Wanted fabric for very large, floor to ceiling curtains in my workshop. These are much better than expected. Excellent weave - very consistent. Nice and thick. Surprisingly, only one seam on the 12'x15' - parallel with the long side. Measurements were pretty close, despite hems - only about 3" to 6" under. I bought six, so I could pick the best ones and return the two of the worst ones, but will be keeping all of them!

As have a couple other others, I bought these to make slipcovers for a couch and loveseat. By bleaching and preshrinking the fabric, I got great results! After about four years of constant wear and tear, I need to redo mine. We have three cats and a dog, plus grandkids, and the fabric has handled lots of hard use. One thing I would do differently now is not bleach the slipcovers every time I wash them. Going to try OXY instead except for hard stains (merlot, food spills). If you can sew, this is massively cheaper to make than paying someone else to slipcover furniture.

Having read previous reviews before ordering, right out of the package I laid my drop cloth out flat and measured it. Like some have said it wasn't the exact finished length the package said it was supposed to be. Mine was 5" shorter then the finished dimensions stated on the package. I went ahead and washed it once in cool water with a Tide Pod Free and Clear and a scoop of Oxy-Clean then dried on my dryer's warm/delicate setting since this is how I will be treating it in the future. Like other reviewer's said it did shrink a great deal length wise but after 1 wash and dry as stated above I was left with 5.1333 yards. This was perfect since I needed 5 yards for a sewing pattern. The fabric softened up quite a bit treating it like I did. The weave on this drop cloth was looser then I expected. If anyone was considering this drop cloth for making curtains it does have a lovely weight and drape for curtains after washing. I did get some very minor pilling in spots which was unexpected but if you are using it for a drop cloth or dust cover that doesn't matter. I'm using this to make a wearable muslin for a jacket even though the fabric became softer than I anticipated. I won't know how durable the fabric is until I make the muslin, it has seen some use, and it's been washed again to check for additional shrinkage, pilling, or other issues. What kept this drop cloth from getting 5 stars from me was the finished length should have been more accurate. The suppliers Chicago Canvas get these from seem to be ripping off the company enough inches of fabric on at least some of the canvases (if not all of them) that it would add up to quite a LOT of fabric. I still wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these either for a drop cloth or for 5 yards of med-heavy sewing fabric for muslins. I'll try to update this review in the future for how well it held up.

I bought this drop cloth to make slip covers for my furniture so I have no idea how it would fair if it was used as it was intended. I had no trouble washing it, so I'm not sure how water resistant it would be if you were using it as a protection from spilled paint. This is the most amazing drop cloth! One HUGE piece of canvas. No seams anywhere except the edges. I washed and dried it twice before using it. Unfortunately I didn't measure it before washing but afterwards it measured 121" x 95", so it would seem there was a fair amount of shrinkage since it supposedly started as a 9'x12'. That doesn't matter for my project, but if you needed a certain length or width, that might make a difference. I love the color. Some people bleach theirs but I like the soft beige color and am using it as it. The weight is perfect. Not too heavy to use in a sewing machine but not thin enough to rip. I think it will definitely stand up to heavy use. I will be ordering a second one just to have for future projects! Also, no ironing needed. That's a plus!

Absolutely perfect for bleaching, to be used for curtains, throw pillows, printed on for artwork, chair cushions, large floor cushions, recovering lamp shades, creating faux striped grain sack fabric to be used for long decorative pillows for bedding or table runners, etc. Unfold and place in the bottom of a large laundry room sink or top loading washing machine, fill with hot water and 6-7 cups of bleach. Using a long screwdriver, large metal tongs, or strong metal ruler (anything metal to use for stirring.. or, good rubber gloves), agitate, stir, turn the cloth every 90 minutes, making sure that the water and bleach level is completely covering the cloth. I usually begin this process on Saturday morning, stir and agitate every 2 hours throughout the day, then drain the sink and agh fabric to the washing machine, or turn on the top loading machine, adding 1/2 cup of oxiclean whitening powder to the wash before closing the lid/door and beginning the cycle right before I go to bed. The next morning, I check the fabric to ensure I’ve reached the level of white I’m shooting for, and if I have, I run it through the was one more time at a setting which I normally use for sheets.. adding regular laundry soap.. this helps get the remaining bleach and bleach smell out. This particular drop cloth works so well because it’s 100% cotton, and therefor absorbs and reacts to the bleach very well. If you use a cloth containing any type of synthetic in it, you won’t be able to get these to the level of white many of us desire. However, being that this is 100% cotton, it will and does shrink, so order one which approximately 25% larger than you need to account for shrinkage. I realize this seems like a lot of work, but it’s truly not.. it just requires a long soaking time and two rounds through the machine. Considering the cost of the fabric we would purchase by the yard at JoAnn’s or other fabric stores, these drop cloths are an absolute steal.. and in the end, will save you about 90%.
