Only can opener you'll ever need again
I bought this can opener in 2024, 2 years ago, and it's still opening cans like a dream! It cuts smoothly and turns with ease. There's never been a can it didn't open like slicing through butter. No skipping or sticking or free spinning without cutting. It's simple to use and doesn't require you to get it on the can just right to work. This can opener out performs even the electric ones. I also love that it's super compact so it fits nicely in my cramped drawer (I live in a 5th wheel). The price is pretty steep compared to others, but you get what you pay for. This is a top quality can opener that will last for years. It's well worth the price since you're not forced to buy a new one every few months. Just the frustration this can opener saves you from makes it worth gold!

Great can opener (just a couple uses so far)
I haven't opened many cans with this Nogent yet, but it worked wonderfully the times I did. It was kind of tricky to get it to latch onto the can my first attempt, but once I figured it out it works great. The inside of the can gets pressed smooth all around, so no worries about getting cut. It was easy to turn and has large wings to push/grip in order to spin. This relives pressure on any specific point or on individual fingers, which I assume would be helpful for anyone with arthritis/joint pain. Now just to see how long it holds up. My more traditional "original" can opener with the disc cost almost as much as this and lasted only about 10 cans before skipping in cuts. I'll change my review if this Nogent can opener fails any time soon. Edit: Several cans in and I like it more and more. Works great on squared cans. Easy to get on and off now that I'm familiar with it. I may buy a couple as presents.

Very cool little thing, reminds me of something I’d pull out of my grandmas kitchen.
Brilliant little device. Really was skeptical about this based on other reviews. Unfortunate to read that so many others had bad luck with theirs. I really must say that this is not the most user friendly can opener. If you really work in your kitchen at home - having some dexterity in your hands and some eyes to see whats going on, you are going to be unphased by the use of this opener. Removing the lid can be a bit tricky as this does cut the edge and drop the lid into the can, but the can doesn’t have the sharp edges which is nice. Handle wings are nice and big for easy turning.

Best can opener we have had.
So far this thing is great, It takes up way less space and does a great job opening cans . This silly little gadget adds joy to our life by just working the way a can opener is supposed to. Immediately after using this can opener for the first time I threw our old "made in america" cheap junk that did not work in the trash. I then did the happy dance grinning like an idiot. You get the point? This thing locks on the can and you twist it and it give you a nice clean cut with no jagged edges. PERFECTION. Why? is this performance hard to find in the world of can openers? That is a pathetic state of affairs. It is totally ridiculous that i find myself writing excitedly about such a simple product that works. All because half of the products we buy nowadays are junk that do not work new out of the box. Buy this thing,to replace over engineered, overly complex, overpriced, non functional and under performing junk. then have joy in simplicity, live life

Really good, but one issue!
FOLKS! I have cut open probably 7 or 8 cans with this myself, and it does a great job, but I have to warn you, watch for metal curly Qs coming off after the cut. I have not ever had a can opener do this, and I don't know why this one does. It is the nicest and easiest one to use out of any I have had, once it is started right I mean to tell you there isnt an issue except the cut will have a few metal curly slivers that we make sure doesn't get into the food in the can when taking the lid off. Seems like every can, varying brands, etc that this opener still does this on..... weird!

Simple, Solid, Works Great, a little costly
Love this can opener. Aside from the electric opener, this is our favorite for a manually operated can cutter. Pros: - Cuts perfectly - Doesn't slip / Grips can well - Easy to attach - Easy to remove (just slight turn in reverse fully releases) - Glides fine on can - Large wings provide reasonable leverage for ease of turning. They are not the easiest we have ever tried but they feel to rank right up near the top of not being difficult to turn, at all. Better than reasonable. - Consume very little space / super compact without the long handles in the way - perfect for storage, esp. when space is a concern. - Great for camping or backpacking! Cons: - A little costly for the amount of metal but then again, NOT cheap Chinese knock-offs, either. Final thoughts: - Love the product - Wish cost was lower - Highly Recommended - Would buy again if I needed another - may buy another anyway, just for travel!

Best hand operated can opener i've ever had.
I decided to try a lot of different can openers and to figure out which was best . This one was my over all favorite for every day use. I use it at home all the time. It opens cans well and seldom get s off track . It is much more compact in the drawer than the types that have long grip handles and it works better than any of those types that i tried. It is easier to use and a little faster than the types of hand operated openers that don't have a twist geared drive. it's bigger than all of those, and uses up more steel to make. It's convenience and speed combined with it's relatively less wasteful design than every other opener with a similar twist geared mechanism attracted me to it as the best compromise.

When used properly, very good
I understand why a few people have said this is fiddly to use or doesn't seem to stay on. Trick is not to try to mount this can opener in either horizontal or vertical positions, it goes on neither way despite how most can openers work! This little beauty sits on your can at its own unique slanted angle while it does its thing. You don't need to worry about that though, just put the cutter over the can lip and turn. It grabs and starts to turn and cuts easily. When finished, give it a turn on the reverse direction and it disengages. Very simple. Needs two hands though unlike some fancy electric ones available now. It is however very small, easy to store and seems strong and able to last a long time. I have owned this for several years now and it still works like new. Made in France. Nice practical gadget. ***Update after 9 years of use*** Still works like new. No rust, no issues, still does its thing. Doesn't get as much use as more and more cans move to ring pull style but this little can opener is there when needed. Great quality.
