Comforting breads, buns, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked delights from the Middle East There's always something sweet in the oven at Honey & Co. , the tiny restaurant in London where the day is marked by what comes out of the pastry section. In the morning, sticky buns are stuffed full of cherries and pistachios; loaves of rich dough are rolled with chocolate, hazelnuts, and cinnamon. Lunch is a crisp, crumbly shell of pastry filled with spiced lamb or burnt eggplant, and at teatime there are cheesecakes and fruitcakes, small cakes, and massive cookies-so many treats that it's hard to choose one. And after dinner? Poached peaches with roses, something sweet and salty drenched in orange blossom syrup, or maybe even a piece of fresh marzipan. This is the magic of Middle Eastern soul food. This is Golden . Previously published in the United Kingdom as Honey and Co: The Baking Book "I want to make every recipe in this book. . . . And you should, too!"-David Lebovitz, author of My Paris Kitchen and Ready for Dessert Review: Luscious recipes in US version of Honey & Co. The Baking Book - Golden is another beautiful cookbook from Honey & Co. In fact, it's the exact same cookbook as Honey & Co. The Baking Book, which was released in the UK last year. I wish that fact were made apparent anywhere in the publishers description, because I already own the UK version, and there's nothing new here. The only real difference is the use of F instead of C for the oven temperatures. Both books specify ingredients in grams/ml only. Don't own the UK version? Golden is definitely worth the money. I've made the ijjeh (herb frittata), orange tahini soft pretzels, chocolate sandwich cookies with tahini cream, roasted pepper lahma, chocolate hazelnut cinnamon krantz loaf (akin to homemade nutella babka) and the coffee cardamom walnut cake from Golden. Getting the hang of making the pretzels took me a while, and some of the recipes are quite involved. However, everything was delicious and eventually I'd like to make virtually every recipe. Most of these recipes can be made within an hour or two, even more if you don't count rise time. Almost everything I've made from Honey & Co (Book 1) and Golden (Book 2) has turned out to be richly-flavored, satisfying, crave-able, and completely outside of the types of dishes I usually make for myself. The flavor combinations are creative and unusual, yet homey and comforting as well. The only recipe that hasn't turned out for me was their potato bread in Book 1, and that was likely my mistake somewhere along the way (or my sad potato). My old roommate was from Israel, and these recipes have earned his seal of approval too. Review: Wonderful and different flavors - Wonderful and different flavors! Sweet and savory, so something for everyone. The only drawback for me, but I can always convert them on my own, is that the measurements are in grams and liters.

Luscious recipes in US version of Honey & Co. The Baking Book

Recommended!
I love these writers and can't wait to go to Honey and Co. On my next trip to London. These recipes are a bit exotic but practical, easy, and delicious. I have no trouble finding the ingredients or following the well thought out instructions. Ihad a taste of their desert magic in their first cookbook, but this one is simply amazing.

Love this book have tried a few of the recipes ...
Love this book have tried a few of the recipes and they all turned out perfectly - directions are clear and easy to follow. I do like food with a middle eastern flair. Wish I could transport myself to London to sample their food directly. It is very rare that more than a few recipes in a recipe interest me - this one I had numerous post it notes all over the book.

Creative, fantastic recipes in a delightful book!
One of the most inspiring and inventive cookbooks I've purchased in years. Highly recommend, especially if you enjoy Middle Eastern cuisine and flavors. This has become an instant go-to in my kitchen.

Beautiful cookbook but recipes do not come out right.
First, I must say this book is beautiful and I have read the whole book. The problem is that I have tried to make one of the recipes twice now and still it does not come out right. I think I might write the authors to make sure there is not something that I am doing wrong. I even bought a new scale. The finished recipe taste great but does not look like the photo.

Really nice recipes must find the time to try them out.
I buy these books with the intend to try several recipes, however, have yet to do so. I looked through the book and found some really nice recipes but lacked one or two ingredients. After getting the ingredients I forgot what I bought them for. I must say the recipes were really nice.

A good book.
Got this as a gift for my wife and as a baker she has nothing but great things to say about it. Rock solid recipes and very inspirational.

Beautiful Cookbook
I LOVE this book. I always find it difficult to find middle-eastern recipe books in Canada and this one is a really great one. The recipes include a lot of interesting flavours and I especially love that there are also savoury recipes! This is a very beautiful cookbook, the food photography is amazing.
