Soul-wrenchingly lovely
I first saw these chimes at a local nursery almost 10 years ago. I had listened to every one of their other Woodstock chimes, then tried the huge King David chimes last. At the first tone, I was lost. Captivated. Transfixed. Compared to the others, this particular chime was deeper, richer, and the resonance seemed to go right through me. The resonance went on and on, and the music it makes was just breathtaking. After a move, we discovered my old chimes (not King David) had broken strings. My husband fixed them with fishing line but they soon broke again. When I asked him about them a few months later, he wasn't sure what had happened to them. So....I said if he lost these chimes, perhaps it was time to get the awesome King David chimes? He thought I was joking, but I shopped around, and settled on the chimes sold on Amazon. Another site had them for $20. less, but I was more confident going with Amazon; they back up their products pretty well, and the other site was totally unknown to me. Only one of our trees is big enough to hold these huge chimes; they are about 7 feet long and weigh 35 lbs. I was concerned about the occasional high winds, but the chimes are so heavy they hold their own and are not too noisy. Also, my husband was afraid the neighbors would complain, but the people behind us love them! They were wondering what the beautiful sounds were so they looked over the fence, lol. They told my husband they are high quality chimes and had beautiful sound. They sit outside and listen to them, too. :D Another concern was perhaps they'd get stolen. After hanging them up, I discarded that worry. They are not only 35 lbs, but they would be extremely noisy to remove! I live in AZ, and the days are usually too hot for me, so in the evenings I stretch out on a lawn chair to look at the bright stars and listen for the chimes. They never fail to carry me away, and were worth every penny. Thank you for a lovely product.

It HUMS
It chimes with enough wind, but so far, it mostly hums. I love the hum. I was not expecting the chimes to be okay as the box was BADLY damaged. However, they were perfect out of the box. That says something about the durability of these chimes. Each chime was individually wrapped in a plastic sleeve. The strings are heavy duty, not thin thread like on Woodstock's smaller chimes. I like the look of the single cords going into the center of the chimes better than the spider web of thin threads on their smaller chimes. My hook was installed and waiting. I hung Orpheus under the eaves on the North East corner of the house to avoid a lot of exposure to direct sunlight. My new chime was hanging within minutes of its arrival. I did not wait for a gentle breeze to release the music. I gleefully rang it chuck wagon style. I returned some of the smaller Woodstock chimes I purchased because of the thin strings. They sounded good, but I was concerned with string failure. The Orpheus chime uses better/heavier string. I expect these will last many years. I have also purchased two QMT chimes (made in USA), that are higher quality chimes than Woodstock chimes. The QMT chimes have excellent sound quality: Bells of Vienna 36" and Shenandoah Melodies 55". Sold on Amazon. My silver Orpheus chimes are nice, but I love the color options available on QMT chimes. However, this is my favorite Woodstock chime.

Love these!
Just bought probably our 6th set for gifts. People hear them at the house and then want the same. Durable and relaxing.

Lovely
We just moved and on a whim did I decided to look up wind chimes, as I thought it would bring a nice feeling to our new space and look cool outside our window. After skimming the Woodstock Percussion results on Amazon, I went to their website and listened to a dozen or more soundbites of the chimes. I *highly* recommend doing this before you choose a wind chime -- don't pick a wind chime solely on the reviews or how it looks in a picture. It's all about the sound and how it makes you feel. The Chimes of Apollo evoked a lot of emotion in me when I heard them. This was one of my biggest purchases this year; I decided that if I wanted a good wind chime I just needed to bite the bullet and buy something nice, which will last a long time and sounds good to my ears. I have a collection of tiny wind chimes that just don't measure up to the quality and tonality of the Chimes of Apollo. I simply won't buy another set of wind chimes after buying this one. The low tones are calming, relaxing, and absolutely lovely.

Worth every penny.
If you are examining the product description of a wind chime this expensive, you are VERY serious about wind chimes! I am, too. I've never heard anything as nice as the sound of this chime. It is deep, melodic, and extremely resonant. Woodstock makes many high-quality chimes, and this one is no exception. It is clearly built to last, with tough, nylon strings, a composite (NOT WOOD) ringer, and a metal (again, NOT WOOD) suspension ring. We purchased ours to replace a Woodstock chime which had a wooden suspension ring and ringer. It faded and cracked after several years in direct sunlight, so we were interested in purchasing one which would remain nice-looking without maintenance. If you are thinking about purchasing this chime, hanging location and hardware are an important consideration due to its size. It is about 70"H from the top of the hanging knot to the bottom edge of the sail and 13"W. It is quite heavy (manufacturer says it weighs 18.5 lbs, but I didn't weigh it). The sail is quite large, so it rings (and RESONATES!) often in my moderately breezy location. You really shouldn't buy a chime without hearing it, of course! You can hear the chime at the manufacturer's website: [...] I hope you will enjoy this chime as much as my family does.

You WILL enjoy these!
I've owned the Woodstock Orpheus for over ten years and it still gives me great pleasure on a windy day. The tone, the resonance, the wonderful length of sound is truly amazing. And after ten years there are no broken pieces of nylon, no wear on the tubes to speak of (and I live in Kansas where it is windy, icy, hot, hail, rain, sleet, humid, etc). The wooden disc in the center of mine appears to be about 2x as thick as the one I see here, which I wonder about since it is hitting those metal tubes and exposed to the elements. I am still very impressed and happy. Bought one for my mother this past week, so I might add her comments here as well. Other chimes sound so "tinny" since I've had these. UPDATE: my mother loves these, AND, her sister came for a visit from Canada and loved them so much my mom bought her the same chimes! It's amazing someone hasn't posted an audio of these so you could hear them. They will sell not by word of mouth - but by sound of ear!!!

Pure Soul Soothe
The deep serene tone rings in a slow hum minutes after its gently coaxed by the wind. I’ve had neighbors peeking over fences and knocking on the door asking to see the chime in person. They often go outside on a windy day knowing they’ll be able to listen to its church bells sing. I leave windows and doors open often now, even when I normally wouldn’t, just to let the sound in to flood my home. It’s a purchase I made to memorialize an infant patient loss I invested hours trying to save as a Nurse... and the gentle hum of it has been soothing my soul now for a year. You won’t regret this but, but you’ll need some definite space and support to hold its towering 7 foot height and hefty weight.

Gorgeous chimes!
I bought my Woodstock Chimes of Orpheus, about 10 years ago and have enjoyed them since. They are large chimes, with a deep resonating tone, just a beautiful sound. The large paddle catches the breeze surprisingly well for such a big chime, but it's never too much as the tone is so mellow. I have multiple Woodstock brand chimes and they are usually well made. The Orpheus chimes, being all metal, are no exception and have weathered the years very well. My niece and her husband have complimented the gorgeous sound when they have come to visit so I bought them their very own set for their first home. Makes for a lovely gift and comes packaged well, with each chime wrapped individually to protect them.

Carrillón de viento
Buen sonido, música para los oídos. Lo he comprado para colgar en la terraza para que el viento haga sonar su música, pero durante unos días voy a disfrutar de él dentro de casa. Contento con la compra, ha satisfecho mis expectativas.

Klangspiel I + II
Alles in Allem sehr empfehlenswert. 2.
