I was skeptical... Now I'm a convert!!
Like the headline says I was skeptical about a waist mounted running light. However now that I've started using it for my winter runs (either early morning = dark, or later evening = dark) it's been a game changer. I used to run with a good Black Diamond rechargeable running headlamp which in itself is good but what I've found is that it's difficult to see roots and other ground level obstructions. Having a waist mounted lamp really shows the roots and other obstructions like rocks etc. As far as the light moving when you run you do get a side to side oscillation as your abdomen moves from left to right whilst your head generally stays stable. However because of the wideness of the beam this does not compromise your visibility of the trail too much. You still get a consistent cone of light in front of you where you can see where things are. I have yet to combine it with a headlamp as I found it's sufficient on its own to use on my regular runs in the dark. The light is plenty bright enough in the region I'm running in and I would assume it would be better in an even darker environment. The light itself is quite bright and you definitely don't want to look into it directly. It doesn't seem to heat up either. As far as charging there's an end cap that half screws off and exposes the USB port. This endcap is sealed with a washer and on the opposite and there is another endcap with a washer and that can be unscrewed to remove the battery. As far as durability I still have not got enough time on this light to know whether it will last the true test of time (and water/rain). The base plate is made of a rubber material which fits into your flip belt and then it has two zip tie style Circular mounts hold it to the rubber material. This allows you to rotate the lamp up or down as your desire to give you the right positioning on the trail. This works very well and the light doesn't seem to rotate on its own. All in all I'm very happy with it so far and only the true test of time will give me a better chance to give a more thorough review. I believe it's good value for money but realistically should be a bit cheaper. Being a new idea I can understand it being a little bit more expensive.

Excellent hands free torch....
After reading many reviews on hand free torches, decided on this brand and design. It was by far the most expensive, however, seemed sturdy and easy to use. Unfortunately, the first one ordered stopped working about 3/4hr into morning walk, light wouldn't stay on brightest option, kept going from bright to dull, then wouldn't stay on at all. The torch was fully charged prior to use, was checked for charge upon returning home, green light displayed, so the charge was good, I'm guessing it was a faulty connection. Returned and purchased another, I'm a few days in of using, all is good, stayed on requested setting, worked well thru other settings when tried, the angle adjustment stays in place too. However, based upon my first experience, purchased the 4 yr warranty, just incase. Would highly recommend for hands free, comfortable walk/run....

Don't get "that" one, get THIS!
If you've been searching for a great nighttime light for running, "look" no further. I am sure if you have been researching you'll be familiar with the one that I am referring which is a lot more expensive. On doing my research I stumbled on this particular product and saw all the glowing reviews so I bought it. I'm amazed. This is simply the best light - waist or otherwise - I've used for running at night. I've used it in two races now and it has come through with top marks for me! I have tried Kogala, Petzl, and everything in between before finding this. I purchased the flip belt as suggested and my one concern was that it might bounce or move about on my waist. It did not, not one bit. So check that. The light fits securely into the flip belt and it is super easy to slip on (well... unless your legs are already sore from running quite a few miles ;). The light itself is incredible. SO bright and with a wide-angle that shows everything lurking on the trail - I'm talking rooty roots, "you'll put your eye out" branches and rocks... not wild animals thankfully (haha) - so you can feel very confident. I ran solitary with this light and felt safe and that I could rely on it. I did have it on highest beam for three hours at least and it didn't give any indication of fading out on me. If you're thinking about it, just order it - you will be very pleased with your purchase.

Works well with flipbelt for running
I have used it for running a few times before sunrise, and it works as described. It is secured by the flipbelt, and I never felt like it was at risk of falling out. The light is bright, and I use it in the lower brightness setting because that is all I need to be able to see the path immediately in front of me, and I believe will also help with battery life. The light swivels, and I point it at the path so it doesn't get in other runners' eyes. The light is as stable as you can expect it to be, given you are running - unless they add a motion stabilizer in the next iteration! The only thing I wish it had is another attachment so I can also use it with my running vest when I'm going for a longer run where the flipbelt isn't enough.

Bright, steady, and reliable
This is essential running gear for anyone who runs in the dark, dawn, or dusk. The light output is bright and clear, and it stays steady without too much wobbling or shaking while running. You can tell even just by the feel that it is high quality. (And it's a local company!!) I'm a big fan.

