Perfect add-on for Trangia 28
I own several Trangia 28 stoves (the "mini Trangia"). The stove's pot stand works well enough, but does not act as a windscreen. This windscreen is an ideal add-on to the stove for two reasons: First, it's small enough to nest inside the pot, sitting flat on the top of the burner, and between the prongs of the stand. Second, when set up, it's tall enough to cover about 3/4 inches of the pot side, thus preventing a lot of the convective heat loss. The windscreen itself is well built and functions smoothly.

Light, Solid Enough, Reasonably Priced.
The Vargo screen / support is well worth its weight and price. I have been using a home made alcohol stove for backpacking for 30 years and this unit finally lured me away from my tent stakes / rocks / heavy foil screen and support system. It is lighter than just the old windscreen made from a piece of "disposable" turkey roasting pan and much less fiddlesome than supporting a pot on three tent stakes or rocks. I may end up augmenting the windscreen function with some light foil around the pot. It will still be lighter than the old system.

After many other products and attempts, I finally found something that works.
After many other products and attempts, I finally found something that works. I've tried homemade windscreens created from aluminum license plates, beer cans, and roof flashing. All of them burn out after only a couple uses with my Vargo alcohol stove. A Chinese titanium foil windscreen off eBay didn't even survive a single use. This one has survived a 5 day backpacking trip while used with my Vargo Triad stove. My stove was used 4-5 times a day between meals and coffee. There is a little bit of minor discoloration to the shield (which is to be expected), but no significant physical distortion. It doesn't seem to be rotting away like my homemade shields did either. I like the convenience of just unfolding and folding much better than the stainless foil shield that came with my MSR Whisperlite International. It folds down small enough to fit inside my 1 liter pot outside of my cup (which contains my stove, igniter, and spork). For the record, I haven't used this with my MSR yet, I plan to try it, but if it starts distorting I'll quickly remove it before the shield is ruined. Although it doesn't even wrap all the way around my 1 liter pot, that isn't a big deal. Just place it on the side the wind is blowing from and it still works fine. My only complaint is its weight. I'm sure Vargo had their reason for not making this product of titanium like the majority of their other products, but it seems to weigh almost as much as my cookset (full titanium including pot, cup, spork, and stove). I'm not a big guy and tend to be fairly minimalist when it comes to camping (for example I use a tyvek tarp or poncho tarp), keeping my pack weight down is important to me.

Vargo Windscreen
This looked to be the perfect screen for my Vargo alcohol stove, which it is. I was, however, a little disappointed in the construction of it. The panels are nicely done, except that the tooling used to roll the aluminum for the hinges left scrapes in the metal at the hinges which were sharp edged, and needed to be filed down. Also, the hinge pins tend to fall right out of the hinges when trying to set the screen up around the stove for use. I found I needed to trim the hinge pins just a snitch, to allow me to peen the top and bottom edges of the hinge ever so slightly to prevent the hinge pins from sliding out. Aside from these minor issues, its the perfect compliment to my Vargo stove, and works quite well.

Great product
First I use this with my Vargo Tiad stove. A windscreen is a necessity with the small alcohol stove. Any wind at all tends to throw the majority of the cooking flame around to one side of you cooking pot. I have a snowpeak 700 mug which my stove and fuel nests inside and this baby folds up and goes on top of the mug lid in the snowpeak mesh bag. The highest windspeed I have used the windscreen in is approximately 15 mph. It did fine and boiled water with a 3/4 filling of the vargo triad. I saw where other gave this a lower rating on craftmanship, however, I did not notice the same issues unless Vargo made some adjustments. One note, this windscreen is just the right height for the small vargo alcohol stoves. It would e too short to use for a canister stove windscreen. Overall I really like the product for what I use it for.

Awesome windscreen
This windscreen protection is a great addition for the Vargo Triad stove or any other stove that they offer. It does what its supposed to do and its sleek and compact. A must have when backpacking or camping!

Light and durable.
Very light weight and very durable, but it is really small. It is to small to work with my cook set so I made a lighter one out of heavy duty aluminum foil.

Para proteger un hornillo pequeño es perfecto. No pesa y no abulta nada.

OutdoorMinimalist.net

Fantastic light weight windscreen

Thos cutouts for ventilation make it very hard/tricky to position on anything but a flat surface, but not impossible. Otherwise its a great product.
