Supportive
I recently strained my lower back taking out heavy trash from cleaning out my garage. I did this last week and then as it was getting better I did something stupid this week and strained it again. D'oh! I have been in pain the past few days but today I hurt much less and am more stiff than anything. This back brace arrived today and I really wish I'd found out about it earlier in the week.Yes, the plus-sized model of this is really heavy and big. But to be real here, I think those of us who are actually plus-sized need that in order for it to be truly supportive for our body type. When I have it on and adjusted, I don't really notice how heavy it is. I have very curvy hips and a curvy lower back and I find this to fit much better when I have the lumbar support thingy removed, which is easy because it is just attached with velcro to the inside of the belt. I have a lumbar support cushion installed on my chair back anyway so I really don't need it.I wasn't sure how much this was helping until I took it off to shower and noticed my stiffness increased. You have to play around with it to find the right fit for your needs. I find if I have it on too tightly, it makes my spine feel stiff again and holds it in a sort of unnatural position. You want to be able to move naturally but have some support when you do. It works better for me if I pull it down lower onto my hips/butt when standing and walking. I do have to pull it up a bit in order to sit comfortably.I'm wearing it over high-waisted yoga compression shorts and under a tank top. Then I have a little sports dress on over that. You can definitely see lumps and bumps from it so it's not 100% discreet. When I have it on correctly, the part of the velcro that is exposed is not the scratchy hook side, it's the other part. So I don't imagine it would damage my clothing. You do have to be careful about the hook side while in the process of putting it on though. In summary, I'm glad I have this and I would definitely buy it again. I will wear it in the future when completing tasks around the house as a precaution. Considering what most medical things cost these days, I think $25 is a small price to pay for some support and relief.

Superb design & materials; effective & economical; but men with guts must BEWARE SIZING
This product is well designed, and the materials and manufacturing are first-rate. The criss-crossing elasticized straps make it almost infinitely adjustable within a broad range. The velcro is very ample and comfortingly secure once fastened. This garment provides comfortable but vigorous and unmistakable support around one's entire torso, taking stress from core muscles that otherwise might be cramping or spasming; and it feels pleasantly heavy and very reliable. I frankly expected the adjustable inserts to be worthless gimmicks; I was wrong, for they are surprisingly effective in directing extra support where you most want and need it (for me, right over my sacral dimples, which is also where I've got my longstanding disc issues). In either the regular or extra large size, this product is a remarkable bargain.BUT: If you are a man with a pot belly like me, you will be positively misled by the manufacturer's sizing information. This is not a skinny belt that will ride your waistline, which for most men like us is below our protruding gut. Based on the manufacturer's recommendations and my own waist measurement, I ordered the regular size, and it was laughably small, even though the tape measure was telling me I was several inches inside its maximum girth. Since this garment is meant to support your core and back muscles, mostly ABOVE the belt line, the relevant measurement would be with a tape measure wrapped around the pot-bellied man's gut, and when I exchanged the regular size (and paid the higher price) for the extra large version, my frustrations were resolved and I was able to enjoy this product for its intended uses and benefits.

Plus-size review
I have lumbar lordosis (spine curves inward just above bum more than it should) and my lower back aches when I do a lot of stuff around the house. I bought this back brace in the plus size to err on the side of caution as the other reviews suggested.PROS: This sucker is basically a stretchy corset. It's very structured and allows you to pull it tight wherever you need the support the most. The plus size appears to be actually made for plus size bodies (for the most part - see below) which I appreciate. I put it on to try it out and ended up liking it so much I've barely done anything around the house without it. The removable lumbar pad is great, too - some days I need it and some days I don't. It's surprisingly comfortable beyond the issue below - if I don't need to bend over to do stuff, I can go for literally hours doing things with no pain.CONS: The plus size is not JUST longer straps, it's also MUCH WIDER. The ad photo had me thinking it was maybe 3 inches wide but the plus size is about 6 inches from top to bottom. I am an average-height woman but with a shorter abdomen and discovered this thing takes up most of my abdomen! Like I said, much like a corset. After adjusting it up and down to find the best fit, I understand why it's so wide but there should be a warning somewhere obvious. I bought it originally for gardening and won't be able to use it for that purpose as I can't really bend over while wearing it. And because it's wider, it's also heavier and a ton of exposed velcro (which catches on EVERYTHING). It does come in a plastic zip-top bag so, theoretically, I should have put two and two together and put it BACK IN THE BAG when I was done using it, but instead I (very smartly) put it on top of a bunch of yarn. Don't do that. :)All in all, I'm surprised at how much I like it and shocked at how much support it's giving that spot on my back. My posture is better while wearing it which is an added bonus I was not counting on. I really wish there was more obvious info on the difference between sizes because this could have been $$ down the drain for me if it was much wider.

