thin material, the lids are so light that the first few serious pops blow them to the full open position. Heaver lids would go a long way to solving the single biggest issue with this popcorn maker. (I fashioned some weights out of washers that functionally improve this situation considerably - but this shouldn't be necessary!) -The instructions and pictures indicate that there is a tray on one side of the cart and a handle on the other side. This has been cost-reduced to a single tray/handle piece of the same thin stainless material mentioned above. It's a cheap feeling single part that was originally two pieces on either side of the cart. -The stirrer itself in my unit was bent upward to such a degree that it couldn't adequately stir the popcorn. I had to disassemble the kettle lid and bend and straighten and tinker with the stirrer until it was close enough to the floor of the kettle to do it's job. Once I had it shaped properly, it worked very well. Fortunately the stirrer is a fairly strong piece that holds it's shape when bent. -The graphics on the plastic popcorn buckets that come with it become sticky and smeared if you run them through the dishwasher - not just faded - but sticky. Weird! Some gripes about the company: -There is an 800 number on their web site. It's not in service. -Their "customer support" routes you to a 3rd party customer support company who has little or no knowledge of the products they are supporting, and apparently no ability to look up your invoice or order information. -The manual has errors due to the fact the design has undergone cost reductions (e.g. the missing handle.) This is a volume operation who's selling a very low-margin product and has cut every possible imaginable corner to keep costs low. Many of the trade-offs are sensible, but a few, like the loose fitting lid are just a little bit over the line of reasonable. If you are up for some fiddling and tinkering and will find a sense of satisfaction in working out the kinks to capitalize on a bargain, this is a great value. If you want a turn-key, plug and play, worry-free popcorn maker, you might experience some disappointment and/or annoyance - consider spending 2 or 3 times this amount for a high-end unit that will meet your expectations.

Just buy it!! Donโt overthink!
I researched endlessly. With reading multiple reviews, every concern I had was reassured! Iโm so happy we bought it!. Product was delivered on time. Packaged well. No damage. Assembly was fairly simple. Took about 1 hour. Came with 25 paper popcorn sacks, 4 washable plastic popcorn cups, measuring scoops and a metal popcorn scoop like you see at the theaters! I bought the popcorn packets as suggested through Amazon..the ALL-N-ONE premium tri-pak by Great Northern. It comes 25 tri l-paks to a box. Each tri packet includes popcorn, season salt and coconut oil. Turn on all three switches when starting. I warm up the kettle pot for about 3 min. I added the oil first to let it melt. Note: The oil will be solid kind of like a stick of butter. Donโt be concerned. Just let it melt completely. Then I poured in the salt and kernels. At some point youโll start hearing a sizzle because the kernels are getting hot. Give it about 7-8 min to start popping and soon after youโll have your popcorn!! I also purchased the At The Movies Popcorn liquid butter flavored topping!! OMG!! No kiddingโฆhands down the best popcorn made at home!! Ever!! We will never buy the microwave stuff ever again and this is so much healthier! Clean up can be tedious but all in all it took me about 15 min tops to wipe it all down and ready for next time. The kettle slides in and out with no hassle. Make sure you unplug it from the inside when taking it out. I did not use any soap when cleaning it. The oil residue after cooking made for simple wiping with a dry dish towel. No soap was needed. I was nervous and skeptical before purchaseโฆ.and now I realize I stressed for nothing. Itโs pretty easy and delicious and the kids think itโs the coolest thing to have in the house!! The โriskโ was worth it for us. No regrets!! We are so pleased!

Real movie tasting popcorn
Simply the best home movie popcorn you can make! This machine is a monster. The kettle is a full 8 ounce capacity so 2 or 3 runs and you will fill your capacity of popcorn. Match this production to a near 700 Watt bulb to keep everything warm. Needless to say, do not touch that heating lamp. Recipe to make that perfect movie theatre popcorn: 1 ounce coconut oil (included large measuring scoop) + 1/2 cup of popcorn (included popcorn scooper) + a heaping 1/2 teaspoon of Flavacol (measuring spoon not included and a little of this stuff goes a long way). Mix oil & flavacol together and when hot, add your popcorn - really no need to add additional salt. Enjoy! My box arrived damaged but it is so well packed that it did not cause a scratch to my machine. I could not figure out how to remove a box they packed inside the popper and had to cut it up in pieces to retrieve the goods. The manual sucks. The manual is for a different model where they have handle bars on both sides (mine came with just 1 handle bar, exactly as shown on Amazon). The nuts and bolts are not numbered and you have to figure out where they all go. Luckily, you have very small holes, medium size holes and large holes so you can pretty well guess where each screw goes. I was tempted to downgrade the review to 4 stars due to this manual crap but the popcorn is just too damn good and have to leave this at 5 stars.

Best quality
Having researched and read the reviews as you no doubt have I found myself worried about a few things. Concerns about packaging , popcorn bay size and unit size left me uneasy. I can confirm the packaging is the best I have seen , if anything over packaged. The inside of the unit was plenty big based on 4 runs so far. As far as the unit size it's absolutely perfect. Enough to make a statement yet not enough to overpower your room. Quality of northern popcorn is superb , I mean like top of the line compared to other models I've had. Easily the finest unit I've ever owned. I think if you choose this, your gonna have a wonderful family night as I just did no doubt. The kicker is cleaning, yes your gonna spend 15 min atleast cleaning it after each use if your a clean freak such as myself.

The popcorn tastes great!! Just like the movies
The popcorn tastes great!! Just like the movies. Good looking unit as well. I had an issue with the stirrer arm breaking off in the first week of use. I phoned support and they seemed to know exactly what had happened "did the arm break at the weld" was their question - "yes, it did" was my answer. Customer support was good and I had the replacement part delivered in about 7 days. I would have ranked it higher had the arm not broken off. The design has not changed, so I'm anticipating my the next break in the weld. If they are familiar with the deficiency I was hoping for a redesigned replacement.
