Cloth backed or paper ??

The back is covered by a thin sheet of no stick paper. You remove this covering to expose the adhesive. I suspect 5be 80 grit sandpaper is paper backed

How do you remove the paper backing?

Use a utility knife and work it in just a little bit on one edge. Continue the process until you can grasp the paper and pull.