Covering Size, Quality and Effectiveness
Injured my back in 1995 and one of those real tight fitting neoprene back braces was the best I've every owned and back then I wore a size 34 paints and in decent shape. After 15 years of back pain and I'm 62 now, the neoprene ones will not work due to having a big fat belly. That's what happens when you live with a back problem and exercise goes out the window. Tto me the sizing in the listing was a bit confusing, so I hope this helps. Today I'm a size 46/48 pants and where they tell you to ,I measure 56" . Ordered a Regular and it fit perfect. When you get it and go to pull it out of the heavy duty zip lock bag you note it's weight, then the size. It kinda reminds you a one of those WWE belts. When looking it over you realize this company was not playing around when they designed this back brace. It is well stitched and a quality product. While wearing it you can bend over to pick something off the floor but it is restrictive because it want to keep you in a upright position. I've decided to sell my house and it needs painting, so for a person who 3 1/2 months ago had a Decompression Laminectomy (spinal surgery) where the surgeon cut all my back muscles, took out a section of my spinal column out, scrapped my spine and ground out the hole in the hip for the spine. Well I'm doing WAY more than I should be, did my laundry room first and it about killed my back. So I ordered this brace. I still have pain while I'm working, but I was waking in the morning feeling like I was beat by a baseball bat, sense wearing the brace that has gone away, and also like I said I'm still feeling pain while working, but feel more stable on a ladder, and when I take a break and take the brace off my pain is dissipating more quickly. So I gave it a 4 on pain relief, but if you have a chronic condition, by now you should know no one thing is going to return you to normal. Gave it a 5 on support, and 4 on comfort, because you should know it's not going to be like your comfy like you comfy Pj"s. One last thing, I do like the way they designed the outer waist bands so that the both attach and work independently of each other. All n All if your looking at back braces I'm glad I made this purchase, and if your small framed I'd get the small/medium one, if your and old fat man like me the regular one works fine and can be tighten as loose or as tight as you want.

GREAT QUALITY/BUT ONLY 3 SIZES
Recently diagnosed with spinal stenosis & 3 compression fractures. My ortho doctor told me to wear a back brace 2 hours a day. So, I did a ton of research & found that, "Mueller," takes the number one spot for best back brace in 2020 on several Google health/medical rating sites.MY PERSONAL PROS:* great support for spinal stenosis & compression fractures* comfortable if in right size* great quality* folds & stores easilyMY PERSONAL CONS:* sizes are off* only 3 sizes* available in only 1 colorI AM SUPER ANNOYED!! DON'T RECOMMEND THIS BRACE UNLESS YOU ARE IN BETWEEN THE SIZE MEASUREMENTS THEY PROVIDE FOR EACH SIZE. I HAVE NOW TRIED BOTH THE PLUS SIZE, WHICH I SWAM IN, & THE REGULAR SIZE, WHICH WAS SO TIGHT I COULDN'T BREATHE!!

Mueller Adjustable Lumbar Back Brace,Extended
Mueller Adjustable Lumbar Back Brace, Black, Extended,As advertized. Well constructed. The Velcro is extremely adhesiveso be careful not to have any cloth or tissue that will quicklyadhere to the surface. Otherwise a good product which deliverswhat is claims. After years of participating in sports,I waswarned by my chiropractor that as time went by, I would startfeeling the pain of my youthful years and develop deterioratedlower disk pinching. After 2 days a week at the chiropractor andeighty dollars less.I invested in a weight belt 6" height. It gave me more pain It didn'thelp very much. Than I came across the Mueller belt. What a difference,it supports a larger area Hi & Low. And much less pain. And I discovereda great relief from placing two pillows. Lying down on the pillowsunder the stomach between the hips where your backside is arched up &chest facing down on the bedplace your head on additional pillow for 15 minutes. What a relief fromany disc pinching. Of course if you lose a great deal of weightback pain is less troublesome. I'm just not to happy that pillingis being created after each usage. I need to call Mueller and askif this a trouble area. Don't need to lose the Velcro strength

Love The Support This Brace Gives
My lower back problems stem from aging, that is to say Lumbar disks are showing signs of age degeneration and authuritus is building up where the spine rests on my pelvis....not an uncommon condition considering my age of 77 years. Several times over the past 25 years I've pinched a nerve in my back while bending over to tie shoelaces or making sudden turns to one side or another ( again, not an uncommon thing) sending a disk banging into the spinal nerve bundle and horrible shooting pains in the back and down the legs . Used to be able to recover in a couple of days by laying flat with bent knees and doing some strengthening exercises. But lately with a few more years under my ample belt, recovery time is getting longer and longer. Doctor visits and pain pills help but this last session seemed to go on and on and on. The flimsy stretch braces didn't help much, what I needed was something much more substantial.Checked out the listing of back braces on Amazon and selected this version by Muller. Got what I needed. This thing really keeps my spine straight, preventing the disks from slipping around, irritating the nerve bundle and allowing the inflammation to subside on it's own. It really helped! Back pain is gone and I no longer need to wear it all the time. Will keep it handy as I know I'll need it again before too long. You can really cinch it up tight so that you sit up straight just like your mother wanted you to...way back when lower back pain was unknown and a thing of the future!! I'm a big guy; played defensive tackle and still about the same size....6'4" and 275 lbs. A bit heavier than when I was playing, of course, so I ordered the "Plus Size as my waist is now 44" to 46". The Plus Size fits perfectly. If I have any negative remarks to make it's that this belt is rather bulky, stiff and a bit heavy. Need to wear it over a T-shirt or something, not directly against the skin. I wouldn't recommend trying to wear it underneath fancy dress clothes, though. But wearing it with jeans and a sweat shirt when you need it, works just fine. It's bulk is why I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars.Nevertheless, I really like this brace and recommend it to anyone who has a problem with lower back pain, that and some therapy exercises will help...and sit up straight, no slouching; it's sloppy posture that leads to much of the lower back pain problems. Worked for me!!

Excellent product, exactly as described. I'm a massive man and it fits just fine and I have not had any trouble with it riding up when I sit down. The brace offers support and you can tighten and adjust it to offer more. For the price it is great! Super fast shipping as well.
