It's been three months now; I can see that it's working.
It's been just over three months since I began using this product, so I've given it the time I needed to make a fair and accurate assessment. I am seeing new hair growth. Most of my hair is slightly below my shoulders and the new growth is still very short, but I see much less scalp when I part my hair, and that alone makes it worth the effort and expense of using it twice a day. I had trouble getting into the habit of using it at first, so I found it helpful to keep a calendar handy in the bathroom just for jotting down the time of each application. That way, I know I'm using it twice a day! I confess, the first two months, I often used it only once a day and occasionally forgot about it entirely! I now keep the pen in plain sight on my bathroom counter and it serves as a reminder to use the little bottle in my medicine cabinet. One thing that I didn't expect was that (although I stopped coloring my hair a few years ago and most of it has turned white) some of the new growth, even at my hairline, is growing in black, the original color! I like it, as my skin is very light and it gives me greater definition at the hairline. When I began using the third bottle, I re-ordered, so I'd always have a supply on hand. Remember, once you start using it, you have to make the commitment to keep on with it, or lose the new growth you've gained. Also, the package cautions that if a person's hair loss has progressed past a certain point, the product may not be effective. I decided it was worth a giving it a chance and I'm glad I did. Just remember, twice a day, every day, and give it three months as a fair trial.

OY! I LOVE THIS STUFF.
This worked great for my hair. I started losing a lot of hair when I entered my 50s. I'm not 52. The hair came out in masses, and it was not longer the huge, healthy hair that I had. (By huge, I don't mean 80s HUGE.) I bought this because it wa chapter than other similar products. The first week, I used about 5 times. I was going to use every day, but new habits are difficult to acquire. The next week, again, I used about 5 times. The 3rd and 4th weeks, I used 3 times/week. I noticed a difference in less than for weeks. Now, eh, I might forget to use it. I use it maybe once or twice per week, AND my hair is full, just like in my 20s. This may not work for everyone, We all have different hair, skin. If your hair started thinning in your 20s or 30s, this may not be from age-related hair loss. See your doctor. I do love this product! However, castor oil is also recommended as a hair growth product. I've done some research on it. It *may* help with other than age-related thinning hair. *Do research.* I'm going to try it on my husband. It's all natural, with no chemicals, no additives.

Arrived with box open so no seal on the product box.
This is a great product that I have used for years. It usually does not last for three months so I try to use it once a day or a few times a week. It works and thatโs happy.

It reallly works
I have been using Keranique products for over a year. When I started, you could see my scalp through my hair no matter how I styled it. The Keranique shampoo and other products actually made my hair look thicker right away. However, they are expensive. About a month ago, when I was getting low on the minoxidil, I decided to see if I could find it cheaper online. I found this offer for the Equate -- and it was a 3-month supply for the same price as the Keranique for 1 month. I can see no difference in results with the Equate vs. the Keranique. Just be aware, you have to keep using the minoxidil or you will start to lose your hair again. Also, it doesn't work on everyone. The literature that comes with it says it works best for people that baldness runs in their family. I am one of the lucky ones -- I can style my hair any way I want now and my scalp does not show through!!

Works but not as well as Rogaine brand.
I like to try generic brands whenever possible and at the time I bought this, Rogaine was twice the price of Equate. I definitely saw improvement after a few weeks, however it made my hair color fade faster than normal and sometimes it made my scalp itch quite a lot. The Rogaine brand came down in price a bit so I tried it, and I have to say that it's worth the extra money. No itching or fading of color, and my hair is definitely thicker now than when I was using Equate. If Equate's price is the absolute maximum that you can afford, then go ahead and you'll be happier than without any minoxidil at all. But if you can spend a few dollars more, definitely spring for the Rogaine brand. You have to stick with it regardless of which brand you use or you will lose the new growth and possibly more if your hair was still thinning. I had chemo and my hair never grew back to its original thickness. I think it's as thick as ever now and my self esteem is worth the money. If you've never tried minoxidil, go for it but you'll probably like the brand name better than the generic in this case.

Same ingredients, a fraction of the cost
Yes, it works, but I suspect it works with varying degrees of success. I think starting it as soon as you notice hair loss probably makes a big difference in its effectiveness. Last time I checked, it had the same ingredients as the name brand, but it's so much less expensive. I've found that I do best on a slightly stronger dose of this, so I purchase an equal amount of the men's version, mix them, then redistribute them to the bottles. My mother's hair thinned to an embarrassing degree, and while mine isn't as thick as it was when I was young, I don't think it's noticeably thin at age 60. I read somewhere that mixing the two strengths was a viable option, and I haven't noticed any adverse effects. I'm sure it's open to discussion, but it works for me, and the price of this version makes it a good solution.

Product seems to have some positive results
I am a middle-aged woman with thinning hair, particularly in front. I decided to try this product, based on other reviews and because I didn't really want to spend the money on the name-brand version unless I was sure it would have a positive effect. I've used it for roughly 5-6 months now, although I do NOT use it twice a day; only at bedtime. The product is not thick or gunky, but it is not suitable for me to use in the mornings before going to work.. I think that I can say I have seen some positive results, although not anything dramatic. I think it has slowed the thinning some and there seems to be some re-growth, although the hairs are very, very fine and do not really have much length, so far. I will continue to use the product and I am optimistic that there may be more improvement, although I have to be realistic. I don't think my hair will go back to the way it was when I was younger. I suggest trying this product.

I think it works just as well as the name brand.
I've used both the name brand and the Equate brand. I really don't see any difference. I lost a lot of hair due to thyroid/hormone issues. I have seen doctors and take medications to correct the problem. But my hair did not grow back! I had actual bald spots and thought I would have a lifetime of hats and/or wigs. I saw a dermatologist that specializes in women's issues, including hair loss. He told me the most cost effective route would be to try 2% minoxidil first and if it did not work we would go further. I experienced visible results in less than a month! Now, a year later, my hair has completely grown in and is stronger and fuller than before. I've always had baby-fine, thin hair and I still do. But my hair is fuller, thicker and stronger (and longer!) than it was in my 20's (I'm now 52). Worth a try? Absolutely.
