Medieval Art

Very poor color illustrations
Color illustrations in this book are not clear and have weak color saturation - in general, just poor. Black and whites are okay. This author has eschewed traditional categories based on chronological sequence (ie., "gothic" etc.) . Some may prefer her approach; others, not.

good product , compact book. its factual, so don't expect sensational remarks:} however if your looking for objectivity and careful observation this book is for you. it is a good book for factual reference with extensive pictures. i would recommend this book for those who want fact and less opinion in the narration of the text. the colored images are lush with detail and side notes to enhance understanding of that particular painting.

Medieval Art by Veronica Sekules
Excellent like-new copy for very little cost; the material was interesting and well-written in my non-scholar's view, just what I was looking for as a good introduction to the subject. A welcome addition to my art library.

Just Love this Series
For all sorts of reasons in my late 60's I am researching art and design from Ancient Rome through to the start of the Renaissance and given the gap in the years from my childhood to the present, just where do you start ? I have found the "Oxford History of Art" series a brilliant place to start from wherever you then branch/go to and each book is such excellent value for money.

Excellent overview of the period
As with all books in this series, it is packed with information in beautifully illustrated essays. I was revising the mediaeval time at the time I first got it and had to put it aside because I needed to do revision for other periods of art history because I could have read all the way through without stopping.

Fantastic but the omission of a reference to the University of Bologna is strange!
