Banjo...why... *sad face*
i bought this originally for the banjo kazooie game, but after a few hours i started getting bored with the vehicle aspect of it. so i will split the review in two parts:Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts:This game is supposedly the third game (not counting any handheld releases of course) and rumored to be highly anticipated (even though i never heard about it untill i stumbled across it). I loved the first two games to death and beat them just recently on the xbla (giving you the added bonus of unlockable vehicle parts in N&B) but it just doesnt feel right. The vehicles, kazooies lack of moves, banjos...girth...and the overall lack of that nostalgic feeling. Being the banjo fan i am i cant in good conscious say its a good game. youre much better off just playing one and Tooie.Viva Pinata:OOOHHH man, at first glance this game looks like a childs coloring book come to life. you basically take care of a pinata garden and progress naturally by how well you do. now right now i bet most are thinking "thats pretty fruity" but once you start playing youre like instantly drawn into every aspect of the game! Let me tell you what i mean. About 5 months ago of so when i was still with my girlfriend Courtney i told her that i was gonna go take a shower, but before that i sat down and was gonna check up on my pinatas (i didnt tell her that part) well i thought it was just gonna take a few minutes and it really felt like a few minutes, but before i knew it my phone was buzzing like crazy and it was my GF saying ive been gone for 6 hours! thats how addicting this game is and i think with that ive said enough.so whats the ratings?Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts 3/5Viva Pinata 7/5

Unplayable. Rare is dead.
I bought this because I love RARE. I really enjoyed playing their games on my Nintendo 64. Unfortunately, their XBOX 360 games are not as good as the N64 ones. In fact, some basic issues make these games near unplayable.Viva PinataIf you have more than 30 or so things in your garden it won't let you place any more. This includes fence tiles. This makes it impossible to build enough fences to prevent total chaos from overtaking your garden. Without fences, foxes and snakes will randomly kill things. If you grow a thistle, pinatas will wander over and commit sepuku on it. This chaos is frustrating. I don't know what to do about it.It appears that a big part of the gameplay is in randomly guessing how to make secret combinations. Without this you may never get enough experience points to advance the plot. Also the voice acting is rather grating. Especially the lady who runs the shop I have to visit all the time.Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and BoltsThis game spends about as much time loading as Sonic '06. Installing it to your hard drive is pretty much required. It's not an exploration game like the other Banjo Kazooie games. You have to complete missions instead. Completing the missions is impossible unless you custom build a car that can do the mission. It's hard to know ahead of time what will even help though, so you'll have to attempt the mission, fail, and then go design a car that can do whatever it is you weren't able to do. This gets tedious, especially with all the loading.I got fed up with this one pretty quickly and downloaded the original Banjo Kazooie on XBLA instead. It's a lot more fun.I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1 because these games are at least interesting in concept, and I can imagine enjoying something very similar. I just wish the execution lived up to the creativity in these titles.---I notice there are a bunch of positive reviews on these. Please comment if you think I'm missing something.

An Interesting Duo of Games
Viva Piñata is a great game that I enjoyed for several months. The interactive game play coupled with the "virtual pet" feeling was pretty fun all around. You are playing from the perspective of a "gardener", whose sole objective is to have the most beautiful "garden" around. I say garden hesitantly, however, because it's really more of a free-range zoo that you end up creating. Animals are attracted to certain aspects of your garden and they come to live and "breed" there (don't worry parents, breeding consists of the animals retreating to their house and doing an animal-specific dance). The game lasts for quite a while, so it was definitely worth the ten dollars that I spent on it. Kids love it because it's so colorful, and adults love it because it reminds them of the Zoo Tycoon-esque games of yore. It's a wholesome game, appropriate for all ages. I never really got into Banjo and Kazooie, however. The game felt unappealing and repetitive. Friends of mine have enjoyed the game, but I personally did not. The one fun thing about Banjo and Kazooie is the "battle royale" minigames that pit one person against another in challenges of all kinds. From aerial dogfights to "water soccer", this game has it all. Although I didn't really care for Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, I loved Viva Piñata and enjoyed the time I spent playing it.As an added note to all of you who are "Xbox Achievement Hoarders" (for lack of a more appropriate name), Viva Piñata has TONS of easy and quick opportunities to pick up some easy G's.

Alright Deal
Viva Pinata: Good game and fun, my kids really liked it. It seems fun enough. (4/5 Stars)Banjo-Kazooie: Older games were way better "family games". Just collecting things. My kids literally don't play this and I see why. Way too complicated for a kid's game, where they need to "build and design". The cars are easy enough. The planes and boats though? Not so much. The levels are even hard too. I couldn't complete them when asked, they're impossible. A shame, as Banjo-Kazooie was fun for the N64, from what I remember. (3/5)
