Quality and apparently very tasty
I am allergic to a lot of grass pollens, and real grain or seed-based diets set off my allergies (its not the feathers, its the pollen and dust from the feed!). This pelleted food impressed me as being healthier for both me, and my birds. Parrots really should not be eating a lot of seeds, or the mainly seed-based diets, because that is not their natural diet and some of them eat too much of it (too high in starch) and become malnourished. Actually, they like to crack the shells of seeds and that is probably why some parrots go crazy for seed-based bird foods - and become unhealthy. Sort of like humans and buttered popcorn, potato chips and dips. :) This is a high quality pelleted parrot food, and they eat almost every bit (some dust or bits spilled outside the cage are lost, but nothing like all the shells on the floor, or the claw-fulls of fancy colored pellets that one of my birds likes to throw - like a little baseball pitcher). If I don't have time to give them fresh or cooked treats, they can thrive on this pelleted food alone and never tire of it. So it is clean, easy to feed, approved by all my birds, and is reasonably priced - -no more than some of the other brands. Their feathers shine and have wonderful color after a few months on this feed. I like it that Tom Roudybush did his graduate studies at UC Davis at the famous animal nutrition department, and then set out to produce one of the most wholesome but reasonably-priced commercial bird foods. It still outperforms the other pellets, even if it doesn't look like eye-candy in the bowl. It is minimally processed, wholesome, and apparently tasty to parrots. The medium sized pellets are meant for my amazon and pionus parrots, but sometimes they like the small or mini which are more "seed sized" and sometimes even the smaller birds enjoy gnawing on the larger sizes. It is funny to see a small bird clutching a chunk of large pellet in one foot and gnawing at it. BTW, if your bird is not used to pelleted food, and you want to get it to eat a new food, introduce very gradually. Also, empty the dish every day -- you don't want to find that the dish was full of shells of other seeds plus pellets, and your bird is going hungry because it refuses the strange new pellet. You might clean the dish in the morning and put just a few pellets in as a treat in the morning - -some birds pick them up as toys. Later in the day, add a day's worth of their old food on top of the pellets -- if any are left. For some birds, you might want to gradually increase pellets (only after signs that the bird does pick up and nibble at pellets) very very slowly, over a month or so, while decreasing the other foods. You might smear a tiny bit of peanut butter on a medium or large pellet and offer it as a "toy" (sneaky, but effective, if your bird likes peanut butter, as most parrots do). When your parrot clearly sees this as a special treat, you can then switch to this as its new food more quickly. My birds were raised with all sorts of foods, so are not picky, but given a choice, now will pick out the Roudybush pellets and eat them first! Fun to watch them hurrying to the food bowl and lingering over a size that fits nicely in their claw when they want to pick something up to eat as "hand food." :) I have not been able to buy Roudybush locally, and just bought a small bag to tide us over until next week when I will order a 10 lb bag.

Simply the Best Choice for your Feathered Friends
Love Roudybush for our 2 Sun Conures and 2 Caiques. It is simply the best researched, best quality product for your feathered friends. Zupreem is also solid, though having tried both, I'd say our birds prefer the Roudybush and seem to be healthier and happier when we feed it to them. At the very least it's reassuring that this is the food several respected breeders and aviaries use. It's also been scientifically formulated and researched over the years, and has been shown to increase lifespan by as much as 10 years over seed-based diets. That said, do not buy PrettyBird -- which is cheap poor quality. And do not expect your birds to love it if you've been feeding them seed. It will take time to transition them over, but they will adjust in time. Starting with RB as a mix-in and increasing the proportion daily is a good way. We also found that letting our Sun sit in the bag and dig in it worked well -- as funny as that is. We used to do all seed (thinking this was the right thing to do) and learned later how important it is to balance our birds diets with more organic (non-seed foods). Now we use mostly Roudybush and fresh fruit daily, with just a small amount of seed (either as a treat some days, or as a mix in -- though we've found that mixing the two is sometimes counter productive as one of our Suns will dump all the pellets on the floor of the cage trying to get the seed). One note -- this medium size can work for Caiques and Conures (esp if you have the kind who like to crunch things up), but we find the smaller size suits our birds better. Just good to know you can buy this in a pinch if the small size is out of stock when you need it.

The only food my Indian ringneck will eat
This is the only bird food we feed our Indian ringneck, and he absolutely loves it. Iโve tried other brands in the past and he always picked around them, but he eats this one with no problem at all. The pellets are a good size, the quality seems consistent, and it keeps him healthy and happy. We buy it regularly and always keep a spare bag on hand.

Excellent feed
I bought this for my green winged macaw because her other food went up $20 and I wanted something a little less expensive. Despite what some people said about their birds rejecting it I decided to try it anyways. It had a good pellet size, smelled good and had a nice crumble factor to it. My bird usually dives into her other food but only ate a little bit of it when I put it in her dish. Usually she eats all her food by 5 pm which is her second feeding time. There were pellets left over. I waited a few days for her to get used to it but she never did. I did not want her to go to many more days without eating so I broke down and despite the cost bought her, her old food which is what I will keep her on from now on. I have nothing negative to say about this product except you have a 50/50 chance of your bird liking it. I didnt want this to go to waste so I gave it to my friend who owns a bunch of parrots.

Very Picky Birds May or May Not Eat
Roudybush is recommended by many Avian Veterinarians as a healthy, good quality food for parrots. I do use it in my rotation of diets for my birds, but as it is only 1 color, flavor & pellet size, my birds don't seem to like it as well as other brands. It seems to be digestible & the thickness of the pellet is appropriate for the species on the label. Although it's not a big favorite of my birds, I continue to use it as I prefer to feed a variety, in case of recalls, or to make sure they are getting their nutritional needs met as each diet is different.

Great Product, definitely worth the money.
I have a bare-eyed cockatoo and this medium pellet size is perfect for her beak, its big enough to exercise her beak but small enough for her to be able to eat comfortably. I go through a 10-pound bag of this food in 5 months, roughly speaking. This is great food, low in fat, no dies/colors/arrificial preservatives, and has plenty of vitamins and minerals for your bird's health. I usually serve my bird these pellets with a sprinkling of seeds and fruits/veggies either with the pellets or throughout the day depending on the food. For first time pellet feeders, this food will create a lot of crumbs so don't be alarmed when it looks like more of the pellet ends up on the bottom of the cage than in your bird's stomach. I didn't have too many problems switching my bird over, the bag gives tips on how to switch over. I chose to wean my bird and it took about 6 weeks before she was no longer dependent on a seed diet. I buy regularly from Amazon because no pet stores near me sell this food. It arrives pretty quickly, I reccommend this product.
