3M Scotchlok Electrical IDC 905-POUCH, Double Run or Tap, Red, 22-18 AWG (Tap), 18-14 AWG (Run), 50/Pouch

Before I bought these I did my train layout the hard way with multiple port terminals. Once I was directed to the convenience of these ‘suitcase’ connectors and started to use them, I was overjoyed by their convenience. They are super easy to install and make great power/signal bus connections.

These 3M Scotchlok 905 connectors are great suitcase IDC connectors and work very well to connect smaller wire (22 to 18WAWG) to larger (18 to 14AWG) wire. I've used hundreds on my model railroad to connect the small (22AWG) track feeds to the sub-bus (14AWG) using regular pliers to close them and have not had a single failure.

Very easy to work with. Connectors pushed in hard, but makes good contact and stays closed.

I got these because I am running a series of branch wires off of a main line. These work well for the task, but are a bit difficult to ensure you get them closed fully. They do not seem to want to close fully unless you use a pair of plyers or something of that sort to get the leverage necessary to force the clasp fully closed. They do the job nicely; I am not sure of what losses happen due to the style of fastener, basically break the insulation with a metal bar. I have no need to test because as I said the product works for my needs.

These were excellent for an electrical project I had. I was wiring a run of LED lights and I initially purchased 2 different brands of a scotch lock lock off from 2 big box stores. They were a total waste of time, they were junk and made my project 3x longer to complete. Someone told me about the 3M Scothlocks and I ordered them, the quality is good, they are easy to use and my project went by quick. I’m so sorry to have water my time with the knockoff brands.

This works great. Much more convenient than stripping and soldering. I used it to hook up some low-voltage audio cables in my car. One note. This is for approx 18-22 AWG cables. if your cables are smaller than 22 AWG, then this cable holder might not pierce them enough for conductivity, since the gap in the electrical contact is made for a thicker wire. To surmount this for my thinner cables, I manually stripped both cables, twisted the copper together, and then I used the Scotchlok with both cables in the *same* side of the lock. The lock functions to hold the two wires together at the contact point, and I get a solid electrical contact even if I jiggle the wires around. Used this way, the lock also provided a reasonably mechanical hold (I tested by lightly tugging on the contact - but didn't pull with all my might either...)

Provide a good connection and are very easy to use.

Well worth it. Compatible with gauge wires i use for runs and taps. Better than the knockoffs

This 3M product is so easy to use as long as you use the cable sizes stated. Don't buy cheap rip offs.
