Works amazing for steel even if it’s wet

Great for marking on metal and won’t rub off unless you really work hard at it. Almost impossible to rub off tho. So much better than soapstone. I will definitely be using these the rest of my life and I will definitely buy more lead refills soon.

As a metal worker there is no one marker/pencil that will work on all metal. That said, the problem with wooden Silver-Streak pencils is that when you try to resharpen them the lead is so soft that it keeps breaking,, you have a hard time getting good point. The mechanical pencil is nice because it is easy to get a point if/when you need it, you are not waisting your pencil away by resharpening it. When you need more lead, advance it. You can check how much lead is left pretty easily

I like these for metal layout. They are much more accurate than soapstone.

If your a pipe fitter this is the best for marking black steel pipe

Works great for cutting and welding. Illuminates when cutting and welding so that you can see your weld path easier.

I bought this based on the glowing reviews of a certain Youtube welding superstar. I'm simply not impressed, though. There's a few places where it works beautifully. Hot rolled mill scale takes a mark very well. Much clearer and sharper than the broken hunk of soapstone we usually use. Also, primed, painted, and rusty surfaces. Black powdercoat is no match for it, either. But if your material is silver, obviously it's not the marking tool for you. I tried to use it on stainless, aluminum, and either ground or cold-rolled steel, and it just doesn't show up well enough to consider it over a felt-tip marker. For the price, I expected a miracle product. I don't know how long I'll keep carrying it around along with my marker. It will probably wind up relegated to a drawer until I find it a couple years later, pull it out to try again, and put it back in its drawer, again disappointed. And about the price, I was surprised to find the same kit with refills at a certain store that sells Supplies for Tractors for about $5 less! Oh well. Live and learn.
