I ordered this skimmer for a duck pond. This thing works really well. Ducks are gross and this does an excellent job of cleaning the pond. Easy to install, Easy to clean

Cheap plastics. Spend a little more and get a savio skimmer

I wish I had paid more attention to the previous reviews about the leaf 'basket' not being useful. The leaf basket is horrible. The skimmer I replaced this one with was half the price yet came with a better basket and a fake rock lid. The mesh that came with this is supposed to be used with the 'basket' to filter out large debris. But it is of no use because it just sits there in the 'basket' and there are gaps and the mesh floats forward which allws the debris to circle around it. So that part of the skimmer is basically worthless.The fix I made was to replace the mesh material with hard plastic 1/4 inch mesh and cut it to match the size of the 'basket' exactly. Then I drilled some small 1/4 inch holes in the bottom of the 'basket' to let water escape but not the leaves.The two clips that come with this unit can be put to use holding the mesh in place. Then the mat material can be used behing the chamber since I use an external pump for mine. This lets the space inside the skimmer be put to better use doing something.I took off two stars because of the modifications I had to make to get the thing to perform adequately as a skimmer. The 3 stars I gave was because the unit seems very sturdy, doesn't bend too much when dirt is put next to it, and because the weir door seems to be a great design. Fish can get in but not very easily. I wish the top was made of faux rock, but that doesn't bother me as much because I can hide it.

Worked as advertised. My local pond/garden store was selling this for twice the price. Very happy with this purchase.
