I love this set-up, It is very durable and well made! I'm on my second season with it now and it is my go to rod when I fly out of town and need to pack light, It even fits easily in my carry-on. Not much room for extra tackle, but I usually buy that locally at my destination after I find out what's working best. The only problem I've had is being able to find replacement tips from the manufacturer. I closed my ultr-light tip in the awning on my RV and it snapped off, haven't been able to find a replacement yet. Total bummer, because this was my favorite for most of the fishing I do. Otherwise a great value, I have a rod for almost every situation in a compact design with flawless function. Will add another star of I can figure out how to order a replacement tip, if I hadn't been careless I'm sure this combo would be a family heirloom someday. Update: I was able to find replacement tips on the Rigged & Ready web site. I was still under warranty, but discovered it was actually cheaper and faster to just buy a couple of extra tips (mailed from their US location) than it was to pay the processing and shipping fees for the "free" tips (shipped from their UK home location)!

Great shipping/product (R&R- x series) Compact and looks very durable like the smuggler 7 I had previously purchased and just ordered a second smuggler 6 as replacement for this. Unfortunately returning due to the length between spin reel in “closest” position to the first “nice tournament” guide that is closest to the reel. Paired with my surf reel a Diawa bg 5000 spooled with 10lb and 20lb braid, the braid “slaps” this section between and negatively effects casting ability of this very nice rod. Didn’t even try further away switched position, where the fly reel would go, thus making this “slapping” problem worse. Would function really well as a travel fly rod. Don’t fly fish when I travel.

it fits perfectly in a travel backpack for taking on a plane or wherever which is awesome. the case is sturdy and well put together and the packaging is great. my only complaint is that the different tips that come with it some are way too close in sensitivity it would've been better for saltwater fishing if there was some longer sturdier options. I'm sure they are great for freshwater excursions though but no so great for saltwater pier fishing

Those of us who must take a plane to get to a great fishing spot need a well-made and versatile travel rod. This one did not disappoint on a recent trip to Florida. Paired with a Daiwa BG 3000, I caught a nice 3' blacktip shark, and the rod performed beautifully. The manufacturer provides a nice guarantee and extras to make sure you don't go home disappointed. Update: several trips later, the rod still performs well catching specks and other inshore and surf species.

I travel from Boston to Seattle regularly for work. As an avid angler, it is outright shameful to find yourself in one of the most pristine fishing locations 4-6 times a year without a rod. The problem, of course, has always been traveling with all that extra equipment. If this were a vacation I'd have no trouble traveling with the extra baggage, but when you're traveling for work, on an expense account, it turns out fishing equipment doesn't qualify as "necessary equipment" (side note, we should be advocating for fishing at every major accounting school so we can eventually correct this horrific notion). After reading about the backstory of the X5's creator, and his similar frustration trying to find a "travel" rod that could actually meet Carry-On size restriction, I decided I would give it a try myself. And boy did this not disappoint! The rod not only fit into my carry-on but left plenty of room for reels, tackle, flies, etc. More importantly, the rod performs wonderfully. I've used it for both spinning and fly fishing and as you might expect, having a pretty strong backbone, it's sweet spot is spinning. That said, it made an excellent fly rod as well. Paired with a 6wt, I was able to effortlessly lay dry flies with on a stream as well as haul streamers with ease. My only issue was the lack of documentation. A one-sheeter describing each tip and how/when to use them would have been really helpful. I was able to find everything online but I shouldn't have had to search for it.

I really liked this fishing rod. The fact that I can break it down and take it anywhere is great. It casts and reels nicely and was a really versatile fishing rod. Unfortunately the rod is less than 1 year old and yesterday one of the pieces cracked while casting. I heard a noise when I cast but had no idea what it was at the time. A few minutes later when I went to reel in the rod folded over about mid way through one of the sections. As you can see in the product pictures the rod comes in 5 pieces and comes with 3 different tips but unfortunately the piece that cracked was the one below the tip as you can see in the picture I uploaded. I am hoping I will be able to get some kind of replacement part so that I can keep using it because I really enjoyed using it.

Was really excited to receive this in the mail as I was getting really into fishing this season. But upon opening the package, I was immediately disappointed. Amidst all the branding of being "designed in the Lake District", the rod is very much a Made in China product. It would not have been a disappointment if they had not made such a big deal on their marketing about being a UK product. Then comes the mess of parts. There are no instructions included. To find any form of instructions on which blank connects to another to form a rod combo, you have to go online to squint at an image to figure that out. NOTE: There are far fewer practical rod combinations than the advertised 25 combos (what good is a 3' H rod?) Further confusing is that there are no clear instructions on the power and lure limits of each "rod". Both of which would be quite important information to know as casting weights exceeding what the rod is meant for, risks breaking the rod. On to the specific package that I received, there were a few defects in the product. 1. The butt end extension would not fit into the butt, the only piece that is meant for it to fit on. The internal fit is completely different diameter than the butt end. 2. At least 2 guides came chipped and / or bent. Putting the pieces together was far more cumbersome than practical. The most "usable" 9' combo actually weighs significantly heavier than even the Ugly Stick Elite 9', and that is a beater rod. Really want to like the concept of a one-rod to do it all but this rebranded AliExpress package is going back.

The end rubber snapped and got jammed inside the next bigger rod causing the hole to stretch excessively on FIRST USE. The tube for the tip rod is also starting to crack. Hard to reach the seller for replacement.

Die Rute sieht nicht nur hochwertig aus, sondern fühlt sich auch genau so an. Verarbeitung und Materialien sind absolut sauber, alles wirkt durchdacht und die Rute ist wirklich leicht. Die Rutentasche ist kompakt, aber enorm robust. Selbst auf einer Flugreise im Koffer musste ich mir keine Sorgen machen, dass etwas beschädigt werden könnte. Auch die Spinnrolle macht einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck und passt optisch perfekt zur Rute. Die Fliegenfischrolle habe ich bisher nicht getestet, sie wirkt aber ebenso solide. Das Konzept mit den verschiedenen Spitzen ist für Reisen ideal, weil man flexibel auf jede Situation reagieren kann. Aber auch zuhause spart man sich damit im Grunde mehrere Ruten. Zusätzlich bietet der Hersteller auf seiner Website weitere Spitzen und sogar Griffstücke an, mit denen man die Rute noch vielseitiger machen kann. Sehr praktisch finde ich außerdem die zweite Spule, um schnell unterschiedliche Schnüre nutzen zu können, ohne komplett neu aufspulen zu müssen. Ich war so überzeugt, dass ich gleich eine zweite Rute als Weihnachtsgeschenk bestellt habe. Ein kleiner Verbesserungswunsch: Eine Kennzeichnung der Spitzen oder ein kleines Handout in der Tasche wäre hilfreich, um die einzelnen Spitzen und ihre zulässigen Wurfgewichte schneller zuzuordnen. Bei meiner Lieferung fehlte die Spitze für das Fliegenfischen - aber genau hier konnte ich erleben, wie gut der Support von Rigged & Ready wirklich ist. Die Reaktion war extrem schnell, freundlich und hilfsbereit. So einen zuverlässigen und unkomplizierten Support findet man heute selten! Klare Kaufempfehlung.