Best running light I've found
I have now owned this for 3 1/2 years, and it is by far the best running light I've found in terms of comfort and visibility. It is so much more comfortable than a headlamp - I can barely tell it is there. The light is bright, and sweeps a broad enough area that I can see where I am stepping but also look ahead at where I am going, and the position of the light means it is very stable. The light does not feel like it is bouncing around as I run. I find that the battery will last for several hour long runs during the darkest part of the year, on the second-highest light setting. My only real problem with the light (and my reason for giving 4 stars) is that after about 2 years it began to be difficult to charge - I had to prop the light against something so that the charging cord would stay in at just the right angle, and if someone in my household shifted it, I might wake up the next morning to find that it had not charged and I wouldn't have light for my run. This spring (just over 3 years after purchase) it stopped charging entirely. Since the light itself still works great, I had to buy an external battery charger. It's a little more clutter around my house, but a fairly easy workaround, and much cheaper than buying a whole new light.

Flipbelt for the win…again
What can I say, the light has been a life changer. I have been consistently satisfied with flipbelt products. I own two flipbelts, flipbelt running shorts, two bottles, and now this light. It makes me wonder why anyone uses headlamps. I start almost all my runs in the early morning. In the winter, my entire run is usually in the dark. This light is bright, stable and works better than any of the headlamps that I have used. My runs are early morning trail runs with my dog, and this light keeps the trail well illuminated. I used the bottles to bring water for my dog and me. The light stays stable, even with the flip belt fully loaded. I have used the light consistently 2 to 3 times a week for six months and I’ve had no issues. Thank you for producing such a high-quality product

I was hesitant for a while, WOW!
The price tag on this light definitely had me hesitant however after cycling through a handful of other lights (cheaper and some more expensive even) I decided to bite the bullet. I absolutely love this light! The location and attachment style to the flip belt are perfect. There is no bounce, the beam is SUPER bright and very wide. My clothes never get in the way of the beam while running which is huge. I run daily 3-6 miles a day on my gravel road in Wisconsin where the climate and road conditions are pretty bad. This light is the perfect fit for me. Worth every penny!

It works...it works well!
I don't leave reviews on stuff I buy...but this time is different. I hate buying things online, receiving them and being disappointed. Especially when it comes to gear. I live in the Pacific NW where it is often foggy throughout the fall/winter months and running at night with a headlamp presents some visual challenges. By bring the light source below your line of sight you don't create a wall of white 10ft in front of you. So I thought I would give this a try. It works. It works well. The Flip Belt (sold separately) is comfortable. The light angle is adjustable. The light sits inside a soft rubber mount bracket and angle is held by pressure and friction with the rubber mounting rings (have not tried in the rain yet). At 500 lumens (full power) it is bright enough. Yeah we would all like 1000+ but here we are at 500. It's enough. I have been really impressed at how stable the light is. It doesn't seem to bounce around and be distracting to your night vision. The light is a NON-adjustable wide flood. It is very easy to carry a second battery for back up power and is an easy change on the fly. So far...not disappointed. $100 for the light seems a little steep. $75 would be better in my mind.

Good hands free vision in the dark
Works well when running in the dark. Fits in the belt easily and does not move around.

A really good bit of kit
Very impressed with this light. I’ve always used head torches before and enjoyed neither the weight on my head nor the ‘bobbing’ nature as my head moves. But this light suffers from neither of these issues. You do genuinely forget you are wearing it; it’s amazing how something which feels heavy in the hand doesn’t even register when in the Flip Belt. The light produced is terrific, and makes me both stand out and much more able to see what is in front of me. I used to dislike the winter because the long dark night stopped me from running as much as I wanted. But this light means that I can easily run in the early hours or after dark - I have more hours in which to run.

Best running light!
This is an excellent running light! Mounts very securely on a FlipBelt on top of my phone. Does not bounce when running. Very bright and has an excellent consistent circular light pattern. The high setting is great at lighting up the sidewalk in front of me. Perfect for my early morning street runs. Far superior to the Ultraspire 200 waist light that I previously used. I highly recommend the FlipBelt and this light.
