LF001 - The Leila Fletcher Piano Course - Book 1

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I'm an adult who has not played the piano in years; and I find this book easy to follow and it takes no time to start actually playing songs. I highly recommend this series.

This book is very beginner. Let’s say it’s not advance everyone can start in this book it’s stops at chords in the end of books and some sharps. I prefer buying harder book with this book. Like Suzuki piano book 1 it helps with training fingers I am Piano teacher.- So know a lot about books. Good very for adults because they catch up slower.

My husband is a concert pianist and learned from this series of book 55 years ago. It’s his go to book for a third generation of new piano students.

This book is definitely for beginners and it progresses extremely slowly compared to others I've been using, such as Glover, Thompson, Alfred & Schaum. I didn't want to give it a bad grade because it has good beginner material which may be right for others, but it's not what I was expecting. I am resuming piano after limited childhood lessons and then many decades of nothing. I think I stopped playing around level 2 when I was a young child but I've bought multiple level 1 books to review the basics since it's been so long. The other level 1 books have been right for me to challenge and stretch my skill level. Considering that there is a lower level introductory book in the Fletcher series and the length of this book is over 60 pages, I was expecting that the early pages would review the basics and then I would reach material at my level, similar to my experience with other lesson books, but instead I found myself sight-reading straight through to the end without a glitch on the day the book arrived. Even toward the end of the book, much of the material involves very simple 5-finger position, one hand at a time, mostly one note at a time. This may be great for some, especially a true beginner who desires to move very very gradually. I wish Amazon had provided a preview of the material so I could have ordered something more appropriate for me. I hope this helps someone else !

This piano course is excellent for beginning young children. It takes them step by step and very rapidly too. It can be understood by less gifted children and gifted as well. By the end of book two the student is playing with both hands very nicely. Yes, it does not have all the color pictures and cartoons that other books have and it is a little more expensive than American publishers but worth it.

Great for progressive learning by the uninitiate, our children took their first steps in music with this book. Also useful for keeping discipline and method for the amateurs!
